I bought this printer as it was one of the cheaper models on the market(about £55), and being a student, that was quite appealing. However, the money you save initially is soon spent on buying expensive cartridges. The Canon's own make are very overpriced (about £20-£25), and few, if any, of the cheaper companies (e.g WHSmith's own make) produce cartridges for this model.
The printer itself is fairly slow and will only take one cartridge at a time, ... ...which can print black by using the other three colours, but this is very costly. A container is supplied with the printer so that you can store one type of cartridge whilst using another, however I found that after a few weeks the ink dries out and the cartridge must be replaced.
As a plus point, the printer is both easy to use and install. It's compact size means that it fits quite neatly on the desk, however it doesn't have a tray to collect your ...

Advantages: CHEAP, SMALL Disadvantages: ONLY GOOD FOR LIGHT USE
I bought the Canon because it was cheap (yep, let's be honest. here, I'm a penny-pincher!). I got it for £30 with my PC package (which was NOT cheap!), from Currys.
I am impressed with the fact that this printer is quite small, and so can go just about anywhere. It is also quite light, making it easy to move it around. It can be quite loud, but you get used to it after a while. It is quite slow if you are printing anything in fine print, and can ... ...the reviews I have read you can get a much better printer for just £30-40 more (the RRP on the Canon BJC-1000 is around £55).
I would reccomment that if you are going to use a printer a fair bit, spend a bit more and get a better printer. ...

...is the second of two canon printers that I have owned and on the whole I have found it to be good. I will admit that when I purchased it I was only attracted to it because of its price. It was very cheap when compared to the other brands that were available at the time (it cost about £60 from Dixons about two years ago). However after getting it home and setting it up it struck me that there were several other benefits to it.
Compared to a lot of ... ...to use it. Original Canon cartridges are very expensive to buy but it is possible to purchase clone cartridges much more cheaply, I have been buying recycled cartridges from Dixons which are still quite expensive but a lot cheaper than the Canon originals. Alternatively it is possible to refill the cartridges yourself using ink that can be purchased from a huge number of supplies. This is possible because unlike most modern printers the cartridges ...

I bought a Canon BJC-1000 printer when on a tight budget and was pleasantly surprised by its performance. The Canon BJC-1000 is a very good budget printer, offering a print quality which will be more than good enough for the average home user. It is easy to setup under Windows 98, simply a case of running the CD and I have never had a problem with paper jams or such like.
One of its major weaknesses is however, its speed. Printing a large document ... ...Another problem is that the Canon BJC-1000 is one of those printers which requires you to switch the ink cartridges around if you intend to print in colour or in black and white, there is no space provided for both cartridges at once. True, this is not too much of a problem and if you are not too worried about ink expenditure then the colour cartridge prints in black as well by mixing the colours. Overall though it is a very solidly designed printer ...

I recently bought the Canon BJC 1000 after I was attracted by its cheap price. I only needed a printer for my university course and the cheaper the better as far as I was concerned. At just fifty pounds I am extremely happy with my purchase, the print quality is excellent both in black and white and colour. The printing speed is a little slow, four or five pages a minute in black and white around two in colour but hey who is in a rush. If your strapped ...

Advantages: VERY REALIABLE Disadvantages: SLOW SPEED IN "OPTIMAL" QUALITY SETTING
Albeit I speak Spanish, I´ll write on English.
One word: FIDELITY. I´ve got brand new from 2001 and it´s slow but works excellent. Never papar jams, flips, flops or so. I lost the CD and found drivers on 32.186.415 sites on the Net.
No power, online/offline buttons con confuse.
And also, the program included tells me EVERYTHING that happens. I´m so used to it´s sound that i think´s music.

Advantages: Cheap or 'free' Disadvantages: Cost of replacement ink cartridges
This budget printer is cheap because it is usually supplied 'free' in a new PC package. Whilst the performace and print quality are OK, the problems become apparent when printing text. This printer has only one ink cartridge containing three colours(no black). To print black the printer uses a mixture of the three colours, resulting dark brown. As a result the cartridge runs out pretty quick and at around £25 is very costly. Bearing in mind the printer ...

Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: slow and not very good
If you are looking for a cheap printer which does its job with a little quality then this is it. I think this kind of printer is more suited to the average home user rather than a pressional company. Setup is very easy and it is very reliable. However, it may be a relatively decent printer the one main disadvatage is that it is as slow as a tortoise, it takes ages and of course these dyas time is important. Another problem is that it uses a lot of ...

...hard earned cash on the Canon BJC - 1000. It was the best choice I've ever made and to me, a £60 very well spent. I would seriously recommend this to anyone considering a new or seperate colour printer, Resolution is average and print speed is average for an inkjet but it is an alltogether good work horse. On the subject of ink replacement, it costs a mere £5 for the black cartridge and £15 for the tri-colour one - the drawback is that you have to ...

Advantages: Cheap, small Disadvantages: Print quality not laser standard
The price of this printer is the thing that immediately grabs the attention since you can get hold of one for not much more that fifty pounds. Don't let that put you off though, since the print quality in both colour and black (you need to change cartridges for this) is more than adequate for most purposes. "Black" print when using the colour cartridge tends to be a little blue in colour, although this is the case with many colour printers. The BJC-1000 ...
