Advantages Advantages Apparently all natural, very minty and cooling.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't last long for soft lips, contains Lanolin, stings and pricey

When the days are dreary, wet and windy in most of Scotland apart from the odd sunshine trying to get through, my lips certainly stand the test of drying out and let me know about it by painful looking scarred white skin helped by the cold and drying air. If it isn't dry, then it's damp air - and the wind then plays up to the elements just to wipe whatever sunscreen I've already applied only to then whip out my lip balm and reapply again! No wonder so many buyers have more than just one brand, or more than just one tin of their lip salve on their person. It's not just the ladies who need soft ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice and creamy + pleasant smell and taste + excellent lipstick primer

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tends to be ineffective on v. dry lips - no SPF - like Vaseline, tin version melts

I really like this product and, although it's not the best on the market, I still have many uses for it. For example, sometimes I use this simply as a balm in an attempt to heal chapped and/or dry lips, whilst other times I will use it as a primer for my lipstick. It beats paying for things like MAC Lip Primer when my budget is tight. MOISTURISING This product leaves my lips really soft and leaves a tingly minty feeling. But, when the tingle wears off, I find it really necessary to reapply. I don't really know why this is, but the balm is a little bit too clear so this could be one reason. On ... more

Advantages Advantages Soothing, protecting, lasts for a long time, reasonable price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can make lips turn white if it's a cold day!

My lips can get very dry and sore, especially now the weather is turning colder, so I need to use lip balm all the time to protect them. The lip balm I am currently trying out it Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I have been using it for about two months now and here is my opinion of it. Burt's Bees and you… Burt's Bees is an American company that started out making honey and beeswax candles and polishes and now have a whole range of delicious, environmentally friendly beauty products made from natural ingredients to treat yourself from head to toe. Not many of my friend's or family have heard of ... more

Advantages Advantages Soft, smooth, chap free lips.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be considered a little pricey - but worth the extra.

When it comes to treating myself, I'm not very good. I should be, seeing as I'm female and all, but I'm really not. I'm one of those people that save their money, but never spend it. However, with much thanks to and persuasion from my beloved girlfriend, I have finally begun to reap the rewards of treating myself now and again. Whilst hitting up the Boots sale on Boxing Day, I had absolutely no luck finding anything useful to be used as gifts for others, but I did come across two Burt's Bees sets stashed away out of sight on a low shelf which excited me greatly. I have seen and heard a lot ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice texture, choice of tube or pot

Disadvantages Disadvantages Drying in the long run

Burt's Bees have always been a favourite of mine, their products aren't always the cheapest but generally make up for that in quality. Their Beeswax Lip Balm has become something of a cult product but somehow, for someone who has about three lip balms in every bag, pocket and drawer I own, I had actually never tried it until my lips were sore at my mum's house and I had nothing else to hand. I'm usually quite particular about what I put on my lips, finding Carmex or Blistex can at times be too drying and in the long run cause more damage. However I was in a pinch and my lips were really sore ... more

Advantages Advantages peppermint tingle, very hydrating, attractive packaging

Disadvantages Disadvantages effects lasts longer in milder weather, applying from the tin can be a little tricky.

YUMM! :) Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. This little tin is a real gem! Supposedly the most popular product made by the company, the super-moisturising ingredients mean that especially in winter or very windy weather lips are healed and protected. --Effects-- It contains, among other things, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and the all-important beeswax! The beeswax is what apparently "seals in" the hydration. When applied to dry or chapped lips, I found that they did feel instantly smoother and soothed. In more windy conditions I had to reapply quite often though, as they started to dry out again ... more

Advantages Advantages Leaves lips nice and soft

Disadvantages Disadvantages None I can think of

I am reviewing the stick (twist up) version of this lip balm as I have never bought the little pot. I think little pots can habour more germs as you always have to stick your finger in to get any out and sometimes you might even get friends asking for some so for me pots are a no no as they are too germ riddled :) The pots do however look nice as they are made to look like old traditional tins so they do seem to have a novelty effect if you're into that kind of thing. Though another reason I prefer the stick it that it is smaller and can fit easily into your handbag or pocket. This lip balm ... more

    Advantages Advantages hydrates the lips

Disadvantages Disadvantages tin lid is hard to remove

Mind your beeswax Bert’s bees make many different items that all contain Beeswax. I have had a number of different products from their range but a firm favourite of mine is the lip balm. I like the feeling I get when I cover my lips in it and they feel very protected from the elements. I wish that it had an SPF in so that in the summer time (not that we get much of one over here) so that I can wear it more frequently throughout the year. Little tin of nectar This lip balm comes in a very cute old fashioned looking tin. The lid is air tight so keeps the lip balm fresh for when you need it. The ... more

Burt's bees are a company that specialise in natural skincare. Burt is a man who kept bees and sold honey, and the company grew from there. This lip balm is 100% natural, and something I like about Burt's Bees is that all of the products from them that I've seen have clearly stated what percentage this is, whether it's 95, 96 etc. A lot of companies would withold this informatuon unless it was 100%. I got this in the Head to Toe gift set (reviews of the other products to come), which cost me £9.99 in Waitrose, it's usually £14.99. The lip balm itself is usually around the £4 mark, and can be ... more
