Advantages: scans thick items eg books perfectly and creates editable text Disadvantages: is a bit lightweight
...be doing with it.
Canon is a well known brand and the scanner is fairly well made although perhaps a little on the light side, but it doesn’t feel particularly insubstantial or flimsy. It has stood up so far to the sometimes rough handling it receives. It is finished in Canons usual two tone grey and black. Its dimensions are width x depth x height: 10.2 x 18.7 x 3.3 inches (25.9 cm x 47.4 cm x 8.3 cm) and it weighs 5.6 lbs (2.6 kg). The maximum ... ...On the front are 7 buttons; 1 each to copy, scan, e-mail and 4 related to PDF files. One of the main reasons we wanted this particular model was its Z-Lid expansion top. This can lift up about 1 inch vertically so you can put in thick items such as text books and still get really good copies: You can even copy or scan thick items that do not lie flat on the scanner bed such as jewellery. You can choose colour or black and white for the scan result.

I've now scanned negative film, slides and colour prints, and I've tweaked the settings to get some superb results even from faded or scratched source materials. The ScanGear program includes a number or excellent filters like backlight correction and noise reduction. These are very useful as the processed image needs less work once you get it in your editor. For everyday scanning you ... ...more advanced features for when you do need them.
Image quality when using the platen is excellent. Previews are fast and a 1200dpi (max) scan only takes about 3-4 minutes for a 6x4 photo. It's not silent, but the noise is hardly noticeable! When scanning slides or negatives though, things are a bit hit and miss. You can fit 4 slides into the special adaptor and they fit in quite snugly. Sometimes when you insert the adaptor back into the scan cover ...

Advantages: Simple to use, Relatively Cheap, Looks good. Disadvantages: Takes a while to install, lid hinge is awkward.
Being a Graphic Art student, during my first year of university I found myself fighting the urge to buy a scanner. However, even mounting student debts and an overdraft extension could not put me off this bargain of a scanner! Other scanners on the market either seem to have too many needless features bumping the prices up, or they are painfully slow and bulky machines that would not sit comfortably next to a new Mac. I managed to get mine for around ... ...perfect for fast but accurate scans of images, without the fuss of useless applications that clog up your memory [it works best straight through Photoshop]. The added extras like the automatic white-balancing save time, and it crops whilst in preview mode. To add to the list of necessities, it is quite light, it easy to clean, and looks sleek in silver and black. It may take a while to install but it's not complicated and is worth the wait when you ...

Quick review of Canon CanoScan 4400F
A cheap, but good quality scanner. Getting 16bit output is a behind a little menu browsing though. Not all of the software, that runs on startup are needed. A great advantage, that it has a reasonable quality film scanning as well. After the lamp warm up, it´s FAST to scan with it. Good quality for the money. ...

Advantages: Fast and silent operation. Scans film and slides. Disadvantages: None I can think of.
I've been totally impressed with this scanner ever since I got it out of the box. It was plugged in and ready to go in seconds, and has delivered more than my expectations, with ultra sharp, colour perfect images. It's fast and silent in operation, and the software which comes with it is both simple to understand and easy to navigate. But the icing on the cake is its ability to scan both negatives in strips and single slides. It does this to perfection ...

Advantages: Easy to use, install and good quality Disadvantages: Wires.
In my opinion this scanner is quite becasue of it good quality scans, its easyness to install because of the easy instructions and its easyness to use becasue you are guided through what to do step by step. The quality of scans is really good is well because it comes through very clear on screen and again when you print out later so as there is no quality lost.
The bad point about it is that if your like me and you already have quite a few wires ...
