...shopping around I found the Britax First class on a web site. I liked the colour choices and even though it is expensive I found that by shopping around I could find it alot cheaper.
DESCRIPTION
Well, it has deep, softly padded side wings for side impact protection, it's ideal if your child (like my daughter did) has out grown an infant carrier but is not as yet ready to travel facing forward.
The unique extended recline position works well with ... ...replacement/spare covers are avaliable from Britax by contacting their customer service helpline on, 01264 386034
You also get a lock off device to make sure the seat remains securely fitted.
You can buy them from a number of shops including Mothercare and Halfords, both of which offer a free fitting service.
I bought mine from a local shop for well under the rrp of £120, but I've also seen them on the kiddiecare site for £94.99.
I would have ...

...First Class has replaces the Britax Club Class, but is similar in the way it fits. The seat is one of the more pricey ones at around £110, but I was lucky and purchased mine when there was a promotion on Britax seats in Halfords, and got it with 20% off. Anyway the price is pretty good value for money, when you consider the wide age range of this seat over others.
One of the benefits of this seat is that it can be used from birth in a rear facing ... ...with the seat to make it more comfortable for weenie newborns.) and up until they are 40lb (about four years old) in the forward facing positon
Of course, the real test of any car seat, other than whether it fits your car properly, is whether your baby is happy in it. My daughter has been road-testing the First Class every day for a month or so now and she loves it. She enjoys the high position, from which she can see out and look at all the sights. ...

Advantages: Very comfy for newborns and toddlers. Disadvantages: Hard to install rearward facing - but worth it!
**Age group is birth to 3+**
I got the first class when pregnant with my first baby as I have MS and didn't think I could manage with seats that you take in and out of the car. I just wanted to take the baby and leave the seat behind!
You do have to have extra long seatbelts to fit the seat rearward facing and have quite a bit of room between the front seats. We had a Mondeo so it fitted with no problems at all.
It is quite hard work to get strapped ... ...don't have to take it out again so it's worth the effort. Due to this I gave it an easy rating for installation. It is very easy to fit forward facing.
When our baby was first born she was quite tiny (6.5lb) and the newborn insert supported her very well. We did at first find the seatbelt annoying when taking the baby in/out but then we realised you can easily tuck it under the side of the seat and it stays out of the way but then you need to remember ...

...this out by ringing the Britax customer helpline 01264386034.
It is rear facing as well as forward facing and comes with a newborn insert which when inserted raises baby nearer to the top so that the seat is not so deep. When in the rear facing position the seat must always be fully reclined.

The seat is fitted using the diagonal belt and there are a number of seat belt locks to ensure the seat is well fitted and although Halfords offer a free fitiing service, the instructions are easy to understand. It can be a little fiddly when you first try and when moving the seat from car to car.

Advantages: Easy strapping in (the kids), and easy fitment (to the car) Disadvantages: Quick release button won't be a quick escape
...seats from birth, but these Britax seats were their first forward facing seats.
Straps are an item worthy of comment.... There are 2 shoulder straps, big loops that come from behind baby's bum, to the shoulder pad.
The two loops each have a buckle clip, free sliding on the strap. When the child is placed into the seat, the straps must be brought around the arms, and brought together in the middle before inserting into thebuckle, which is attached ... ...effect, once buckled, you have shoulder , side, and groin straps, connected through one buckle.
Despite the buckle having a quick release button, it seems neccessary to release the 'length' on the harness straps prior to releasing the Q/R buckle, or the child will still be restrained by the 2 seperated shoulder strap loops, and will not be easily removed from the vehicle. In everyday use, the straps must be lengthened before rleasing the child . ...

Advantages: Sturdy, safe feeling and comortable. Disadvantages: None that I have encountered.
I wish I'd had it from birth - this is a lovely car seat, comfy, sturdy and fits in my car! I really like the feel of the material, it's very easy to get baby in and out and it will last for a few years at least.
I has a soft, padded insert for newborns, the shoulder pads are not too stiff, it's easy to adjust the straps and my baby seems really comfy in it .

Advantages: Easy to fit, looks stylish, fits most cars, good quality Disadvantages: Highly priced,
We chose the Britax First Class car seat after looking at the many other other makes and models and thought "yeuck!" to most of them. Some seemed garish. Others seemed less well built. The one we liked best just on first impression was the Britax First Class, which on further investigation was apparently Mothercare's best selling seat. This seat boasted good safety and the seat is very well made. The seat itself is deep with good side protection, which others did not have. The seat reclines very easily into several positions (5 I think) which makes it easy to operate, even from the front seat. Another advantage is that it can be used from birth as a rearward facing seat (a padded bumper seat fits into the main seat) though we have not tested this feature as we bought the ...

