Firstly, what is Call of Duty (COD)? The gaming series is a first person shooter where you take control of a number of soldiers in various settings and scenarios trying to overcome powerful and brutal opposition. I played COD1 and COD2 on the PC when they were first out and loved them. When COD3 was only available on console, I lost touch with the series as I couldn't stand using sticks to control someone when I was so used to PC mouse-keyboard. Half a decade later, the 6th instalment is out after much hype. It was the first game I played on my newly purchase PS3 Slim and the first first ... more

The wait is finally over and Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 has finally arrived. I was eagerly anticipating its release, so much so that I pre-ordered it the first day that it was available to do so. The original Modern Warfare and World at War are probably my 2 favourite games of all time, so would one of the most hyped up games of all time, live up to expectations ? ~~~ First Impressions ~~~ Right from the beginning I was impressed. The adverts before the actual game are again skippable, which means you're ready to start shooting in seconds. The first menu lets you go into whichever game ... more

Modern Warfare 2 is quite simply the greatest first person shooter ever made. There, I said it. And I said it without reservation or a trace of doubt. Normally I hate when people gush all over a game just because it's new and popular, but in this case, I can't help it. No matter which point of view you look at it from, whether it be sound, graphics, gameplay, storyline, characters or multiplayer options, Modern Warfare 2 is a triumph of gaming. It's no secret that the first Modern Warfare was an excellent game, reinvigorating what had become a tired series of WW2 shooters and turning it into ... more

Advantages Advantages Engaging campaign, fun-as-hell multiplayer, addictive new spec-op's, fantastic presentation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Campaign is way too short, characters need more depth, maybe too difficult for some

How could one resist the prospect of buying the highest grossing game of all time? I mean, it has to be good right? Well, yes; but it does have its faults. The game is split into 3 different sections. The first you'll want to check out is the Campaign (story) mode. The game is a bit light on the story elements unfortunately. It continues from the last game and features many of the same characters (like Soap and Price) but you don't need to play the original to keep up to date with what's going on. Before each mission you are briefed on what the task for it will be in a slideshow-esque brief ... more

Modern Warfare 2 Introduction Oh my god, modern warfare 2 is out and I’ve got it. With over 7 million copies sold world wide, on released date, modern warfare has no shortage of people to play with. Modern warfare 2 is the sequel to most probably the best shooter of all time (until this one) and this one expands and improves in almost everyway. There has been a lot of controversy about certain content which personally I don’t see that much of a problem with but if you don’t want to see it you can block that section out so what’s the biggy. Modern warfare 2 contains a brilliant campaign which ... more

As many of you already know Modern Warfare 2 has been out for quite some time but I only bought it last month so I want to share my own opinions/views on it. Modern Warfare 2 was created by Activision and was released in November 2009. The game was meant to be based on the original Modern Warfare with of course new added features. Fans expected a great game after the success of Modern Warfare and they were not to be disappointed as i believe Modern Warfare 2 met the expectations. The game play is smooth and is not jerky which is how I found Black Ops to be. The campaign like all Call of Duty’s ... more

As you can probably tell by the title of the review, you are about to hear a lot of praise for this game but at the same time, I will tell you about the few flaws that it has. As a bit of background, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (The predecessor of this game) was huge, and rocked the gaming community to it's core. However the question was, how can it possibly get better? Well it has and has resulted into an almost perfect videogame. Firstly, i'll cover the basics, the game consists of 17 missions which you will view through the eyes of two armed forces, the Rangers (Representative of the US ... more

Unlike the masses I didn't go out and buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) when it was first released. In fact it was a good two months after its release when I picked up a copy of the first Modern Warfare game. However after blasting my way through the first game and thoroughly enjoying the experience I managed to pick up the Hardened Edition of MW2 for the same price as the Normal Edition. Within this package you get MW2, an art book for MW2 and a credit for the download of Call of Duty: Classic from the Playstation Network. These additions to what is already quite a complete package ... more

So, of Call of Duty MW2. Or, Modern Warfare 2 for those of us who have a life. Although it’s been out for a few months, and I’m probably the last person to play it, in the whole of the western world, I was quite happy when I found out my Dad had bought it. Yes, my 50-something year old father had bought it before me. I’d like to think of myself as a hip youngster. (I’m nearly 19, and not a grey hair in sight!) Just as I had recovered from the shame, he announced ‘Since I’ve finished it twice, I guess you can borrow it if you’d like’. Just as I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Anyway, I ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Campaign could be improved.

Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most hyped games of all time. It sold around 4.7 million copies on the first day of release, in both the UK and US. It had great sales, but is is it worthy of the hype? So, you might be wondering what Call of Duty is. It is your typical first-person shooter game, shooting your way through a campaign or multiplayer match. It sounds a bit simple, but is more fun and hard than it sounds. First, I have to say, the campaign is a disappointment, story-wise. It has none of the brilliant storytelling that Call of Duty 4 did, in my opinion. In Modern Warfare 2, you can ... more
