Advantages: Looks good, slim, space saving, easy to use, good features, not noisy, good results Disadvantages: Not really found any major ones yet
I recently purchased a canon scanner for my husbands birthday. When trying to decide which to buy I took into consideration price , size, style and more than anything the specifications. We did also want something which was easy to get up and running and for a novice. Up to now we have not been dissappointed.
This scanner requires 64 MB of RAM but 128 MB is recommended. You need at least windows 98. We are using windows XP. Ideally you should have ... ...chain store.

Advantages: Fast, light, single cable, easy to use, does't take up too much room :D Disadvantages: Multicrop function could be better.
We purchased this scanner for our home last month. We needed a machine which would be useful for scanning a bucketful of old photographs which we wanted to preserve so needed something which would be cheap but fast and simple to operate. The Canoscan filled all of these criterea perfectly. It was very reasonably priced compared to other scanners of a similar spec. We were impressed at its light weight and easy to use style, and also its incredibly ... ...amount of bundled software and relieved at having an electrical appliance with only one cable for combined power and data transfer. Our only niggle when using it to scan multiple photographs at once is that the multicrop function does not successfully crop more than 3 or so images at a time. Other than this we couldn't be happier. It hasn't failed us yet. We would highly recommend buying this product for any home scanning user (probably not for professional ...

Advantages: No extra power supply required. Easy to use. Disadvantages: None found yet
We recently looked to buy a scanner, which would be used to make a photo into a digital image (for enhancments etc). We looked at a number of scanners available and found that there were a fair number available. We initially looked at the multi function printer/scanners, but were put off by the sheer lack of quality (plus there is more to go wrong).
This particular model however was perfect for our needs. It is lightweight and easy to use. The fact ...

Advantages: small size, one button operation, no power supply needed Disadvantages: some supplied software a bit dated
...machine. I'd seen an earlier Canon and was impressed by the size and functions offered so bought the latest model.
Very easy to set up, just run the cd and choose the full install. When it's all done restart machine and plug in the scanner.
Some of the software has since been removed as not really useful or duplicated what I already had but without doubt the best bit is the push button operation for copy, print, send by email or make a pdf.
The ... ...an old newspaper but as I don't do that too often not really an issue.
If you are an experienced user you may want to change some of the settings in the Canon Toolbox but otherwise just take it out of the box and 15 minutes later scan away! ...
