Advantages: Very efficient; brilliant customer care; reasonable prices Disadvantages: None
Britannia Rescue may be one of the least well known of the breakdown organisations, and they obviously have much smaller marketing budgets than the AA or RAC, but what they lack for in size they make up for in quality.

Advantages: Great service, prompt response, good value Disadvantages: found none in nearly 20 years
I have been with britannia rescue for nearly 20 years and in all that time i can honestly say they have never let me down when i have needed them which in the early years due to me running old bangers and dodgy motorbikes was probably a couple of times a year.
The longest i have ever waited for assistance was 35 minutes on a cold frosty boxing day a number of years ago when i totalled my motorbike into the back of a lorry. The shortest wait was amazingly ... ...a pint Britannia rescue is owned by the CSMA which is the Civil Service Motoring Association and they have offered their services to the general public since 1984 and now have over 400,000 members.

Advantages: price Disadvantages: do not bother to check that their contractors can really attend in times they give
Joined Brittania through CSMA as price was good. Used them twice in 2 years and each time they took 2 hours to arrive. Both breakdowns were in populated areas which were easy to get to and neither were in peak breakdown periods. Problem seems to be that they use contractors who basically will lie about how quick they can get there so they get the job. each time I was told help would arrive within the hour, but Brittania don't check with customer ... ...them twice each time. They subsequently sent me a satisfaction form to complete but failed to respond in any way to my comments regarding service. Advantages: Fast Reliable Rescue Service Disadvantages: None
...have been a member of BRITANNIA RESCUE for the last ten years. I have had new cars in the last ten years until August last year when my Skoda Octavia was written off following an RTA and had never needed BRITANNIA RESCUE's services. In November my brother gave me a Vauxhall Astra (F Reg). The car has not been particularly reliable and has broken down several times. I managed to coax the engine back into life on several of these occaisions (I used ... ...these occaisions I called out BRITANNIA RESCUE and on all four occaisions they arrived fairly swiftly 15 minutes minimum and 45 minutes maximum (far quicker than the 4th emergency service when I was a member in the 80s, the average time then being2 to 3 hours!). On two occaisions I had to be recovered to my home and the other two occaisions I managed to carry on with my journey without any further problems. The guys who recovered me were all very ...

Advantages: cost, speed of response, helpful telephone staff and drivers, nothing too much trouble. Disadvantages: Nothing I can think of.
I took out Britannia cover many years ago and was drawn to them by recommendation by a family member. I liked that I could cover the car, regardless of driver, rather than covering the driver. Over the years, I have changed vehicles and covered more than one vehicle on the same policy when I have owned classic cars. Britannia don't have restrictions on age of vehicle, to my knowledge. Cost was the other factor important to me - cheaper than the competition.
... ...have had no problem with Britannia because they use local contractors, rather than their own fleet vehicles.
I don't have the homestart option, though I have been recovered to my home on more than one occasion at night with agreement that Britannia will come out again the next day to my home to transport me to a garage - something I think is great customer service.
I have introduced other family members and get £5 off next year's premium for doing ...

...have been a member of Britannia rescue for about 10 years and never had to call them out till the other week when i broke down at 11.30 pm on a dark country road 5 miles from anywhere.
I had my mobile with me so i put a call to britannia Rescue.
I was told someone would be with me in about 30 minutes ans to sit in the car with the lights on in case someone else ran into me.
Just 8 minutes later a local garage brakdown truck turned up and got under ... ...diagnosed and i was on my way.
The service i received was excellent and its good to know they are only at the end of the phone when you have a problem.
The price comparison with the AA and RAC is also very good saving approx £20 on most of the tariffs offered by the well known brands.
There has been many a time after hearing horror stories about 3 and 4 hour waits from members of the AA and RAC ,i think how lucky it is i dont belong to one of ...

Advantages: Security and total peace of mind. Disadvantages: none that i've found.
10 years with no cover and numerous breakdowns I asked friends where the best value for money could be found. I tried another organisation and felt patronised and disillusioned. Then a friend recommended Brittania.

When I called them out for a problem with the drive on another car they were thorough - checked the wheel, took it off and checked the brakes and drive shaft, ...

Advantages: Uses 'local' garages, different types of cover to suite Disadvantages: None
I've been a member of Britannia Rescue for over three years, having previous been in the AA.
I've called Britannia out five times in the three years and every time the service has been faultless.
1) Broken wipers during servere storm and local floods; came within the hour, with a phone call to say mechanic on his way.
2) Puncture on sloping driveway; arrived within 20 min
3) Radiator protector panel partially dropped off at speed on the motorway; ... ...how it all works. Apparently, Britannia payed him the best and he was registered with a number of breakdown companies. He prefered Britannia because, unlike some of the others, they only use 'local' garages and don't actually own any of their own vehicles. Accordingly, the 'big boys' prefer to use their own trucks and will try and hold onto jobs to get their own people there. If, in the end, they have to give the job out to agencies, they can be ...

Stating the obvious first, this review is on the Brittania Rescue breakdown service. Owned by the Civil Service Motoring Association, it is onnly possible to become a member if you work for some local government services. Advantages: Very good service Disadvantages: err nothing
I have been with Britannia Rescue for 3 years and have called them out 4 times. Each time they got to me in about 45 minutes which was good. The phone customer service is very good and helpful. Each time I have had a callout, they seem to use the best recovery agents in the area as each mechanic has sorted the problem out at the roadside and all of them were friendly.

The mechanic arrived and went through a few things then successfully started the engine, he spent nearly 3/4's of an hour on it but I felt he was determined to fix it instead of give up and tow it back to the garage.
When he was finished, he gave me some helpful advice in how to prevent it from happening again and the problem is no more.
I would recommend this breakdown service to all. ...

Advantages: SUPER FAST-COURTEOUS-SUPERB VALUE FOR MONEY Disadvantages: NONE, ZIP, ZILCH, ZERO
I joined Britannia because I worked for the civil service, we got preferential rates. I began driving with a couple of old bangers, the usual story, and felt I needed the protection and back-up of breakdown cover. It was great value for money, and for a couple of years I was lucky enough to have trouble free driving.
However, one day I was flying up the M5 in my Fiat Tempra station wagon with my two little boys in the back. We were on our way from ... ...just before Strensham, services. (almost half way) The car suddenly conked out, I lost the power steering and the engine just stopped. I managed, to my surprise, to swerve over to the hard shoulder, and ended up by a phone. After telephoning Britannia, they turned up within 20 minutes, and treated me like royalty. We were towed to the services where the mechanics took a look. Basically the car wasn't going anywhere that day. I was given the choice ...

I joined because as a civil servant i got a cheap deal, but the service has surprised me and I can't see me leaving for one of the other main stream providers unless they have a drastic reduction in price.
I pay about £70 for all singing and dancing cover. This is far cheaper than AA and the likes that charge over £100 for the equivalent.
