...that you notice about the Canon FB630Ui scanner are the striking blue colour of the lid, and the diminutive size. Set up is pretty straightforward provided you know how to install software - the manual is not as helpful as it should be. The scanner itself takes power via the USB port so there's less leads to trail. Scanning a document is reasonably quick, and the one touch button to launch the relevant software is very useful. The CanoScan FB 630U is an outstanding scanner if you are running Windows XP or lower. If you are running Windows Vista... dont waste your money on this scanner. Both Microsoft and Canon have told me that my CanoScan FB 630U is not compatible with Windows Vista and there are no plans to make this scanner compatible with Vista. It's a shame that we need to buy all new hardware and periferals when you get a computer with Windows Vista OS on it.

This scanner is of a good standard, it is not the best i have ever used but it is one that can produce good pieces of work in a suitable amount of time. It may not be the fastest piece of computer related hardware on the planet, indeed not in a office place, but it is good enough for me.
