Advantages Advantages Gritty! (oh, and it smells great!)

Disadvantages Disadvantages You might mistake it for a tea time treat!

Before I discuss this gem of a facial scrub, let me give you a brief history of the Burt's Bees company and product range. Formed in the late 1980's in the U.S state of Maine, by a beekeeper called Burt (well he wasn't going to be called Arthur, was he?!), Burt's Bees began life as a small cottage business making wax candles, polishes and cleaning products. Eventually the business began to diversify and expand, branching out into making natural beauty and medicinal products. The company began to trade by mail-order and is now a large well-established and well respected beauty manufacturer due ... more

    Advantages Advantages wonderful, clear skin

    Disadvantages Disadvantages smells like cake!

Oh I am so sick of having teenage skin at my age! Teenage skin with mid thirties wrinkles beginning to show. I am so depressed....sigh. I will have gone from acne to sharpei puppy with no period of glowing, line free skin in the middle. It's not fair. Advantages Advantages Ethically sound product which smells gorgeous

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very scrubby

This natural sulfate-free facial scrub is 99% natural and contains finely ground almonds, oats, pecans and rose petals to gently exfoliate skin it also contains sweet almond oil, rosemary extract, orange oil, soyabean oil, canola oil and clove flower powder. I found this quite difficult to keep on my face as the scrubby bits fell away not having a thick sticky enough base to keep everything together, after a minute or two of scrubbing there was not much left to scrub with! The scrub particles are mostly soft and i found them difficult to move around on my face so overall i didnt get much of a ... more

Advantages Advantages Great product - effective and environmentally sound

Disadvantages Disadvantages Canbe difficult to find in shops

This is another great product from the eponymous Burt. It's a really nice scrub that is slightly like rubbing marmalade on your face (but in a good way!). It's quite concentrated, so you use it by scooping a bit out of the jar into the palm of your hand and then adding water and mixing to a paste before applying to your face in smooth circular movements. Sounds like a faff, but I assure you it isn't. The scrub is gentle and very effective, leaving your skin very soft and smooth. Because it's like a partly dehydrated scrub - in that you add water to it to use it - it's quite concentrated. This ... more
