...accessories available to buy from Canon including
- rechargeable batteries
- battery charger
- "all weather" (waterproof) case - needed for underwater photos in conjunction with underwater mode
- memory cards.
Negatives
There are only two negatives I can think of: Firstly, it does not come with a camera case (although this seems to be standard for digital cameras). Secondly, we have been caught out by the battery running flat ...

...is, brilliant, with the typical Canon colour quality. The camera is clearly geared towards beginners and experienced photographers who want to take good, clean, quick shots. It has very good presets for lots of image modes (indoor, outdoor etc.), as well as macro modes and can even support long exposures up to 15 seconds. For the experienced photographer, just about anything worth tweaking can be tweaked, from ISO rating to exposure. Do not use this ...

Advantages: Good size, high quality image, range of features Disadvantages: No case
I brought this digital camera at Xmas last year, and it has not even started to lose it's appeal yet!!
It is a small, asthetically pleasing camera; metallic grey, that comfortably fits into any pocket, and also includes a wrist strap, to ensure it cannot be stolen or lost. It is extremely light
At 4.0 Mega Pixels, there is more than enough picture quality in my opinion to take any picture imaginable, although because of the lens quality and ...

...but i didn't think "oh canon are rubbish, look how easily that broke", i was amazed at how little amount of damage there was to it after what was a rather devastating tumble.
First of all the camera's looks, it really is tiny for the spec, it is very slim and minimalist. The buttons are well laid out and are labelled sensibly, making the camera easy to get to grips with.
In terms of ease of use, the camera is excellent. For the basic user ...

...It also comes with the Canon Zoombrowser software disc and cable which allows you to download your pictures from the camera straight onto your computer. Once the programme has been installed onto the computer - which is as simple as following the instructions on the screen, the photo's are downloaded automatically as soon as the camera and the computer are connected to each other. The software is very user friendly.

...have been using and selling canon cameras now for more than 6 years, and I have to say this is my favourite ixus model to date. One of the smallest cameras in its class, it can turn heads with its looks and its results.
Much improved on the older version, this model has 4 mega pixels, which is more than enough for A4 printing and smaller. A large LCD screen on this camera makes it much easier to compose and review your shots. This model comes ...

Advantages: Tiny, gorgeous, easy to use Disadvantages: None, except similar ones now exist with better specs
I just love using this camera. It's small enough to take everywhere, so no more 'I wish I had a camera right now' moments. The megapixels are more than enough to print out good A4 sized prints with a decent printer. The camera menus are inuitive, and you can personalise things like the start-up sounds and picure, the shutter noise, and what noise the camera makes when it's about to take a self-timed shot (when you connect the camera to the computer, ...

Advantages: Small and Sleek, yet amazing quality Disadvantages: NONE
Being at uni means that there are a lot of amazing and fun moments. Catching these moments to remember would be good. For this reason, i decided to buy the IXUS 40 along with a 512MB SD card from the net. This camera has every feature you can imagine but yet it is only slight bigger than a credit card area and less than 2cm in thickness.
This camera, is 4mp in resoultion and has 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. The time required to charge ...

...the shops and found the canon range to fulfill all of these requirements but to be over my budget I then asked about and found out that megapixels do make some difference to the quality of picture, but the lens is just as important - and that 4 megapixels is easily detailed enough to print off A4 sized photos.
So i downgraded my specifications and found the Ixus 40 to be the perfect camera for me, and the internet found the best price for me.

Advantages: Super clear pictures Disadvantages: None that i can think of
I bought this camera just before going away on holiday; I wanted my own set of memories of photos. I shopped around and ended up ordering the camera from Amazon as I found it to be the cheapest. I ordered this on a bank holiday weekend so delivery was delayed till Tuesday (I ordered on Thursday).Which kind of frustrated me as I was really eager to play around with this.
This is my second digital camera, and It a lots better than my last one! I found ...

Advantages: Excellent size, lens, macro mode and easy to use software Disadvantages: No case and flimsy battery cover
The main advantage of this camera is the size. You can carry it around all the time as it easily fits in your pocket.
This camera costs more than most 4mp cameras but you must bear in mind that the quality of this camera is far superior to others. The main difference is the quality of the lens and out of all of the 4mp cameras I have seen, this gives the best results.
The camera is very easy to use and uses SD memory cards which can be pruchased ...

Advantages: Fantastic picture quality Disadvantages: LCD easy to break - But read here for cheap repair advice!!!
I bought this camera as I wanted something small to take pictures of my children growing up and this camera is perfect. It fits intop my bag very easily (even with the case that I bought in addition to the camera).
The quality of the pictures is superb and I really can't find fault with anything. I paid about £200 from an online retailer (sorry I can't remember the name) but the price is coming down all the time as newer models come out.
However ...

Advantages: Small, easy to use, great picture quality Disadvantages: A delay on taking pictures with flash - flash very bright
I purchased this camera having done extensive research on which was the 'best buy' and I have not been disappointed.
It's small and compact so easy to take out and about when travelling or closer to home. It's hard wearing and seems to withstand being knocked around a bit (I've broken a number of cameras by dropping but this one appears indestructable so far!).
It has great options for images including vivid (makes the colours look brighter), ...

Advantages: small, easy to use, good resolution Disadvantages: flash can still be improved, screen can get scratched easily.
I previously had a canon V2 which was fatastic but resolution was the only downpoint. The canon ixus 40 has all the plus points of of the V2 but with a great resolution. Cameras these days have much higher resolutions, but to be honest your never going to visibly see the difference in quality unless your printing poster size images. This camera is easy to use with a much improved zoom and flash over previous models. It is small and compact and so ...
