A disaster

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesPlenty

"...tried to sign up to CallNet months ago and was promised an adapter to allow the free calls to be made. I waited weeks and heard nothing from them. I queried the delay and was told that I should have already received the adapter and that it would be with me very soon. After several weeks I finally phoned up to cancel the order, reasoning that a company so disorganised would be worth avoiding (not that I really had a choice). A few weeks later ..." Read review

Very disappointing

AdvantagesFree internet calls

DisadvantagesSlow, don't seem to be organised at all, selectively answer emails, don't want you to contact them

"...just as everything seemed fine, callnet decided to take £20 out of my account for no reason. I tried to get in contact with them but the only email on the website was technical support, who I received a reply from after a week giving me a different email address. I sent my email to the new address who failed to respond at all. With no alternative I had to phone the only number on their website which was technical support charged at 60p a minute. After ..." Revolutionary ISP with problem

Advantagescompletely free

Disadvantagesfrequent busy tone, inaccessible technical service

"Callnet0800 is a revolutionary ISP which first brought the 0800 internet access to consumers in UK. They have done a great job and has a reasonable business model which intend to fund their operation through e-commerce and telecom revenue. They have been there for more than a year and I believe they will continue to be there in the future. They offer good value on internet access where a £20 Smart-dialing box is all you have to pay in order to enjoy ..." Read review

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

AdvantagesCost zip!

DisadvantagesTakes ages to get on the net

"A half a year ago I could not wait to get callnet! free net calls and 30% of phone bills! Now I like the bit about the free phone calls - though I have not got a bill! The box takes years to come! I can not get on the net for hours with it enganged tone going on and on my advive is to let it have a few attemps and leave in ringing whilst you do something else! this service is so slow and help you if you want to download, though it is free and ..." too good to be true?

AdvantagesFree internet 24 hours a day

Disadvantagesslow connection

"Callnet 0800 is by far the best internet provider you can get if you are on the net more than 2 hours a day. It is totaly free accept for an intial charge at the beginning to get a dialer that you plug into the the phone socket. This costs £20. Delivery takes about 1 month but the wait is worth it. You can go online any time of the day absolutely free for a miaximum time of 1 hour until you get disconnected and you then have to dial up again. This ..." Read review

24 by 7 totally free including Phone calls

AdvantagesTotally Free 24 * 7 Internet Calls, and 30% off non internet calls

DisadvantagesInitial sign up problems if put spaces between STD code and rest of phone number

"I originally saw the wonderful TV adverts for 4Unet which promised totally free internet access 24 hours per day 7 days per week, all via a free phone adapter box which connects to your phone line. Well I also came across CallNet0800 which do a remarkably similar offer, if not the same. You pay £20 for the adaptor box, but then are given 4 £5 vouchers which can be used to deduct from the monthly bills. After initial problems with my registration ..." Read review

CallNet 0800

AdvantagesFree

DisadvantagesBe realistic and they don't matter

"I tried to join CallNet 0800 back in January before I got my latest PC. Unfortunately the offer was closed to new customers at the time and I had to make repeat visits until I could send in my details. At last I managed, but then the next waiting stage began - it took ages to get the promised registration details, longer than the 28 days promised, but, at last they came !! I plugged the box into my main line, logged on to the net, completed ..." Read review

Too bad to be true!

AdvantagesCompletely free

DisadvantagesEnagaged lines, connection errors, poor transfer rates, terrible customer service

"I signed up for Callnet a few months ago, at the beginning of the free internet access revolution. I paid £20 for a box, which routes your calls through Callnet's network and, in return, got four £5 vouchers to use against future phone bills. However, in a typical representation of the service I have come to expect from Callnet, I have yet to even receive a phone bill for the non-internet calls I made over four months ago! As for the internet access, ..." Read review

VERY disappointing

Advantagesnothing

Disadvantagesslow, hard to connect

"...I finally said goodbye to callnet when they announced that they were ending their free internet, and they tried to get me to join their new service saying that all calls were a penny a minute except at peak rate - which is a very dodgy way to put it, as in effect, it is only the weekends and evenings which they were offering at a penny a minute. This is no cheaper than BT. ..." Read review

FREE!! ISP, with speed

AdvantagesQuick, and reliable

DisadvantagesOnce initial glitches are sorted

"Only recently did I sign up for this ISP, and I was a bit sceptical, but I went ahead, and it took about 2 months longer than they said to get the box, by which time I was a bit annoyed. Any way I tried the box, and I couldn't get through, no matter what I tried, so I tried again, and again. about another 4-5 weeks later it transpired taht my account hadn't been activated, so they did so there & then and I still couldn't get through. Then just as ..." Read review

you get what you pay for

AdvantagesFREE

DisadvantagesIT DONT WORK

"I tried to join callnet before christmas but did not get accepted till march when they took my credit card details and charged me £20 for a little box which you attach to main phone to route your calls. You then get 30% off BT standard rates and free internet access sounds great dont it. The downside is you are disconnected from the internet after a hour so no good for online gaming, but even worse than that is the last couple of weeks you cannot ..." Read review
