CGP Revision Guides Helped Me Get My A*'s! Review with images

Advantagesthey help significantly towards coursework and exams.

Disadvantages-

"...a boring text book. The CGP revision guides offer puns and diagrams compacted onto their every page. The use of bright colours they use throughout the books will most definitely attract the younger children, such as Key Stage 1 or 2 children. I think that CGP really get their target audience spot on and know how to write for the specific age group that they’re aiming their product at. Also, in my opinion they have done so well because a lot of schools ..." Read review

Revision....

AdvantagesCovers pretty much everything you need to know

DisadvantagesThere is so much!

"...level Science, Maths and History CGP revision books. The Science books are at higher level, the Maths at intermediate and the History is Modern World History. The History and Maths books are for no specified exam board, and the Science book is for AQA modular science. SCIENCE There are 2 books needed when revising modular science. One is the 'early modules' revision guide, which is needed throughout year 10, as separate modular tests are taken ..." Read review

CGP are the best by far (AQA A-Level Biology) Review with images

AdvantagesVery clear and easy to understand, covers what you need to know, colourful, humourous

DisadvantagesExpensive, it's still revision and therefore not the most fantastically exciting thing to read

"I used the CGP AS and A2 level Biology AQA revision guides when studying for my A-levels. The books usually cost around £10, but seeing as my school had bought them in bulk and was selling them off for £3 each, I figured I'd give it a go. I was never very good at revising, but figured I should probably make an effort for my A-levels and the CGP books did look nice and user friendly. They aren't ridiculously thick either. ===Layout=== I think ..." Read review

CGP Guides: Cheap, easy-to-understand and full of useful facts

AdvantagesFantastic value; relevant infomation; tailored specifially for the exam specifiation

DisadvantagesLittle 'jokes' in the book don't really do much for me; workbook answers sold separatly

"...board. ===Different Guides for Different People=== Several CGP Guides are usually available for each subject, tailored specifically for various exam board (for example, there may be a different guide for the same subject, one for OCR, one for Edexcel, one for AQA.), so it's important to get the correct guide, to avoid revising information that you don't need to know. There are also several guides for subject, each dealing with a specific part . ..." Read review

Certainly Good Publications

AdvantagesDetailed, yet to the point, high-quality, professional appearance, illustrative, comical

DisadvantagesSome jokes aren't funny - just stupid, underlining-heavy and repetition (see review)

"...so very well indeed. WHY PICK CGP REVISION GUIDES? CGP is known for its succinct, entertaining and professional technique in delivering knowledge to its readers. When compared with other revision guides, I have found CGP to be far more entertaining to read, with pictures and illustrations here and there, and plenty of colour. It also includes some jokes at the end of the page. These jokes aren't exactly going to knock Peter Kay out of the limelight, ..." Read review

CGP The best resources for revision.

AdvantagesEasy, all in one place, affordable, trys to make revising fun.

DisadvantagesCan be a bit boring to look at a page for ages.

"CGP revision guides, in my opinion aswell as notes from teachers are one of the best tools for revising. It has everything you need to know in the very concisley and in language you can easily understand. GCSE's are very boring, with all the revisions, but the revision guides are availiable in every subject you can imagine. All you need to know in each subject is right there infront of you. Learn it all, and you will ace the exams. ------------------------ WHY ..." Read review

Clearly Great People make these books Review with images

AdvantagesFun, easy to follow, clear diagrams

DisadvantagesSometimes there is too much underlining

"...to a certain extent but CGP guides make revision a little easier and less dull. ~ So, what are CGP guides? ~ CGP stands for Coordination Group Publications. They are a company which produce revision guides from KS1 (aged 5-7) to A-level (aged 16-18.) They also have a range of practice papers for Scottish and Adult education. They also have Welsh revision guides. I first started using CGP books when I was in year 9. At this time we only used ..." Read review

Revision made simple - CGP

AdvantagesEasy to understand, pictures, humour

DisadvantagesColour scheme & layout often complicates the text, the humour's not always suited

"The CGP Revision Guide range offers supportive guides for students of all ages, ranging from aged 4 nursery children, to students of 18 studying A level. The subjects vary depending on the age of study, but most books for each age band contain the relevant, vital subjects such as Maths, English and Science. The books I have come in to contact with in the past were supplied by the school for KS3 SATS and GCSE. I found both books to be of a similar ..." Read review

CGP revision guides GCSE AS/A2 level

AdvantagesFunny (kind of) well layed out, compressed knowledge, price

Disadvantageshard to understand,

"...with a few jokes, with CGP if this suits you, then go for it. These revision guides saved me in terms of my A2 Chemistry and Physics last min revision (just thought i'd let you know!) The other thing about these is that they are reasonable priced if your school buys them in bulk then sells them to you, so that could be worth recommending to your teacher, or if you are a teacher, i've told you now! They are normally quite squashed on the pages, ..." Read review

Makes revision fun!

AdvantagesCovers virtually every aspect of the subject, inexpensive, humour

Disadvantagescan't really think of any!

"...and 16, I found the CGP revision guides very helpful whilst studying for my GCSEs. I used the books for English, Maths (intermediate tier), French, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (all higher tier). I believe the best books were the science and maths ones - the science ones proved very useful when revising for the modular exams which happened at the end of each term, and I also found the maths book helpful for my coursework assignments. Therefore, ..." Read review

CGP = Colourful Great Pictures

Advantagesfun diagrams and colourful notes make you remember more

DisadvantagesYou can't take them into the exam and not all subjects are covered

"...difference being that they say CGP on the front. They feature the same formal style of questions and give the same time limits as the real exams. Each set comes in a thick brown envolope, which is a bit scary when you are in a panicy-exam-nearing frame of mind! Each set contains three sets of practice papers and an answer booklet which fully explains the mark scheme and features hints for the exam itself. Even in the panicy-exam-nearing frame of ..." Teach yourself with the CGP GCSE revision books!

AdvantagesGet 2 grades higher than you were expected.

DisadvantagesCan be a little laborious revising.

"At the ages of 14 & 15, i was an absolute slacker, messing about in lessons at every oppurtunity, and getting myself into all sorts of trouble. Then, when year 11 came, i decided it was time for a change, if i really wanted a good career, i'd have to 'pull my socks up', and fast. Having struggled with science for years, i decided that learning in lessons just wouldnt be enough. I had to start using my initiative. So...When i found out about the ..." Read review

"...to give my opinion on CGP Revision Guides. +Introduction+ CGP revision guides are a fun and easy way to learn. Instead of making you search through reams of rubbish it has it all there for you, making each page as important as the last. Advantageshelps you get the best grades you can

Disadvantageswaaaay to hard to put down

"...what a nightmare! But the CGP Maths, English and Science revision guides were fantastic. They had humour, great pictures and clear, useful information. The questions at the end of each section helped you revise and think back about what you had learnt, and gave me a greater understanding of each topic. Thanks to these guides i got straight 7's. The English guide also helped me on my way to getting 100% in the shakespeare exam. I used them in Year ..." Read review
