Disadvantages Disadvantages USB 1.1 connection limits scan speed

Well here's your solution: This great Canon scanner scans good quality images and yet it is not expensive at all, and is suitable for both Windows and Mac users. You're probably wandering what the catch is, and you're right there is one. This scanner is relatively slow at scanning images into the computer - and that is all - that's the catch. Pathetic really, when you think about it. The preview scan time takes approximately 16 seconds so a normal scan, depending ... more

    Advantages Advantages Sooooo many features

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little slow to scan at the highest resolution

We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so you don't need a separate power supply which is very handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality scanning, No need for external power supply.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be a little slower using high resolution settings.

If you are looking for ease of use, then this is the one for you! One of the main advantages of this particular scanner is the slimmer design over others on the market. scan quality is outstanding and fairly quick. One of the other useful features is the software supplied by Cannon allowing you to do a variety of adjustments to your image BEFORE sending it to your PC. Another useful feature is the scanners ease of integration into everyday programmes such as e-mail. A major bonus of the cannon system over some of its rivals is that the system is entirely powered by the USB cable eliminating ... more

    Advantages Advantages image quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages software ,scan speed

I have owned the canoscan scanner for several years now. the scanner is small, compact and portable. On the front it has 3 quick buttons which usefull for speed.eg copy which will scan and print.the image quality is great and via the software provided you can select the image quality in DPI (dots per inch). It simply plugs directly into your pc or laptop using a usb cable and it has no need to be plugged in to the mains. The downsides are 1. The software is not great but you can use other compatable software.2 It can sometimes take quite long to scan especially when it is set to higher quality and ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to learn-as-you-go. Inexpensive. Slim design.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Operates at USB 1 speed - even so, it is not a slow scanner anyway

I purchased the LiDE 25 after reading excellent reports on other sites and in Computer Mags. (My previous scanner was an Agfa Snap-scan but it was not compatible with XP. This Canon scanner is so simple compared with the Agfa model) The scanner installed on my Windows XP Pro pc without a hitch and works perfectly. It certainly makes an excellent scanner for the first-time buyer as it is so simple to use. It comes with an very good software package, including Scan-gear and OmniPage OCR. The comprehensive on-line guides will soon turn a novice/nervous user into a happy/confident user. Quiet and ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages speed in scanning

I have Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 at home. I have used this scanner since 2006 and got no problem with this scanner. Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 can be installed easily and can be operated even for beginner. It doesn't need an adaptor. The power supply comes from one USB port. CanoScan LiDE 25 has a good design. It is very slim and light, so you can bring it easily wherever you go. This is not an expensive scanner in my country, but it has a good quality in scanning results. The scanning process is a weakness of this scanner. It needs maybe 2 minutes for one page scanning. Colour sensitivity of this ... more

Advantages Advantages Great value for money,Easy to use.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

This is the first scanner that i have brought, purchased through work from Misco for just over £40.It looks stylish and looks like a more expensive model. It has a resolution of 1200dpi by 2400dpi.It is so easy to use as it only has three buttons on it for copy, scan and email so you don't have to be a brain surgeon to use it.It has your usual usb port but no other slots. Also scans books very well too i was surprised when i tried it.Just make sure that you keep anything flat on it otherwise it's not as good. All in all i was more than happy with my purchase and would'nt hesitate in recommending to ... more
