Advantages: smart, small and good quality Disadvantages: flash very limited
...photographer (currently using a £3000 Canon 1D Mk 2 Digital SLR for work), maybe I come at this subject a different way to most people. Of course, 'Joe Public' is looking for something that is great, cheap and looks good - largely. If it takes decent pics and they can be printed out on the home or office inkjet, that will be fine. Or am I rather belittling 'Joe P' ?? Just as technology has come on a pace, so has the average consumer's expectations. ... ...foolproof. But generally speak, the Canon cameras are pretty accurate, but can be fooled, so dont be too disheartened if you get a few pictures not quite up to what you'd hoped. There is no such thing as THE PERFECT CAMERA. If there was - we'd all be going out to buy one.
But to sum up without boring you all with jargon and too much tech-speak. The Canon Ixus 430 (or its predecessor the 400) is small in your hand and small on your wallet. Can be ...

Advantages: Looks smart & takes excellent pictures Disadvantages: Zoom & light adjustment in video mode
I came to China thinking that, as it's China, it would be better to buy a camera here than buy one back home and bring it with me. I went to the cheapest electronics store area in Shanghai and bought this camera for the equivalent of £225. Not an amazing deal, as you can get exactly the same thing at Comet online for £219.99 or at Simply Computers online for £220. However, I got a free mini tripod, a snazzy case and a 128Mb compactflash card thrown ... ...you probably won't get these free gifts thrown in, but you can still get the camera for quite a decent price at these online stores.
After having been less than happy with my old camera (see other review), I was not exactly upset when I dropped it in the sea and it was rendered useless. With this little beauty on the other hand, I'm constantly worried that something's going to happen to it as I love it. It is absolutely wonderful. The pictures it ...

Advantages: Compact quality feel and easy to use Disadvantages: short proprietary battery life, lack of carry case
This is my first digital camera after having recommended and purchased cameras for other people!
I was working to a limited budget, about to go on vacation and needed to make a decision in a hurry. I previously recommended and purchased Nikon and Sony cameras for other people simply because they had the right products at the right price at the time and I hadn't come across the Ixus range.
This camera was recommended to me by an I.T. professional ... ...results and had sold the product to a wide range of users.
The advice I received was spot on, the camera was ideal for my usage being compact enough to carry on vacation but not lacking the vital components of a proper zoom lens (3x) and good (4meg) resolution.
My wife was able to use the camera straight out of the box which I took as a good guide as to its user friendliness as she is not very good with gadgets and we both immediately managed to ...

IXUS digital the Canon 430 the third Camera of the "little" Canon generation is here . The dimensions and the reception quality make also this Digi - Camera again to an all around great product. A Digitalzoom rounds off the Drei. The handling of the Camera is simple and just as the easy is the software of Canon. Advantages: This is great value for money Disadvantages: It costs over £200
This camera is excellent for family use. With 4 megapixel (4 million pixels a inch) you can print onto an A4 piece of paper and still get a good quality images.
The camera will take compact flash memory, if you havent got any digital memory dont worry it usually comes with 32 MB.
The camera will also allow you to take videos. The camera has a built in microphone to capture sound. The video length depends on how much memory you have. The bigger ... ...I bought an extra battery and a 128 MB compact flash card. This has suited me for about 5 months and I do not regret purchasing this camera.
Before I went on holiday I bought another memory card (256MB). With the ability to take more photographs than before I was entirely happy.
When I got home I used the PC kit that was included and downloaded the pictures onto my laptop. ...

I bought my IXUS 430 3 months ago and have been very impressed with it. It is very easy to use (I admit to not having even read most of the instruction book!) and takes brilliant pictures. Recently I took it to New York and all the views from the top of the Empire State Building came out in terrific quality. Also doing close ups of still life etc, the quality is brilliant and even an amateur like myself has produced some pretty amazing photos.
Looks-wise ...

I think this digi -cam is great. It has x4 intergrated zoom and at 5 mega pixels it takes great detail pictures. It can also survive pretty big bashes. I was standing on-top of my car to get a better veiw of a sunset when i dropped it from onto a concrete pavement and nothing happened. Not even a scratch! I would reccomend this camera to someone who is goes on holiday quite and wants to take great quality pictures but don't want to use up alot of ...

Advantages: Great pictures, very easy to use point and click, yet can be made more advanced if wished! Disadvantages: There is no battery indicator!
Having had 5 digital cameras (yes 5, drinking and owning a camera does not go together!) I have come realise how good a camera is (I and you hope). In short this camera is "good!" It takes very clear pictures in all lights and is extremely simple to use. However for more advanced users or people who just wish to play around with the settings (much like myself) a separate camera function can be selected allowing pretty much everything to be changed. ... ...cameras this comes with a small memory card which I upgraded to 512mb, although quite an expensive investment I personally feel is defiantly justified and necessary! Lastly and what I find astounding about this camera is there is no battery indicator (until the dying seconds), which for this price I think is ridiculous. Overall though a great buy. ...
