Advantages Advantages Intelligently written, good character depth, vivid detail

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get a tad confusing

This is the latest Kathy Reichs book I've read; I'm familiar with her style as I've read/reviewed a few before, so I knew roughly what to expect. This book fits into the crime/thriller genre and whilst it may not be everyone's cuppa tea, and I agree that some of the detailing can be quite confusing, it was an intelligent and enjoyable read nonetheless. Break No Bones introduces us to Temperance (aka Tempe) Brennan, the protagonist in Reich's novels. She's a forensic anthropologist, working several sites and at the start of the novel she's leading an archaeological field school digging ... more

Advantages Advantages a better book than the one before

Disadvantages Disadvantages not as gripping as previous books

This is yet another of the books for which I have found a home on my bookcases this week and quite deservingly so, Reichs is an author whos books are highly regarded due to the authenticity of the detail, like Tess Gerritsen she has a strong lead character and is writing using the knowledge she has of the field from being a part of it herself. Kathy Reichs is a forensic anthropologist one of few certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. This is her 8th book featuring Temperance Brennan. Somehow for Tempe Brennan even a simple field dig with some of her students is never as ... more

    Advantages Advantages Another Outstanding Read

Disadvantages Disadvantages Leaves you wanting her to hurry up with the next one!

Tempe Brennan is back on a murderer's trail again in another brilliant book by Reichs. For those who have not read them before, Brennan is a forensic anthropologist who works part time in North Carolina and part time in Montreal, Quebec. She has a personal relationship of sorts with a Montreal police officer plus an ex husband about whom she has ambivalent feelings, not to mention her wonderful cat Birdie who features in every book and is a character in his own right and the dog Boyd that she shares with her ex-husband who is with her in this book. This latest offering takes her to South ... more

Advantages Advantages An excellent read, well written story that keeps the pages turning

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None at all

Break No Bones, like all of Kathy Reichs' books, kept me riveted from page 1. I love that Tempe Brennan is a complex, three dimensional character who doesn't always know (like most of us) what she wants or how to deal with what life throws at her. In this novel, Tempe has to deal with the illness of a close friend, the near-fatal wounding of her estranged husband and, as always, Andrew Ryan. The story takes place in and around Charleston, North Carolina, and I was interested enough to Google Map the area, to get a feel for the geography described in the book. There are a few people missing ... more

4 Stars Quick review of Break No Bones - Kathy Reichs by stevem4 23/07/2007
As a reader not normally interested in crime novels, I was surpised to find myself captivated by this book. I read it in just under a week! I now intend to read more books by Reichs as she seems to have a gift for making her stories progress well and gather pace.

Advantages Advantages good read. lots of twists and turns. kathy reichs back to her best

Disadvantages Disadvantages the ending is a bit sad :(

After some readers were disappointed with the last Tempe Brennan novel, I think they will find Kathy Reichs is back on form. This book follows Tempe on a simple dig with some students, that turns into an extended working vacation when a corpse is found that is a few hundred years fresher than anything they were meant to find!! As the body count rises, Tempe is racing against the clock to find the killer (before they find her), to reach a conclusion even the great Dr Brennan can barely comprehend. This book has the usual appearances of Boyd, Detective Ryan and the cat - but when Tempe's ... more

Advantages Advantages good book couldnt put it down

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Being someone thats highly addicted to the sky one series i have to go and buy her books. I think its great that i can take the books everywhere with me i even take them into work and read them on my breaks. I have never really been disappointed with any of her books i find they can be better then the t.v series as sometimes the books hold more details. I find myself hunting down all book stores for her books so that i can complete the series. I also find them helpful for those that have Virgin Central, as they can not receive sky one they may not be just like the t.v series but for those of ... more
