...costume of stainless steel, the Canon Ixus ii is the epitome of chic. Far from being ostentatious, however, the Ixus hides its wealth of features underneath a relatively simple exterior. On the front of the camera can be found a small opening for the optical viewfinder, and the most narrow of flash units. Turn the Ixus round, and the 1.5" LCD screen and plenty of buttons are set against the lustrous background. It fits easily into your pocket, being ... ...make such a mini machine, Canon have had to make some changes to their usual models. The Ixus II is their first digital camera to take the SD (secure digital) memory cards which are about the size of a stamp. It comes supplied with a 16mb card, which unfortunately does not get you very far. To get real storage I bought a 128mb SD card from ebuyer.com. This cost me about £30 and has freed me from the fetters of limited memory.
As we all know, basing ...

Advantages: Very small, stylish, around £100 Disadvantages: no attatchments
The page for this review is wrong the links to buy this camera are for the digital version, this review is for the APS version (Advanced Photo System) as listed. APS is a development of 35mm photography, it allows you to manipulate the films you have in your camera more than you would be able to in a conventional camera. For instance you have a film of 36 shots and you are up to no.25 and the light conditions change, say up to now most of the photographs ... ...is suitable for this kind of photography, in terms of ISO rating. There are 11 shots left on the film and you want to take some interior shots, a historic building interior, inside a cathedral, or just indoors at home the film you have been using will probably be too fast and you will have to change to a suitable film with the correct ISO for interior and darker shots ie not daylight. There is a problem you either just use up your film and compromise ...

Advantages: Cheap SD memory cards, good for frequent use Disadvantages: Old now, lack features, need more than one battery
I have used this camera for around two years now, and taken it to many places around the world. This proves its durability and reliability, which makes it excellent for harsh conditions (but not waterproof!). It is quick to start up, although not instant, but you can still have enough time to capture those moments. Its fairly light and small so I don't mind carrying it in my hand or just putting it in my jeans pockets.
I did buy some spare SD memory ... ...batteries. As I take a lot of photos on the highest quality settings and the spare batteries keep the camera running and me happy for a whole day guaranteed.
It does lack some features that other brands has, as I also had the chance to use Sony's T- series cameras on many trips and I would think shame my Cannon doesn't have this feature. But for normal photos this camera is ok. I also printed a lot of the photos take with this camera, and maximum ...

Advantages: Neat and small. Good quality photos. Disadvantages: Battery life deterioration
I have a Canon Digital IXUS II which is now about 3 years old, and I love it. Although it has had some problems, it is still working and i have never had to get it fixed. It's perfect for taking out and about, as the tiny size means it can slip into your pocket. Photo quality is very good, and it takes SD cards, so you can put them into any multi-card reader, or plug the camera straight into your computer to download pictures. I find it best to avoid ... ...for the best pictures. Then depending on the size of the card you buy, the more pictures you can take. I bought 2 cheap 128MB cards of the internet because you can't fit many on the 16MB one they provide you with. Unfortunately, being a small camera, it has a small case, with no pockets for spare cards, but this is a minor inconvenience. The real trouble I have had lately is with the battery. Obviously, like any lithium battery, when it gets too ...

Advantages: Slick, Powerful, Sophisticated Disadvantages: A bit heavy, in my humble opinion
...only be copied from the canon site. If you want the specifications, this is a review, not a spec list. Please get that straight :)
Right, the IXUS II camera is a powerful equipment both for the experience and inexperienced users. I have been a keen photographer for the past few years, and had my fair share of using the SLR manual cameras for a while. IXUS II comes with all those manual functions you seek in an SLR camera. What's even better, unlike ... ...functions. Overall I would rate this 8/10. The only thing it lacks probably is the light weightness of it. It can be quite heavy since it's made of metal instead of plastic, but then again, it means the camera is DURABLE! :)
Kudos, Canon for yet another fantastic production. ...

Advantages: small, sexy and full of usefull features Disadvantages: a little bit expensive and not the greatest zoom
I am not a professional photogropher but far from it. I have always wanted a small camera which i could carry with me at all times. The main reason that i chose the cannen ixus was due to its size. It will comfortably fit in any pocket and wont be noticed due to its light weight. It has an aluminium body which gives the feeling of durability. I was unfortunate enough to have droped it onto the floor and to my surprise there was no damage made to ... ...surprisingly all usefull. I have been in the possition where i buy somthing because the sales person speaks of many features but when you get home and start using the product you dont use any of the features. It has a zoom lense which is a bit of a gimic as it only magnifies by X2 but the camera is etremely small so it is not possible to fit a arge zoom lense. The camera is a little bit expensive at just under £200 but it money well spent! I highly ...

If you read my opinion on the Ixus, you will know how I ended up with an Ixus II. The IxusII is still very sexy and slightly more polished with the Robocop or Terminator finish of the original Ixus. The body is now better made and the features are far easier to access. Picture quality is good without being outstanding, which is typical of many compact cameras. As a regular SLR user I find the Ixus II useful for family occasions where I don’t want ...

Advantages: Size, sturdy, looks like a digital camera, really high resolution pictures Disadvantages: isn't a digital camera, flash isn't as bright as other cameras
I owned this camera through sixth form and first year university. The advantage with an APS is that the films are really easy to change. Really long battery life (about 18 months for me), but it doesn't take universal AA batteries. Photos are such high resolution that when scanned into a computer they are better than most digital photos even today. However, the flash isn't great so taking photos in dark rooms (nightclubs etc) can be tricky. It has ... ...tricky to use and not really that useful. Every feature of the camera is fully explained in the manual and there is a full guarantee with attentive customer support from Canon. Three shapes of photo available also; normal, APS high definition and panoramic. The panoramic ones come out really well. ...

Advantages: Excellent Zoom Disadvantages: Noisy (but in a cute way)
I cannot believe how great the on screen zoom is on this camera!! A photo we took in a supermarket (dont ask) could be zoomed in so much on the screen that you could see faces of people you didnt even know were there!
I also like the sound feature where you can record snippets of sound (eg frog croaking).
I own three other digital cameras and I say this on is by far the best so far (Sony / Olympus / Sanyo are the others).
Also - the price makes ... ...digital cameras then this one will really impress, and if you already have some experience you will be over the moon with this one. I sincerely recommend taking a look - i am sure you will buy one!

I bought this very small and smart camera a few months ago, and it is one of the best gadgets I own! I could not believe the size of it, even in the top quality leather case you receive in the pack. It has more features than you could shake a stick at, and it also makes very solid and nice sounds. It kicks into action by pressing a small button on the reverse, and the lens smoothly slides out. It is reminiscent of a James Bond movie, very sophisticated! ...

I have three Canon cameras, and two are these little ones that look like they're built from solid stainless steel and should be really tough. They're not! Advantages: Silver, strong case, high quality photo's Disadvantages: Casing tarnish's easily with finger prints
This stylish compact camera is ideal for new and experienced photographers alike. With a 3.2 megapixel resolution and many manual features it is perfect for users of all abilities and demands. I took this camera on my gap year to Africa. It took fantastic photos of the amazing game, even at surprising distances. Often my photos were more successful than those taken with more sophisticated cameras.
It coped wonderfully with being chucked around in a ruck sack, white water rafting and the dust which seemed to be everywhere.
It is small and extremley useful as it is so often uneccessary and irritating to carry around a big camera. This ...
