Imagine, if you will, some future world devoid of cocoa trees. Imagine an archaeologist picking over a landfill site and uncovering a sweet wrapper or two. A purple piece of foil with TWIRL in bright yellow letters catches his eye. "Hmm, most interesting," he remarks and putting his eyeglass to the wrapper he marvels at the list of ingredients: "Milk, Sugar, Cocoa butter, Cocoa mass, Vegetable fat - I know some of these." He reads on, "Emulsifier E442 - certainly heard of that one!" After further careful study he may arrive at the assumption, "These people certainly knew a good thing. I wonder ... more

Background: I always think you should review products that have had an effect on you, be it positive or negative. So with that in mind I am today reviewing the Twirl bar, this is made by Cadbury’s. About the company: The Cadbury’s story starts back in 1824 when John Cadbury opened his first shop in Birmingham. It was not till 1897 the first milk chocolate was developed for eating. In 1905 Dairy Milk was launched. Since then the company has continued to grow and expand both markets and product ranges. They have merged with Fry’s and Schweppes but since have de-merged with Schweppes. By 2003 ... more

1987 is not a year that I remember a whole lot about, I was too young at the time to remember much. However it was a year with some significance in the confectionary world. Not only did it see the demise of Funny Feet (those ice-creams shaped like huge feet) but it saw the introduction of the Cadbury’s Twirl. If I am honest my memories of the Cadbury’s Twirl are a little hazy. I can remember having several but they never really made it as a favourite chocolate bar in our house. In fact I think the only times I ever had a Twirl was when they came in a selection box or an Easter Egg. So I reckon ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's chocolate, the diet destroyer

Warning: This opinion carries an X rating (thats eXtra chocolate baby) The car is a sanctuary. Being under pressure as I am to loose weight, popping to the shops becomes an absolute pleasure; instead of the usual ‘can’t it wait till Friday (big shop day at Asda) it’s ‘no problem, what do we need’. Now you may be asking why (or you might be thinking, ‘why the hell doesn’t he get on with it’, tough, my op, my rules (if that’s ok with Ciao, gulp!)). Well popping to the shops is a great way to get to see my other love, chocolate. Ahhh, see my logic now. Unfortunately the chocolate I like the best ... more

Anybody that hangs on my every word (anybody??) will know that my husband and I have a really way out habit. Yes: every day after lunch we share a chocolate bar! I know what you’re thinking; well you’re dead right so hang onto your hats kids because there’s no end of crazy anarchic fun around here! So to get our daily choccy fix without over-doing the naughty fat grams and calorific hell I have taken to purchasing bars that are sold in two sections (Nobel prize in the post, no doubt). Let me see…Milky Ways, Bounty Bars (preferably plain choccy variety), the goody-goody Flyte bars and Cadbury’s ... more

Chocolate flake covered in chocolate. Have I died and gone to heaven? No I have just bought a Twirl. It comes complete with rather dull packaging - blue with yellow writing. Not good but it covers the bar and keeps it fresh. The most important thing here is to keep the chocolate in good condition. Twirl is made by Cadburys and is a newish addition to the chocolate snack range. The Flake started the range all those years ago. The Flake was the dawn of the age where less chocolate could be sold for more money, by making the chocolate into an interesting shape and advertising it heavily. The ... more

Taking care of your body isn't always easy and everyone who is on a diet should know that. There are so many things that have to be balanced and so many calories that have to be counted. It really takes the fun out of eating. However a lot of people who do diet should know that there are certain sins or days where you can eat what you want during the week.I always let myself have at least 1 day (and lately more than that lol)to eat whatever my heart desires. And you know what it desires? What it REALLY desires? Some chocolate! Now normally I would go out and buy dairy milk but I figured that's too ... more

What more could I ask for than a crispy flake completely covered in chocolate. I love Flakes at the best of times, but when they are smothered in even more chocolate I’m in heaven. I bought mine in a multi pack, which cost me 99p for four bars. Individually these two-fingered bars can cost about 30p each where I live. I prefer these straight out of the fridge so they are nice and crispy, and don’t melt all over my fingers. The foil purple packaging with “Twirl” covering the front in bright yellow wrapping, works surprisingly well together. When you think about it ... more

■The Brand■ Cadbury's chocolate is unique. It has that certain something that just makes it that little bit nicer than any other chocolate. However nice something else seems, it just can't beat that unforgettable Cadbury taste. But enough about the brand, I'm sure everyone knows enough about the brand. So on with the Twirl... ■The Twirl■ What is it? So obviously the Twirl is a chocolate bar, but it is not just any old normal chocolate bar, no, because it is TWO chocolate bars! Well two thinner milk chocolate fingers are included in the Twirl packet. They consist of ... more

On a recent trip to B+M I decided I was going to get my self a large stash of of chocolate bars, including: Fudges (6 of), Curly Wurly's (5 of), Daim (4 of), Twirls (7 of), all for less than £5, which lets be honest, was wonderfully brilliant, gotta love the budget stores in this time of financial hardhsip. This review in particular is for the Twirl's, that was 5 multipack bars with 2 free (so 7 bars), each is double fingered but shorter than the normal twirls (I think...or at least hope, as these look tiny). Although they aren't particularly cheap when bought singularly, the multi-pack ... more
