...use. I already have a canon powershots3 IS and have been really pleased with it. However it's not always convenient to carry around as its quite big and bulky. Having read lots of reviews I decided I really liked the look of the canon Ixus 75. Apart from the glowing reviews I read I was attracted by the large LCD screen and the wealth of functions this camera has. Although it is basically a point and shot camera the Ixus 75 has a lot more to offer! ... ...charger, which is a bonus. Canon say you should be able to take about 210 shots before the battery will need to be recharged. I must have taken over a hundred shots and the battery is still fine.
The camera is supplied with a 32 MB( enough for about 18 shots), SD card, which is more generous than some. I bought a 2GB card when I purchased the camera. I really think Canon could supply a larger SD card, as it would not add much to their costs!

...from a camera in the Canon Ixus range, the features are quite extensive. There is a three-position slider switch to select between video mode, scene mode and program auto on the main panel. There are 10 scene programs in scene mode. The video mode offers a satisfactory maximum 640 x 480 resolution at 30fps, with mono audio. ...simple "point and shoot" device, Canon have introduced a clever dial control. This little feature allows you to instantly access all the most useful features of the camera, without having to navigate your way through 50 million menu options. I will admit that I have yet to use the majority of the main advanced features of the camera. There are only two criticisms I have of this camera. 1st is that it does seem to be a little heavy on battery usage, but then in does do a lot of work for you in terms of making sure you get the best quality shot. A good piece of advice would be to make sure you carry a spare battery supply. 2nd is that in general, the flash is more than adequate, but I have found that in particularly dark settings, the flash does ...

Advantages: Quality Shots, Build Quality, Ease of use. Disadvantages: None.
The Canon Digital IXUS 75 is a 7.1 megapixel pocket sized digital camera, as soon as i recieved this camera i was very impressed with the build quality, it feels very solid to handle and looks like an expensive camera. The 3inch LCD screen is superb although there is no viewfinder this is not a problem for most people. Battery life is excellent, i have taken 200-250 shots on a 1hr charge. The canon range are great and this is one of the best i have used for the price. The big screen is grreat and is really clear so don't worry about the sunlight onit. The auto focus makes it so much better than other camera like it. Also the canon sotware is amazing all you have to do is usb your camera into the computer and the press one button on the back and the computer will look at your camera and only upload pics that havn't been uploaded and ...

Advantages: Small/ light, great screen Disadvantages: Sometimes slow to focus
I found this camera to be a great buy, though I don't think I've yet used it to its full potential. I bought the Ixus 75 mainly as a camera to take underwater - lightweight and simple to use, and with a housing available (which my previous compact did not have).
One of the best features is the LCD screen - one of the largest available, at 3.0", still usable in bright sunlight and with good screen resolution. One hassle is the lack of optical viewfinder ... ...rarely use this underwater, but on land I like the option! The small size of the camera means there simply isn't room for a viewfinder as well, the screen takes up the entire height of the camera's back.
And that's actually one of the great advantages of the camera - it really is tiny. It actually measures up as similar to my previous compact - but just seems that much more compact.
There's a range of modes available - some of them rather bizarre, ...

Advantages: Easy to use once you get the hang of it, good quality Disadvantages: A little heavy and chunky for those who like lightweight, tiny technology
I have had this camera for 6 months and it hasn't let me down. The additional features have made taking photographs more interesting; for example the colour accent feature which highlights certain colours in a shot (fun for those amateur photographers who want to be more creative with their everyday snapshots!)

Moreover, the video feature works well, filming sharp videos with clear sound.
However, I didn't give it 5 stars as mine ended up with a little smudge on the screen within the first few weeks, I'm not sure how, but nevertheless it doesn't affect the pictures and you can only see it when the screen is dark. ...

Advantages: Small size , great photos and really easy to use. Disadvantages: maybe could do with a brighter flash
Firstly let me say that I'm no camera expert and certainly don't take anything like professional photos and so my opinions are aimed at those of you who are happy to take snaps at family occasions and holidays. I bought this camera just prior to our recent holiday and wanted something small and compact that would take decent photos. This camera really does fit the bill. Small enough to slip into your jeans pocket without you even noticing it which ... ...just when that photo opportunity arises. This was one of the main reasons for buying , I've lost count of the number of times I've wished I had my previous cameras but hadn't bothered to take it with me as it was a pain to carry round. The battery life has been excellent , easily lasting all day when snapping away and this usually included using it for video shots as well. Never even came close to running out of power. It's also pretty quick to charge ...

Quick review of Canon Digital IXUS 75
I have had this camera since Christmas 2007 and I have to say that I am still very pleased with it.
The most significant feature of any camera for me is the quality of the pictures it takes and with the Ixus 75 they are fantastic. I have used this camera in various parts of the world from snowy mountains to beaches and it has never let me down.
Another important factor with this camera is that it is easy and quick to use and therefore perfect for catching those spontaneous shots.
The battery lasts for ages but once it shows that there is little power left it will not last for long be warned. ...

Advantages: Design, Extra Features, Colour Quality Disadvantages: Zoom, Scratches Easily
I bought the Canon IXUS 75 last year before going off to start my degree course. As an art student, it was most important to have a camera that would meet my requirements for quick digital photography to use for research and experimentation. But, secondly, it had to be a great point-and-shoot camera for my nights out on the town; freshers week and beyond. Needless to say it did actually survive the first month of uni, and I was astounded at the quality ... ...The touch-sensitive key pad shows Canon are keeping up to date with new technology found in ipods and mobile phones, and the face-detecting application creates excellent portraits. If it were to be improved, the optical zoom could be a touch better, as it poorly focuses on something further than 4 metres in my experience. The design of the camera appealed to me as it was a substantial size [I am put off by ever-decreasing sizes of digital cameras] ...

Advantages: Very Compact, Good Colour Reproduction, Sharp images, Big 3" LCD Disadvantages: Lack of Raw, High Nosie at ISO 1600, no LCD screen protector
Updated 3rd April
Welcome to my review of the Ixus 75 Digital Camera by Canon.
As with all my reviews the Disadvantages come first.
This camera like all of canons more recent compact camera including the G7 lack a RAW file format. For many consumers this is not a issue as you do not need every spec of data, but for some more professional photographers they may want a little more. I find that with it been a 7 Megapixal camera that i can use the ... ...excellent.
The noise at higher ISO levels (grainy texture/grayish dots) is high, but then again it is on nearly every camera. Personally i find the images are still useful as most monitors scale an image down anyway to fit it on the screen. Whilst they may not be suitable for larger A4 for bigger prints it is not often ISO 1600 will be used.
There is no plastic cover for the LCD screen, whilst it does seem strong i would prefer addtional protection.
