5 Stars Hey Baby! Come and park your BUM over here! Review with images 20/11/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Durable, light. comfy, portable, a Godsend!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Hefty price tag

When my son got to the age where he wanted to move around without hurting himself, I decided to take a look around the internet for something to sit him in, as well, it would be handy for something portable so he could sit in the kitchen with me when I was making tea! I stumbled across the Bumbo.... What is a Bumbo? A Bumbo is a seat, and it is designed for babies who can hold up their own head without it lolling around, but who are not old enough to be able to sit by themselves without assistance. The Bumbo has won awards for its innovative design and high safety standards. It can be used ... more

5 Stars BUMBO - BEST 20 QUID I EVER SPENT Review with images 06/07/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages PROMOTES SITTING UP, COMFY, VERSATILE, EASY TO CLEAN

Disadvantages Disadvantages BIT EXPENSIVE INITIALLY BUT WELL WORTH IT

Having children is an expense but it is well worth it. Aswell as the normal essential items such as cot and buggy, you need somewhere safe to put your baby whilst you do housework or need the toilet. This is where the Bumbo comes into play. A bumbo is basically a baby seat. It is a soft and lightweight mini chair which has been ergonomically designed to stop the baby from falling over. It is designed for babies who have the ability and to hold their own heads up unaided as promotes posture and sitting up. Bumbos are designed with slightly raised edges and a small foamy piece of material in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks cute. Can be used for babies that can't sit unaided. Easy to clean.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Our baby hated his. Expensive. A Bouncy chair does the same job for less.

A Bumbo, for anybody that hasn't come across one before, is a rubbery bucket shaped seat for babies. Unlike more traditional bouncy chairs, a Bumbo supports a baby in an upright position and the deep-cut leg-holes and the design of the chair mean that a more active baby can't (allegedly) get out of one of these by themselves. The Bumbo comes in a range of colours, including pink, blue and aqua. These seats weren't really around when my oldest was a tiny baby but they seemed really popular when I was expecting my youngest. I think they look really cute with a baby sitting in this over-sized ... more

5 Stars Large Foam Potty. Review with images 16/11/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Babies and mums love them. Bright colours.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None Really.

A few years back now well 2 and a half anyway we looked high and low for one of these bumbo chairs. This was when they took the UK b storm I do believe. We got one thought in babies r us. Though the only colour left was Aqua. Which was a nice colour actually. = The Bumbo Chair. = From what I can make out. The Bumbo chair came from South Africa and is one of the most clever inventions yet. Then went onto take America by storm and then the UK by storm a couple of year backs. Today they are still taking the world by storm,. Bumbo is designed so that the baby's own body weight helps to slightly ... more

3 Stars A Baby Seat I'm Not Potty About Review with images 12/06/2005
    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages portable, lightweight seat; comfortable design; baby can sit up unaided; wipes clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages baby might not like it; it tips back in an unsafe way; only suitable for baby from 4 months and up to 22lb in weight

Bumbo baby seats are all the rage at the moment. The bumbo originated in South Africa, and has now taken the UK by storm. Cool babies have bumbos! The bumbo seat looks at first glance like a large foam potty. It's a peculiar looking seat that looks inflexible and uncomfortable, but the reverse is actually true. It is designed so that the babies own weight holds them securely and comfortably in position, with their bum lower than their legs. The base of the seat is sloped which gives support to the lower back, and the back is low enough that they have a greater field of vision than in a high ... more

Advantages Advantages Enables baby to sit unaided, so handy for parents.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be dangerous as baby becomes more active, only got a few months use, quite expensive.

The Bumbo is a seat that enables babies to sit unaided. It can be used as soon as baby can lift their head - I would say at around 3 or 4 months. The Bumbo should stop being used when the child is able to remove themselves from the Bumbo - the company suggest at around 12 - 14 months but I would suggest around 11 months depending on how active and developed your baby is. The Bumbo is deep and has high sides and high back for support. There is also a support between the legs to keep the legs apart and prevent baby from falling fowards. Embossed on the front is the name 'Bumbo' and a picture of ... more

Advantages Advantages Lets you child sit unaided safely

Disadvantages Disadvantages Baby could get out of it when they are older

I recently visited a friend who has an 18 month old child and she asked me if I had a Bumbo, I looked at her as if to say what on earth are you talking about as I had never herd of such a thing. Five minutes later after rooting around in her loft she produced what I can only describe as a chair that looked like a potty. So what is a Bumbo, well it's a seat for babies from around 4 months (or who can support their own heads) and up to around 14 months. They come in a variety of cool colours. It basically (as mentioned earlier) looks like an oversized potty; it has a high back on it and little ... more

4 Stars A comfy looking but confining lump of foam Review with images 23/03/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Very stable and easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not good for and length of time.

This came highly recommended by a friend of mine at a time when I was looking for some way for my son to sit near me and see what I was doing while I worked on the computer. I liked the fact that it is stable enough to sit safely on the desk next to me and hold him securely while I got on with some work. After reading some of the other reviews on here, I was slightly less convinced that it was the solution to my problem, but I decided to give it a go anyway. Rather than pay full price for one, which is about £30 - £40 depending on where you shop, I found one on ebay. There are loads of them on ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great handy seat for carrying around

Disadvantages Disadvantages Baby may not like it

While flicking through one of my many catalogues, I came across a funny wee seat for babies aged from 4 months. It was called a Bumbo Seat. By looking at it you would think it was made of hard plastic and I wondered what it was all about. The picture on the page showed a baby sitting on a beach. While chatting to friends, a few of them mentioned the bumbo seat that they had bought and how great they were for using when going to granny's house or to a friends house or even in your own for allowing the child to sit up more easily. I checked through the net and discovered that these seats are ... more

Advantages Advantages Very safe and sturdy, unique, durable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too expensive

A Bumbo man My husband spotted this online and decided that we had to get one for our daughter. As it is quite unusual for him to become fixated on a product (unlike me!), I thought I would just go with the flow and let him buy one. Rubber potty At first glance this looks like a big rubber potty! it's definitely unusual looking and very eye-catching - once you see one, you won't forget it. So what is it? The Bumbo is made from one piece of rubber and is quite heavy and very sturdy. It comes in red, pink and blue - we opted for the blue which is a nice light blue colour - actually it is called ... more
