Advantages: Small, easy to use Disadvantages: There is no warning about battery life
...my very own digital camera. Canon Ixus 50.
Out of all the camera's I've had or used this has got to be my favourite! (My dad is jealous because my camera is smaller than his is and he wants to swap!) It is really easy to use and it is just a nice size to carry around. Weight 130g. Size (H)53, (W)86, (D)20.7mm. It is less than half the size of my dad's camera.
When my parents bought the camera (from Comet) it was on offer. It came with a case, ...

Advantages: Great View, Effect, Image Adjustement, Quality Disadvantages: Can be blurry, SOMETIMES
Well, I finally decided to purchase a digital camera, and didn't know where to start...
I eventually found myself searching Canan's product's and saw the new Digital IXUS advertised in a magazine with a good review.
The whole IXUS range had very good reviews, however i had to decide which one i could afford/need. I made my decision to get the 5 mega pixel - the IXUS 50.
I purchased this for a very reasonable price after searching through this site ...

Advantages: Compact, sleek, easy to use, excellent picture quality, good video quality Disadvantages: Buttons can be a little small, screen on rear could be larger
I bought this camera when it was new over 2 years ago now. I is still as reliable as when first bought. Picture quality is excellent and ease of use superb. This is one of the best digital compact cameras i have used an although was over £200 when new can be bought at a fraction of the cost now. Screen on rear is adequate size but the newer version (Ixus 60 and above) have all the same features but a larger screen. If you are looking for a camera ...

Advantages: Slim, small and sleak. Overall excellent picture quality. Disadvantages: Not many, except possibly 'whiting' of blue sky
Intially going for the cybershot series from Sony, this range for its sleak and compact beauty stood out a mile. Given its 5m pixel, I bought 1GB memory and to date it gives excellent results. Whether, it is optical zoom, or darker conditions the lens is brilliant reproducing excellent colours. However, be careful on distance and flash as here it may need a bit of practice. Also, settings for glorious sunny days need to be adjusted since you often ...

Advantages: Small, lightweight, feature packed camera Disadvantages: no case provided (not really an issue though)
I purchased this camera to replace my somewhat bulky nikon effort.
I wanted to have a good range of features but most importantly I wanted a camera that was small enough to fit in my pocket. I like going to watch football matches (come on Oxford!) and also I go out to pubs and bars a lot and I wanted a camera I could easily take with me to these events. I have a giant photoboard in my computer room and I like to keep adding to it, so I like my ...

Advantages: Compact, Lightweight, Easy to use Disadvantages: None come to mind
The Canon Digital IXUS 50 is ultra compact and exactly what you would expect from the IXUS series. Its a neatly designed digital camera and the metal housing shows this quality.
The Canon Digital IXUS 50 is a great design which Canon have been using for many years. The good things about the camera are the compact size and design and, not the least important, Canon manages to keep the price down at the same time.
The size of the camera lets you ...

Snap happy! Review ofCanon Digital IXUS 50by

Advantages: Simple and easy to use. Disadvantages: Too shiny so it gets covered in fingerprints!
I am extremely happy with this camera. I have had it for about a month and have had nothing but fun, good photos and excellent quality with it. Not only does this camera look BEAUTIFUL, sleek and sexy, but it takes high quality images too.
The camera is a 5mega pixel camera with 3x optical zoom which is more than enough for my needs. It offers both still images and video recording features. It also offers 9 different preset picture modes which ...

...side my Fuji s9500. The Canon was purchased for ocassions where the Fuji was just too bulky to carry around.
I was very pleasantly suprised by the quality of image that the small canon could produce, a lot of the pictures even came out better than the more expensive Fuji.
Colours from the Canon are vivd and well defined with very little bluring on daytime shots.
The camera does somewhat struggle with night time shots due to the limited ISO speed ...

Advantages: Stylish, small, good battery life, easy to use, excellent functionality Disadvantages: Price (depending on where you get it from!), no case or spare battery included
I've had this camera for around 10 months and its been brilliant. The pictures are excellent and its really easy to use. I've connected it to my laptop and WinXP picked it up no probs without having to install additional software.
The screen is a good size, not to small and not to big (which would impact the battery life), its got a viewfinder incase of any probs with the lcd screen and takes excellent pics when in night mode.
Its a shame it didnt ...

Advantages: Great picture quality, vivid colours, compact size Disadvantages: Unreliable - zoom lens has tendancy to fail
Initial thoughts are that this is a fab little camera. Very compact and easy to use.
Not much manual control over exposure settings, but generally these are not needed as it effortlessly produces great quality photos with vivid colours and sharp focus.
The movie mode is also excellent with great quality sound and the option to record high resolution clips for up to 30 seconds.
There is only one drawback, but unfortunately it is a major one. ...

Advantages: Excellent quality lens, comfortable to use Disadvantages: Very few!
After using a Canon AE-1 for many years, I finally decided to give a light-weight digital a try... and it is excellent!
The metal body gives it a very comfortable weight and feel or reliability. It's great as an automatic compact, but also has enough manual features and tinkering tools built in to please the more advanced user.
The buttons are very intuitive to use, and Canon have kept their high standard with the lens quality.
The battery charges ...

Advantages: compact Disadvantages: battery life not that long
I have had much success with this camera. A good, reliable, easy to use camera, great for snapshots but chews through battery if you are heavy on the zoom. Results have been pretty good all in all and it allows for the usual errors with red eye etc. I found that the screen on the back is a little smaller than ideal but not bad. The photo options have been great with the features being very easy to view. Probably a bit complex for a beginner but a ...

Advantages: Clear and precise magnification on zoom function. Disadvantages: Blurred image is a common problem if there is movement in the frame.
The zoom function on this camera is surprisingly good, with minute detail being magnified a great deal. The magnifications are clear and defined and the button to activate the zoom is a bit like PS2 analogue sticks in-so-far as ease of use is concerned.
It is one of the smaller cameras on the market but it is not so small as to make its size a hinderence to usage.
Unfortunately, when taking a photo of a scene where there is activity, it sometimes ...
