And they say heroin is addictive!

Advantages: A fantastic game, and it'll set you back about £1 for a pack of cards!
Disadvantages: Very addictive...

Bridge should come with a health warning. Something along the lines of “Warning. Psychosis alert!” Some years ago I became involved with a group of twenty somethings who were exploring the game’s every possible nuance. It nearly ruined my life. THE FIRST DAY IN A NEW FLAT The flat wasn’t too dirty. The flatmates were friendly enough. After unpacking, I wandered into the Lounge to see what was going on. There were 4 other people in the flat and ...
...friends to play with. Bridge is a game for four players, but it is played in two teams of two players each. All the cards are dealt out, so that each player has thirteen cards. A bidding process ensues where players declare how many “tricks” they will make (see below for definition of a trick). The winning pair (basically the pair that decides they can make the most tricks) get to “play” the contract. One of the winning pair plays, and the other ...

Easy to play tricky to master

Advantages: Complicated strategy card game with a little luck
Disadvantages: Game can be spoilt if you have a poor partner

...that he was a master bridge player. Joining the school ‘Bridge’ club I soon began to realize that becoming a great bridge player was not an easy task and combines many skills ranging from a good memory to an understanding of your partner. Bridge – the card game. With similar rules to whist or ‘trumps’ Bridge is a card game in two parts. All 52 cards are dealt to 4 players. The player opposite you is your partner and ...
...you don’t beat their winners. Conclusion Bridge is a relatively simple game to play but is immensely hard to master. It is a fun game that can be played with friends on a rainy day, or it is a competitive game that can be played under strict regulations. ...

A royal card game

Advantages: see the text
Disadvantages: not any

...because some people say that Bridge is a card game that equals Chess. The rules are very easy but the strategy makes the game and that's what makes this game difficult. I can somethimes play it very long and the better the other players are, the more I get the feeling that I play very bad but I'd like also to say that there is no need to learn it for years, but you need to practice it and the more you play, the better you get. :) Bridge - the origins, ...
...that is very similar to Bridge and that's one of the oldest card games. Wrist developed probably out of a game called Trump and there are notes about Trump from the 16th century. Easy to learn, but not to master

Advantages: Provides a lifelong learning curve
Disadvantages: Takes a lifetime to learn fully!

...step in learning to play Bridge is to play it for 30 years or so, and actually begin to understand the bidding system! It's one thing to be able to play it, as I can, with some degree of competence, but there is a whole spectrum of tactical bidding and the like which lies far beyond my comprehension, for now. All told, this is a simple game to learn (especially if you've ever played Whist) but a difficult, perhaps even tedious, game to master. Also ...

bridge

Advantages: social
Disadvantages: become hooked

I've been a bridge teacher for about 15 years. Many people choose to learn for the social aspect. Having completed the course many learners say how it's changed their lives completely. Some play every evening at their local club and have made many new friends. It's becoming ever more increasingly popular on the internet though personally I prefer 'live' play. Basically if you've never played before it's a game for multiples of 4 people who form partnerships. ...
...of the game) and then the 'play' of the cards takes place each side trying to outdo the other. Unlike most card games luck takes only a very small percentage part of the game particulary when you play in competition with many other pairs. I recommend it to all who have not tried and who knows you may also become hooked. ...

Game of skill and luck

Advantages: Skills are required
Disadvantages: Intially may find boring

The games characteristics of luck and wits. I would put it as more wits than luck. Luck aspect is there because of the cards you and your partners receive. As we are well aware of the play , four players and two players form a team. As far as card luck is concerned that is only the first step. Rest all is pure skill. Bidding is an aspect where understand between you and your partner is more usefull that luck. There are many styles in Bidding. The ...
