These books are sold in places such as WH Smiths and Water stones, but they’re also sold on the internet, sometimes for a cheaper price. Advantages Advantages Covers pretty much everything you need to know

Disadvantages Disadvantages There is so much!

I am doing my GCSE's very soon, and so have been revising for the past few weeks. The revision books my school sells are CGP, so it made sense to buy them! In this review i will be reviewing GCSE level Science, Maths and History CGP revision books. The Science books are at higher level, the Maths at intermediate and the History is Modern World History. The History and Maths books are for no specified exam board, and the Science book is for AQA modular science. SCIENCE There are 2 books needed when revising modular science. One is the 'early modules' revision guide, which is needed throughout ... more

Advantages Advantages Very clear and easy to understand, covers what you need to know, colourful, humourous

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, it's still revision and therefore not the most fantastically exciting thing to read

I used the CGP AS and A2 level Biology AQA revision guides when studying for my A-levels. The books usually cost around £10, but seeing as my school had bought them in bulk and was selling them off for £3 each, I figured I'd give it a go. I was never very good at revising, but figured I should probably make an effort for my A-levels and the CGP books did look nice and user friendly. They aren't ridiculously thick either. Layout I think the layout of the AS & A2 biology revision guides was brilliant. The pages were colourful (without being over the top or too distracting) and there were no ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic value; relevant infomation; tailored specifially for the exam specifiation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Little 'jokes' in the book don't really do much for me; workbook answers sold separatly

CGP Guides Simply put, these guides are the best value revision guides available. Don't be caught out by more expensive alternatives- not only are these great value, they are packed full of interesting and- most importantly- relevent information, specifically tailored to the current exams. Now nearing the end of Year 11, I have used these throughout my GCSEs, and have experience in using- *Edexcel360 Science *Biology *Chemistry *Physics *Lord of the Flies *Edexcel Linear Maths *Geography *Edexcel Music Areas of Study *AQA Higher French *AQA English A Poems from Heaney, Clarke and Pre-1914 *AQA ... more

Advantages Advantages Detailed, yet to the point, high-quality, professional appearance, illustrative, comical

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some jokes aren't funny - just stupid, underlining-heavy and repetition (see review)

When it comes to revision, we need the facts straight away and to the point, without having to wade through endless bits of boring twaddle just to learn one simple point, right? Well this is the job that GGP revision guides aims to undertake, and they have done so very well indeed. WHY PICK CGP REVISION GUIDES? Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be a bit boring to look at a page for ages.

CGP revision guides, in my opinion aswell as notes from teachers are one of the best tools for revising. It has everything you need to know in the very concisley and in language you can easily understand. GCSE's are very boring, with all the revisions, but the revision guides are availiable in every subject you can imagine. All you need to know in each subject is right there infront of you. Learn it all, and you will ace the exams. ------------------------ WHY BUY THEM. ------------------------ - All the information is in one place - yes revision is boring, but when all the notes are in one ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes there is too much underlining

Revision can often be boring, dull and tedious. Having to sort through endless notes and boring revision guides just adds to the problem. Let's face it, revision is boring. Right? Advantages Advantages Easy to understand, pictures, humour

Disadvantages Disadvantages Colour scheme & layout often complicates the text, the humour's not always suited

The CGP Revision Guide range offers supportive guides for students of all ages, ranging from aged 4 nursery children, to students of 18 studying A level. The subjects vary depending on the age of study, but most books for each age band contain the relevant, vital subjects such as Maths, English and Science. The books I have come in to contact with in the past were supplied by the school for KS3 SATS and GCSE. I found both books to be of a similar consistency, using the same sort of layout and the same methods of writing. One thing that stands prominent about this book series is the humour ... more

Advantages Advantages Funny (kind of) well layed out, compressed knowledge, price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to understand,

As a 17 year old student i thought i'd give my opinion of these guides. Personally i own quite a few, and i have found them useful. They are humourous (kind of) and they have good diagrams, unfortunatly they aren't idiot proof, and you need to know your stuff before you can use them, which can cause a problem as most of the time, i don't have a clue about it, and so these guides arn't the best, i suppose they are good for revision but that's about it. Some revision guides will give you a more full explanation of things. Also unfortunatly, these revision guides seem to support the dreadful (in ... more
