The Breville spectra is the new generation of kettles mixing the functionality of a kettle with the soothing effect of soft "ever changing" lighting. To me this looks kind of cool and funky when it is on the kitchen shelf. I bought this kettle as a novelty Christmas present for my girlfriend as her other kettle was only 800 Watts and took an eternity to boil. This one is much more powerful, rated at 3KW and boils very quickly indeed. The light show is very entertaining, in fact so much so, that I wanted to put it in the living room. ...I returned it to breville and they sent me another one. The same thing happened again. THIS IS NOT A SAFE PRODUCT. It has ruined my kitchen upboards and has scolded me with hot water. I believe that this product should be RECALLED! The boil is too long and the lid doesn't shut properly so that this, in my opinion, makes this product exceptionally unsafe. Apart from changing the kettle, Breville or pulse products, do not want to know. Stay away ...

The ketlle is exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately mine has a fault. The lid pops open when the kettle is actually boiling which can be a little painful. I do intend to replace the item with another one as I think mine is possibly a rogue but we shall have to see. Apart from this the kettle is certainly quiet and very quick boiling. The lighting novel. It holds plenty of water for a normal sized families needs. A very good ergonomic design. Overall a good kettle provided that the lid problem I have is not a design flaw. ...

I bought this kettle because it looked nice but after only 3 weeks of using it, I found that the lid pops opens while boiling and a couple of times it has popped open when pouring. I think the lid opens too easily with the fingers without even pressing the button to release the lid and is a design fault. I tried to take it back to Debenhams where I bought it from but was told that unless it is faulty or damaged they can not refund or exchange. I tried calling Breville customer service but get a message that they are experiencing high volume of calls and to call back later. I am not very happy with the kettle and think it should be recalled. ...
