Advantages Advantages Can have good deals on games and movies, can be a place to find old items you need

Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer service, online shop customer service bad, returns policy unfair

This is more of a what to expect if you decide to go to a CEX shop as it can catch many people unaware on what to expect when they go in, but also my opinion on whether or not you should shop there. I have had the fortunate (or unfortunate depending on your perception) luck of having experienced this company online and in person at various stores throughout the UK. CEX (Computer Exchange) is this massive, red store that sells second hand electronic entertainment goods as well as video games, DVDs, Blu-Ray movies and computer software. If you want something that is relatively old, chances are ... more

Advantages Advantages Great bargains and good trade-in prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quality not always good

I first discovered CeX when I was hoping to make a bit of money by trading in a few old video games that I no longer wanted. I was planning on gathering them together and taking them along to my local video game store, when I stumbled across a very useful review about one of these stores. It was advising people that if they wanted to get a better deal they should try CeX, as it tends to offer better cash and trade-in prices. A Google search took me to the CeX website, and I quickly discovered the location of my nearest store. There isn’t on in my own town, which is probably why I had never ... more

Advantages Advantages They have many items to look through

Disadvantages Disadvantages You never know how good the product is because lack of testing by staff

CEX is a store which deals with trading products and then selling them at cheap prices. The store manages to sell quite a few items such as games and DVD’s but they also sell electrical items such as mobile phones as well and they do this is a way of trading. The deal is that when you want to buy an item you walk in and assess the area you want to check out so if you’re after games you towards that section and they have games for all consoles there and they all have various prices depending usually on how long ago they were released and secondly how rare they are to see. You might find a game ... more

Cex was founded in 1992, with a unique business selling model of buy and sell, believing that everyones stuff has a value that can be unlocked. Its a recycling business that buys and sells peoples games, dvd's, consumer eletronics, computers and phones. Advantages Advantages Cheap products. The staff are nice.

Disadvantages Disadvantages They are cheap for a reason (second hand, not guaranteed to work)

How it works. If anyone is looking to sell any used electrical items, and want a good pirce put on them, then you simply gather all your products together and take them down to your local CEX store (they are everywhere now), and the staff simply scan your items and they telll you how much the company will offer you for your items. For example: You may decide to take to the store... Robin Hood for DVD, Sims 3 for Play station 3 and Ipod touch 16GB. CEX willl offer you £1.20 for the Robin Hood DVD, £9 for The sims 3 for play station 3 and £60 for you 16GB Ipod touch, the company then sell your ... more

Advantages Advantages Wide range of products at fair prices. Offer competitive rates if selling.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can often be queuing for a while. Sometimes doesn't have what you're looking for.

Normally if a shop is named CEX or something of the like, then you could expect to see windows shielded with blinds and a discreet entrance. But fear not. This particular shop has an entrance that's screaming to be entered. For you see CEX actually stands for Computer Exchange, and is a place where you can buy and sell consoles and games, DVD's, CD'S, Mobile phones and accessories and even books. My review bodes particular reference to the Southampton branch of the store. Spread across 2 floors, the store is quite easily organised. As you are likely to find in most other computer game stores ... more

Advantages Advantages good trade in, bargains, nice store, bags

Disadvantages Disadvantages staff perception of quality, queues

I have worked about 2 minutes from my local CEX store for about 2 years but only realised exactly what it was a few months ago. CEX (Entertainment Exchange) is a trade-in store for your olds DVDs, CDs and console games as well as mobile phones and the console themselves. I have also noticed recently that some CEX stores take laptops and other larger electrical goods as well for a trade in price. They buy them from you and then sell them on in store. It is a fantastic place to find bargains. Having done some shopping in HMV, buying a couple of DVDs for £10, I went to see their second hand price ... more

    Advantages Advantages Competetive Prices

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Customer Service

CEX, for those who don't know, is basically a pawn shop for electronic goods and accessories similar to Cash Converters. As I, like most people, tend to need more money than I get given. So, to have a shop pay you for reasonable prices for your expendable goods is a really useful utility. The prices paid for the more luxurious or recent items by CEX seems pretty fair and appear to set them apart from the competitors. I've sold them plenty of items in the past but recently I have also had a few problems to deal with. Apparently, CEX require you leave certain items overnight for 'testing'. For ... more

Advantages Advantages great selection, dvd prices are good

Disadvantages Disadvantages exploits product demand, staff are not fantastic

Ah, the ironically named store. Especially ironic given that it's effectively a pawn shop which is described by just about everyone as "the sex shop". Make of that what you will! But, on to serious matters. CeX, however you want to pronounce it is now a common high street shop offering used electronics, dvd's (and in some cases cds) and video games of various guises. The idea is that you trade in your old gear, you either get cash or a credit note - the latter is always worth more - and you can then buy other used stuff at less than the RRP (recommended retail price). This works quite well ... more

Advantages Advantages Great trade in prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Staff can be terrible

I'm in two minds about Computer Exchange, some visits I leave the store thinking "yeah, that was good, I'll pop in next time I'm in town" and then others "I hate that place, that's the last time they will see me" I have been a customer to the store for probably 8 or 10 years. Within that time I can honestly say I don't think I have ever purchased anything outright. It's all about the trade in's, the main reason why people love the place. You see CEX give very good trade in prices on anything from a Nintendo DS game, to a PSP console, a DVD box set to a mobile phone. They also give cash which ... more