Advantages: Alternative routing for seatbelts Disadvantages: slightly expensive at £110
When i originally looked at this car seat i made the mistake of going to halfords, the reason this was a mistake was the staff had no training on how to fit it, my baby was less than 9 kilos at the time so needed to be rearward facing but he was too tall for his smaller carseat, i was told the seatbelt was too short for it to be rearward facing, so i gave up and decided to leave it.
I waited a few months and decided to go to mothercare world as ... ...car seats it was established that due to the length of the buckle strap in the car the first class was the only suitable car seat due to the alternative routing, as my son was not quite ready for forward facing i asked the assistant if it would go rearward facing she managed it with no problem, the man at halfords was trying to do it completely wrong.
I am very happy with this car seat as it is easy to put in the car once you've been shown how to ...

Advantages: Can be used from Birth to around age 3 Disadvantages: It is a bit heavy/arkward to transferr from car to car all the time
I bough this car seat for my son, when he was just growing out of the group 0 seat. Therefore it was the third car seat we bought (and he was only 9months old)
The first was one of those baby cradle type car seats (M&P) that click in and out of buggies etc. Second was supposedly a from Birth car seat that was very very unsuitable for a baby under 12 months as it was far too upright - so I felt uneasy with using it.
This car seat has been brilliant ... ...fits the car seat very tightly. The seat belt tightens and loosens easily and the clasp is tight enough for my son not to be able to use!
I wont even be buying a new seat for my next child as I will use this facing backwards from birth.
And for installations it has easy to read instructions actually in the seat - very clever. - And if you buy it from Halfords they normally have it for £30 less than everywhere else!
Buy this car seat!! ...

Advantages: Very safe Disadvantages: Not sure about lasting until she's 3
I have this in the pink color and at first I had mixed emotions. I loved the forward facing position and the fact that it easily reclines but I didn't think it would be that big. I ordered it from the Littlewoods catalogue so I did see it until it arrived. When we put it in the car at first I thought it would be too big. We have a Citroen C4 - so not a small car and with my partner driving at 6 ft and a bit tall she hasn't got an awful lot of room ... ...it's meant to last till she's 3! I have my doubts! When she's bigger i'll move her behind the passenger seat. It's very well padded and the belts have pads on them to stop any rubbing. It was easy to instal but I didn't find the instructions dummy proof. They could of been a bit more clear about how to adjust the straps. The belts can go at different heights and it comes with a newborn padded insert. To be honest I wish I had just bought this from ...

Advantages: Comfortable, secure (when facing forwards), safe Disadvantages: Drab colours, none too stable in rear-facing mode, bulky
We bought this seat because our little girl was getting a bit big for her baby carrier/rear-facing car seat, but still too young for a front-facer. Where I live it isn't available in the shops, so we bought through mail order. I have to say that in rear-facing mode it disappoints. The seat-belt guides don't allow the webbing to lie flat (in a Ford Focus II estate), and the arrangement is far from stable - there is a lot of lateral movement. This ... ...A dedicated rear-facing seat is a far snugger fit, and the rear-facing mode in this seat seems to be more of an afterthought.
Forward-facing it is very secure and comfortable, although it does lack a means of clipping the shoulder straps to the sides when putting the child in it. This would save me having to fish them out from under her afterwards...
When facing forwards, the main problem arises from its "universal" functionality. The plastic 'horns' ...

Eventually, i found the britax first class. It wouldnt have been my ideal choice because of the dull colours on the material, but we had to go with it, as it was the only one that fitted.
this is a second stage seat, so you can use it from birth, right up until the child is four.
From birth up to approx 9 months(201b)it has to be rearward facing in the front or back of the car.
when the child reaches 201b, you can have it forward facing, ... ...just want to point out, that you shouldnt have your baby forward facing until they they are at least 201b in weight, this is because there neck wont be supported enough and it wasn't tested on under this weight.

It has got a good height on the chair, which my daughter likes because she can clearly see out of the window on our travels!!

Advantages: easy to recline big comfy seat, simple to use harness. Disadvantages: none
We finally chose the britax first class after a lot of looking around at other makes and models. The first thing that convinced us that this was the right chair was how chunky and stable it looked with its high sides and asis (advanced side impact system), the second was how reclinable it was while not compromising the security and safety of the seat.
