For years, the family have always used a Philips Sonicare toothbrush, and whilst we always thought that it was good at cleaning our teeth, it always annoyed us that the little nocks and crannies in the handle and under the head would always gather ‘gunk’ and were difficult to clean. A few months ago, the battery finally gave out and I started to look around for a new electric tooth brush for the family. Now for a long time, I’ve held a passing interest in the Oral-B models and what they claimed to be able to do, and now decided to look at them in earnest, where this Triumph 5000 model sits at ... more

Advantages Advantages Great brush, cleans well, different brush heads, different modes, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, unnecessary gimmicky extras

I’ve always had good teeth but I’m never complacent and know how important it is to look after them. I always stick to a good dental hygiene regime and about a year ago I decided my toothbrush could do with an upgrade and spent ages trying to figure out what would be the best buy. In the end though my mother went out and bought me this Oral-B Triumph 5000 which was being touted as the best of the best. The RRP is around £180 but she paid £89.99 for it on sale, and it seems to always be on sale somewhere so you should never have to pay that much for it. The toothbrush comes with a charging ... more

A few weeks ago I visited the dentist for my six monthly check. I had been having a problem with bleeding gums and was worried about the condition of my teeth. Despite managing to live to my 30s with no fillings, I had somehow managed to begin to get gum disease, although it was the very early stages. I was absolutely mortified as I have always been so conscientious with brushing, however since my daughter came along I spend probably more time brushing her teeth than I do my own. Anyway, the dentist recommend I move onto an electric toothbrush, and was adamant that I should spend a little more ... more

I recently got this brush after feeling that my old manual was just not doing the job anymore and I felt I was struggling with my teeth and dental hygiene a bit. I bought this from my dentist but apparently you can get it from places like boots, Lloyds pharmacy and currys etc and there are often half price deals on at these places so you should be able to get one of these for about £60-80. A cool thing about this brush is that it comes with the little wireless smart timer. I’ve been finding I’ve been brushing my teeth for longer now that I have this as if you brush past 2 minutes you get a ... more

Advantages Advantages Great at cleaning your teeth.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Product life expectancy.

I was given a Smart Oral B as a gift and i loved it. Apart from spending a fortune on all the different kinds of heads, it can become a little compulsive. However, all that changed when just a little over the 2 year guarantee, my tooth brush died, it just no longer charges. I have spoken to customer services and apparently it seems my battery has come to the end of it's life expectancy. Once this happens, the whole unit is defunct. The dead battery can't be replaced, nor can you buy just a new hand held unit to use with your current smart system. So although all other parts of this system are ... more

Expensive for the purchaser at £80 but battery states it will last for up to three years and is fully recharchable. Excellent kit with fdifferent heads according to whatever the purchaser prefers to use, heads and clean settings for sensitive teeth, teeth which require deep cleaning and general teeth cleaning requirements. Recommended by British Dental Foundation and heads turn / oscillate 8800 times per minute to ensure the purchaser has excellent clean oral hygiene. IN MY OPINION this product is ... more
