Advantages Advantages Some truly epic moments

Disadvantages Disadvantages Shooting gallery mechanics occasionally grate

There's a moment in Modern Warfare where I realised Infinity Ward had utterly nailed the metamorphosis of Call of Duty. Playing as a U.S. Marine and staggering from the flaming ruins of a downed chopper, I fell and breathed my last toxic breaths surveying a scene of desolate post-nuclear destruction. This interlude was entirely for dramatic effect, you see, and on its own would have been a pretty awesome moment for any FPS. Yet it was something else which made this a uniquely refreshing inclusion for a game in the genre: the Americans were partly to blame. Freed from the shackles of historical ... more

Advantages Advantages Great story, Excellent online game and Best ending to a game!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Yet to find any!

CALL OF DUTY 4: Modern Warfare All of the other call of duty series are set in the times of world war one or world war two. To mix things up and to keep the Call Of Duty series fresh and exciting infinity ward have now made a war game set on modern day fighting. I am pleased to say that infinity ward have made a brilliant game and Call of Duty 4 will be played and enjoyed for many years to come! STORY As I have already mentioned, Call of Duty 4 is set in modern times. You will travel to many different middle eastern countries in an attempt to find the leader of a group of terrorists. Advantages Advantages Realism, Graphics, Sound, Controls, Superb tactical gameplay, Variety of areas and weapons

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes skill to play online or can be boring, Story lacks a bit

I first thought the Call Of Duty series was respectable upon the release of Call Of Duty 2, where you fought in the second world war. It was very realistic and enjoyable to play as tactics were key. I bought this game about a year back and am still playing it to this date. It's a superb game and much improved over previous versions, although not currently the newest, with the release of Call Of Duty: World At War. Many people still play this game online and the single player is fantastic too. Story - 7/10 There isn't really much of a story to the single player. You fight as part of US forces ... more

Advantages Advantages Great story, graphice on line play

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't find any yet

Ok I know I said that after my last game review I would grow up and start finding something more constructive to do while my foot is healing but when my eldest monster bought this game I couldn't resist having a little play, I mean a girl is allowed a little fun isn't she? As I have mentioned before I really enjoyed Call of Duty 3 and I wasn't too sure how they could improve this series, especially the on-line play. I felt that another game could push the series a bit thin a bit like some sequels to films. So after playing this now since its release was I left disappointed or did it completely ... more

Advantages Advantages Every Aspect Of The Game

Disadvantages Disadvantages None Really, More weapons and abilities perhaps?

This game is by far the most popular call of duty game released, and it is not hard to see why, there are many many positive points to this game. Story The story for this can take part in many locations throughout the game, Prypiat, Russia and the middle east, You are hunting down the terrorists as mainly a young SAS member named Soap MacTavish, but also as Sergeant Paul Jackson of the USMC. You Will be in search of a terrorist named al-asad who publicly performs an assassination, later evidence shows that imran zakhaev, as you play through the story you encounter many great levels shooting ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic Graphics, Brilliant gameplay, The Sniper Mission

    Disadvantages Disadvantages To short.

*NB This is a repost. I have added details about multiplayer on X - Box live.* I am a massive fan of first person shooters but for some reason I haven't really had much to do with the Call of Duty series. I own Call of Duty 2 for X - Box but wasn't really that impressed to be honest with you. Compared to Brothers in Arms and Medal of Honour I found Call of Duty 2 to be far to easy and although the concept of following the 1st Division through the war was interesting I found there was far to little story line. Additionally the levels were basic and over to quickly. So when a friend offered to ... more

Advantages Advantages Gameplay, graphics, mission style and script

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of co-op mode, no split screen xbox live multiplayer

Essentially a standard FPS, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare stands high above the rest, carving a new path in the oh-so-typical and familiar world of war games. The Call of Duty franchise has been going now since the original game was created in the fall of 2003, and has since released a steady stream of games (each of terrific quality) into the public domain. Initially no more original really than the Medal of Honour games, with it's increase in popularity the franchise has begun pushing the boundaries and Call of Duty 2 and 3 saw some real leaps in graphics and in gameplay style. The latest ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Story mode short and no online achievements - only single player ones.

Halo 3? Forget it! This game is the ONLY one I always play now. Why? It has unbelievable multiplayer for starters. Forget the Halo 3 multiplayer experience. That's outdated now. Look to Call of Duty 4. But first, let's go into the single player mode. The single player story mode pits you as Private Soap McTavish to start off with. He is a new recruit with the British SAS. You got to do a training session for the first part of the story mode. After completing that, you go and try to eliminate a nuclear threat from Al-Asad and his group of terrorists after they claim the west has destroyed their ... more

Advantages Advantages Stunning graphics, Great gameplay, Online play never gets boring

Disadvantages Disadvantages No co-op mode (offline & online), Regenerating health may annoy some

This was one of my first Xbox 360 games and I think I have played it more than all my other games collectively. It was also the first COD game that I have bought and the story made perfect sense nonetheless, so this would be the perfect game to get you started. The storyline is interesting, relatively easy to follow and does not require an much political knowledge. It revolves around a possible-WWIII style situation in which has you dropped into various locations around the Middle East and Russia. From there, the story gradually unfolds. The gameplay is coated with a sort of slick realism ... more

Advantages Advantages fun to play, amazing detail, great sound, online functions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Angering, not for under 18s

By now, most people will have at least heard of Call Of Duty games. Well my partner introduced these to me, and the first one he actually bought was Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We are now up to Modern Warfare 2, and Black ops, with Modern Warfare 3 due for release in November, but the Original Modern Warfare is still a great game, and it is what started the madness of Call of Duty. Obviously being game 4 of the COD series, there is 3 other games before Modern Warfare, but these were for PC and never took off as big as Modern Warfare has done. I was never into 1st person shooters, or ... more
