Advantages: Helpful for enticing a fussy dog to eat Disadvantages: Tins are heavy to carry home and the food itself is not pleasant smelling to us humans
Butchers tripe.
I have 3 Border collies that just adore food. They are generally easy to feed but Butchers canned meat is definitely their favorite. I put just a little about a tablespoon full in with their dried food for a treat, I also add a bit more if I have a dog who's perhaps a little off colour for any reason and is not eating so well. (This fortunately is not very often) I mainly buy it as one of my daughter's dogs who was underweight and ... ...is working.
Packaging
Butchers tripe comes in the usual standard can (same size as a baked bean can) and it comes complete with a ring pull top lid making the tin easy to open. The label around the can is quite attractive depicting a happy dog on the front with its owner out on a walk. On the back of the label is all the information about the product for example that it is made with natural ingredients and no artificial colouring etc. The information ...

Advantages: Dogs love it Disadvantages: Stinks to high heaven
...to love it. Step forward Butchers Tripe, made by Butchers Pet care, one of the most pungent tins of dog food available on the canine food shelves of shops and Supermarkets.
This whiffy concoction is available in 400, 800 and 1200 gram tins which are adorned with a blue Frisbee in flight being leapt at by a scruffy looking dog. The rest of the can is decorated with a blue sky background and a yellow band around the top stating which particular flavour ... ...to put a spoonful of Butchers tripe to my mouth. I fear I would retch if the cold, reeking meat sat on my tongue and assaulted my taste buds. So absolutely no taste test today, I’ll leave it to my dogs and try and interpret their reactions as best I can.
Lifting the lid of the can reveals a solid lump of meat similar in look and consistency to a coarse pate, and pale brown in colour. The meat is enveloped by a thin layer of clearish jelly where ...

Advantages: DOGS ACTUALLY ENJOY IT Disadvantages: MAKES ME WANT TO PUKE
...… but I will try: Butchers tinned tripe mix stinks like the miasma from a drain which has been blocked with decaying human body parts for the best part of a long, hot summer. Thus, it bears a similarity (I should imagine) to the ghastly fumes which greeted the nostrils of police officers who were investigating the morbid case of Dennis Nilsen.
Secondly, its appearance would be enough to set the alarm bells ringing for anyone sitting down for a meal, ... ...which concerns the impact of Butchers Tripe Mix on canine teeth. I've actually just chosen a random reply from the available list of options ... because the only thing I can say with any certainty is that none of my dogs' teeth have fallen out as a result of eating this stuff. ...equivalent for my dog is Butchers tripe and water with an ice cube in it!
If you buy Butchers dog food now your dog will be very happy with you as they are doing it at special offer. At the moment you can get 50% free for your dog which on a big tin that is now 1170g for 74p in Tescos definately, and will only vary a few pence in other places. My dog loves this. You get it in chicken, turkey, chicken and tripe, original and some others all of which ... ...enough to eat! Butchers is made from natural ingredients and it does not contain GM ingredients which is very good to know as I would not give that intentionally to my family so why give it to my dog. It is ideal for all breeds and sizes and not any different for pedigree dogs It does give a feeding guide on the pack although if your pouch is like mine he tells you more the feeding guide than the label does. As it is a complimentary food for dogs ...

...to swop. We swopped to Butchers and we have noticed a big difference plus he loves Butcher tins.
Butchers is made with fresh trip mix and all-meat loaf in jelly.
It is suitable for all breeds of dog and no matter what the size of your dog is. On the cans it will tell you a good feeding guide of how much of the tin to give to your dog depending on his size.
Butchers has high meat content and made with natural ingredients.
It is not bulked out ... ...not mentioned at all.
Butchers is available in 3 different can sizes, the largest being 1200g and that costs around £1.17 which I know is a bit more than Sainsburys but to have a less hyper dog is worth it!, 400g and 800g.
Dont forget to put water down for your dog as well as this food.

Advantages: It looks rather meaty Disadvantages: stinks like hell!!
...I can review most of butchers cans as my dogs have tried the lot. There are the tripe flavours, chicken and beef, and the gravy flavours chicken and veg...lamb and mint and another which i forget, all the later in juicy gravy and smell a hell of allot better. But i mainly buy the tripe.
The regular size can will cost anything from 45p to 59p and the much larger tin which is practically 3 tins in one is 1.18p, the big tin is much better value for ... ...may also sometimes mix the butchers with wholemeal bread chopped up or veg or brown rice, it bulks it up and much better in the long run for your dogs and your purse!
so go on people give this a go...im sure you wont be dissapointed, except for the extra money you will have to soend in buying a mask to hide the smell!
thanks for reading :) ...

Advantages: My dogs thoroughly enjoy it Disadvantages: It does smell a bit
...fact, I would say that Butchers is probably one of their favourite foods. However, I only tend to feed my dogs canned foods as a special treat, they normally eat complete food as my vet advised me that it's much better for them.
Butchers is definitely one of the better dog foods, not only do my dogs really enjoy it but they're full of energy after eating it. I would recommend Butchers to all owners of medium to large dogs, I wouldn't recommend it ...

I don't know if you've ever smelt tripe before but it really isn't nice. I cannot understand why anyone could want to inflict such a disgusting substance on anything particularly their prized pet.
I admit that my dog wasn't put off by the smell and did at least try the food when put in front of her but I have avoided it since for my own benefit.
This food is a reasonable price and may be popular with some canine but not mine in particular. I won't ...

I have two dogs, a yorkshire terrier and a poodle. To be honest they are very choosy about what they will and won't eat. "Yes they are spoilt."
Last week I thought I would try the canned variety of dog food, so bought Butcher's Tripe and Chicken.
I served it up just as it came out of the tin, the smell was terrible.
It just has to be the worst smelling dog food.
Both dogs refused to eat it, preferring to do without food. The caption on the tin ...

I bought my dog, a adult male border collie cross, a pack of six Butcher's Natural Nutrition canned dog food, simply because it was on 'Roll Back' special offer in my local Asda. Quick review of Butchers Tripe
my staffy would not eat anything. I tried every brand, she would eat for a couple of days and then leave it.
I bought Butchers tripe about 3months ago and she just devours every mouthful.
I like the consistency of the meat its nice and thick and she seems to enjoy all the flavours.
Her coat is definately looking really healthy and she is putting on weight.
The only complaint i have is that i cannot always see which flavour i am giving her as the tins all look the same. ...

Advantages: Cheap and filling Disadvantages: Not tasty enough to eat all the time
The range has a good variety of flavours and seems to go down well with my Jack Russell however, he does get bored with it. I also find that I have to cut it up well because it is dense in consistancy and his little mouth finds it hard to bite off big chunks.
The smell is not too bad despite it being tripe based and mixed with a few biscuits it makes a good meal.
A small but somewhat important fact is that the cans come with a ring pull to save ...
