...stood out. This was the Canon Digital Ixus 750. Amazingly enough, it was the same camera my friend Peter used on our recent holiday to Zakopane, so obviously good news travels fast.
Brief description of the Camera and Its features……
The Canon Ixus 750 is a lovely design, shiny silver exterior which houses precision optics and advanced features that deliver better higher quality pictures that opposed to any camera I have ever personally seen.
It ... ...honestly.
If Connected to a Canon SELPHY CP Series printer you can also print ID photos and movie stills, I haven't personally got this printer, but never the less it is another feature worth thinking about. The software included with my purchase of this camera to allow me to edit, organise and print my photos are Canon's ZoomBrowser EX, accessible for Windows 98 onwards, and ImageBrowser for Macintosh. Canon Image Gateway provides 100MB of web ...

Advantages: Easy to use, sleek design, great pictures! Disadvantages: Not cheap.
...______Cosmetic Appearance______
The Canon Ixus 750 has a sleek metal casing available in both silver and champagne (slightly gold, and in my opinion the sexier of the two!) colours. The casing is very solid and will withstand a beating, though scratches do show quite easily. The curve on the left hand side is a trademark of the "Canon style". The shutter and zoom buttons are conveniently located on the top right of the camera which in my opinion ... ...Ixus 400, 430 and 500). Canon had a winning design and has stuck with it, which makes the camera not only up-to-date, but a tried and tested formula. The glass elements give superbly sharp results. It's not all about megapixels as some people would have you believe. You could have a 20 megapixel camera with a rubbish lens and get poor photos, or a 2 megapixel with a great lens and have shockingly good results (don't be fooled by the 'Leica' and 'Carl ...

Advantages: High resolution; 3x optical zoom; fast, reliable operation Disadvantages: some blurring in low light conditions
...for composing and reviewing photos, canon has squeezed in a small optical viewfinder above it to give the option of conserving the life of the lithium ion battery.
in truth, this probably woudlnt be needed, with a single battery charge lasting a week of periodic use. included in the box is a 32mb sd memory card that will store 12 full quality shots, so budget for additional memory too.

this was partly down to the smooth surface of the camera making it difficult to hold rock steady during the slower shutter speed needed to capture sufficient light under such conditions. opt for flash and theres no problem.

Advantages: Ease of use. Size. Lightweight. Disadvantages: For beginners. 32MB card.
Before you buy this camera, consider that you will have to account for the cost of a bigger SD card in your budget, the supplied 32MB lacking severely in capacity. In the highest resolution (3072 x 2304 pixels) and quality (Superfine mode - utilisting all 7.1 megapixels - which is a lot), a photo averages at about 2.5 MB in size when saved in the JPEG format.
The camera is strong ergonomically and its large 2.5" LCD screen allows easy reviewing ... ...the screen is that its actual quality isn't that great, it can be hard to spot if your image is out of focus without connecting the camera to the PC.
There are many ways to take a picture - 15 different presets I believe - which may seem confusing to the complete novice, however the camera is perfectly suited to a 'point and shoot' minded individual. Equally, the novice would find it easy to change these presets, and it is this ease of use that ...

Advantages: 3.0" Screen, Picture quality, ISO1600 mode, price, design Disadvantages: Small memory card, no grip
...another great feature of this Canon ixus 750 camera.
Disadvantages:
The tiny memory card that is included with the camera. I was very dissapointed to find only a 32mb SD card when a picture on this 7.1 megapixal camera at the best quality is over 3mb! A bigger card is therefore a must if you want to make some decent pictures. So far, I haven't found any other dissadvantages worth mentioning. one very small disadvantage is the fact that there is ... ...of hour hands. But I think anyone who has just spent 200+ on a camera will ensure this never happens :-). If you use the wrist strap this shouldn't be a big problem
Overall I believe this is one of the best camera's in this segment. The camera has pleasantly surprised me in almost every aspect and a part from a few small disadvantages I believe it is worth every penny (or dollar :-) ...

