I've been a bridge teacher for about 15 years. Many people choose to learn for the social aspect. Having completed the course many learners say how it's changed their lives completely. Some play every evening at their local club and have made many new friends. It's becoming ever more increasingly popular on the internet though personally I prefer 'live' play. The games characteristics of luck and wits. I would put it as more wits than luck. Luck aspect is there because of the cards you and your partners receive.
