    i too had a bad experience with this firm and as a result did not want to renew my insurance with them. I too never received my insurance certificate etc and after several phone calls where they told me it was in the post, it suddenly clicked to them that they had the wrong address for me..can you believe this they forgot to put a door number. However much to my disgust i was charged £10 for the extra policy they sent me as a result of their incompetence.     In September (sorry I lied to you earlier, it was not December - must have had a blonde moment) of last year, I got my renewal for my car insurance from the AA, guess what, it had gone up drastically. Now like everyone else, I find the average motorist is being hit hard enough with increases in tax and fuel without having to pay out over the top for car insurance. My renewal quote was for £467.00 this was for fully comp, curtesy car, protected no claims, legal cover and and excess of £100.00.     I have been a customer of Budget Insurance for about 5 years and have had two non-fault accidents. the first was dealt with swiftly and efficiently, my car was fixed, a replacement car was given, all with no effort required from me. My second accident however coincided with the renewal of my policy. This meant that at the moment I was being requoted, my policy reflected an accident that had not yet been recorded as a non-fault, so my premium sky-rocketed.     Nightmare scenario - two months into an annual policy, all prepaid, your insurance underwriter goes bust! Argh! This happened to me (and many others) with the demise of Drake Insurance earlier this year. What this actually meant to policyholders depended very much on the broker you had used, and I had the good fortune of having gone via Budget!     My partner bought his car insurance through this company for the first time last year. We were unfortunate to be rammed 10 mths later and have our car written off. Three months later we are still waiting for our money. They are sending us pathetic letters, trying to waste as much time as possible, offering us almost £6 k less than we paid 10 mths previously. I am at my wits end, is there anybody out there, that can offer me advice as to whom to contact etc ?? We have a solicitor but he is only able to deal with our personal injuries claims.     Budget car insurance is cheap - but the service is outstanding. I haven't been driving long and I had a small accident which wasnt my fault. I had been with Budget only a few weeks but I found they were more than helpful. As a novice I had very little idea what to do, althogh I did make sure I got the other drivers name and details. I phoned them and was rather worried because I didnt have a clue who had to claim or what.     I had been with Budget insurance for a few years after I was tempted in by getting a good quote. This insurance policy cost never changed since I had the policy. I found it ok to pay month but a bit anoying receiving a new certificate every month. I phoned them, to get a quote and they quoted my cheaper. I questioned them why the policy I already had with them had neverf fallen and they basically gave me a rubbish excuse about why it worked out like this.     This is how easy insuring your car should be. Make a phone call, give some details, get insurance. Life is already too hectic without having to run about chasing up quotes. I have learned over the years that this is the most reasonably priced insurance service about. They will deal with everything over the phone and by post and tale your payments by Direct Debit. I made a claim once and thought Uh-oh here we go. No, even that was sinplicity itself and within 2 months everything was taken care of. This is so simple I wouldn't go anywhere else now. ... more

    They do have some really dodgy practices at renewal time. As others have pointed out, Budget (BISL Ltd) automatically take payment to renew your insurance unless you specifically tell them not to, this was NOT mentioned when i took out the insurance over the phone, so when you receive what you expect to be "would you like to renew you insurance with us " letters, they are really "we are going to renew unless you cancel" letters.     Budget has a range of insurance products available. I will be concentrating on Budget Car Insurance as they are the insurers I have at the minute. When I bought my new car (a Porsche Boxster) I was worried about getting insurance as the car is group 17 and Im only 25. Although as a woman I thought I would get it a bit cheaper I found this wasn't the case. I used various online search sites to find the best cover but found confused.com to be the best.