32MB SD memory card

I would say that as with the other Ixus range, this camera ... ...on the SD memory card. Canon do provide you with a 32MB SD card but this is no where near enough for this camera as each picture can be as large as 2-3MB. Advantages: photo quality , battery life Disadvantages: no shake cancelling
I bought my Ixus in February for a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Since then it has served me well and has been used several times. The layout is good and the menus with a little practice are easy to navigate. I like the fact that you can switch from one mode to another with just a flick of a switch. For example I was taking pictures around a pool full of dolphins. For general pictures I was using the fully auto mode when the dolphins came ... ...amazed that the Ixus was able to capture shots of the dolphins actually leaping from the water. something that my old Minolta Dimage X would have failed miserably on. There are several other automatic photo options available . These include night portrait , snow , beach , fireworks and foliage. One other mode I liked was the photo stitch assist. This enables you to make panoramic pictures which you would find hard to make without this feature. For ...

Advantages: Easy to use, great looking, excellent screen, viewfinder. Disadvantages: None
I needed a replacement for my fuji digital camera and the IXUS seemed to fit the bill exactly. I was a bit put off by the price at first but obtained one from the Cannon outlet store on ebay at about £100 cheaper than the RRP. Having used the camera for several months now I can say that even at the recommended price it would have been good value. Pictures are first class, with much more detail than my old fuji. There is enough manual control for ... ...manual settings. However for a point and shoot camera there are more than enough options. The controls are well set out and the screen is a delight. Many digitals now have done away with a viewfinder, however this was a must have feature for me and is a welcome inclusion. I am especially impressed with the quality of pictures taken on the macro setting, something that I have found disapointing on other models. The final deciding factor should always ...

This camera has been fantastic for me to use. I got it for christmas and have been snap-happy ever since! It is necessary to buy a larger memory card, but that is the case with most digital cameras. It is ideal for nights out or days at home with the family. The software which comes with it to download onto your computer is also simple to use, although I have had a bit of trouble transferring the actual photos to the computer, this could be to do with a virus on my computer rather than a problem with the camera though.
All in all, I would recommend ...

Quick review of Canon Digital IXUS 750
I purchased a new IXUS-750 and little over a year later the Zoom Lens
broke down. As the camera was out of warranty (12 months) Canon UK
would not pay for replacing the lens but referred me to their dealers who
offered to help for a hundred to two hundred pounds. One can buy a brand new camera for that sum. I have always had great respect for Canon cameras but I was badly let down this time. However, Canon USA
offer to replace the camera with a brand new one for only $150.00 which
is not bad if you live in the US. ...

Advantages: Superb picture quality, lots of functions, great battery life Disadvantages: Very easily dented or scratched.
A superb camera with a host of facilities. It gives very natural colours under a variety of lighting conditions and even the video function looks sharp on playback. Easy to navigate around the settings once you know where they are (same for all cameras) but performance is a bit disappointing on the macro function, maybe I need to spend more time on it but close up focussing is difficult. Buy a 1 Gigabyte card from EBay and put the resolution up, you won't be disappointed. The lens gives good sharp photographs even in relatively low light conditions and the camera 'shutter' speed seems to react well to the low light and absence of flash particularly in domestic lighting.
The icons displayed when using video function take a little getting used to.
The finish looks superb but put ...

Have always used Sony Cameras in the past, so i can only compare to a Sony. Not as pretty to look at as most Sonys and definitely not as user friendly. But it more than makes up for it in the picture quality department. 7mp is heaps, and allows for a greater zoom using the digital zoom without fear of too much picture comprimise. Battery also seems to last forever. The Instruction manual is satisfactory. Good quality, well built camera. I would recommend ...

I am no technical expert but I bought an Ixus camera a month ago and I can say that I am very happy with it. It is really sleek and easy to use. A great piece of engineering it is compact but powerful. The zoom lens and the flash to me are the main pluses compared to my old camera.
