Advantages: Supportive, comfortable, easy to use, will see you through many months (or years) of nursing Disadvantages: Elastic can bunch up
The first Bravado nursing bra I bought felt like an incredible indulgence at nearly £20 seven years ago, but it has proved to be a worthwhile investment as it is still going strong four children later! In fact, it has been joined by several more, as these bras have seen me through nearly eight years of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The style may not be the most flattering or sexy, but for sheer comfort they win hands-down, and at least there are ... ...through too obviously.
The Bravado has a wide band of elastic which gives a good supportive base and helps the fit to be as forgiving as it is. As a nursing bra this works well, but I have found that it was sometimes uncomfortable to wear in mid to late pregnancy (although this is sold as a maternity bra as well as a nursing bra) because it tended to bunch up and dig in. Advantages: Looks good, keeps everything where it should be Disadvantages: Generally only available on line
...were really quite unpleasant. The Bravado is just so much funkier. (As well as the leopard print featured here, they are available in black, white, pale pink, floral and polka dot - all with matching briefs, if you like!)
Style
Apart from the funkiness of the appearance, these bras are a really useful bit of kit. Advantages: grows with you, easy to open one-handed Disadvantages: wide elastic under bust scrunches up to be a little uncomfortable when pregnant
I bought 4 Bravado bras from JoJo Maman Bebe when I was around 12 weeks pregnant and having problems fitting into my non-maternity bras. I am now breastfeeding my 5 week old daughter and they are going strong, and really coming into their own.
They were brilliant during pregnancy and very comfortable with an ever expanding rib-cage, my only complaint being that the wide elastic under the bust did scrunch up a bit during the later parts of pregnancy. ... ...up a bit, and the Bravado gives me terrific support. I really like the popper mechanism to unclip the cup, far safer that the zip on the feeding bras I wore while breastfeeding my son a few years ago, I accidentally zipped my skin into those a number of times while trying to discreetly do up the cup with one hand.
One of the Bravado bras that I bought was faulty and the elastic unravelled after a few washes, but this was replaced with a new bra ...
