This camera can also take short films (with sound!). These are of a reasonable quality, with the highest resolution being 320x240, but certainly not great!

Software
=======
Canon provides a variety of software with this camera. There's PhotoRecord which allows you to create photo albums. PhotoStitch allows you to stitch those photos you took in stitch assist together. All you have to do is load the photos in order, and the software will do the rest automatically! A very ingenious innovation. There is also ZoomBrowserEx which allows you to download, browse and print your photos. There is ...

Advantages: Small, chic, light Disadvantages: No optical zoom
I've owned my Ixus for about a month now, and have to say I have been impressed by it. I'm not a photography professional by any stretch of the imagination, so this review is based on my own, personal opinion.
Appearance
The camera comes immaculately presented in a branded box. The camera itself is stunning. It has a metal body with a brushed finish that won’t get marked easily. The front does not have (too) many logos plastered all over it, as ... ...nice, with a reasonable sized screen and good quality buttons. This is let down slightly by a plastic toggle switch that feels a little on the cheap side. On the whole, it is stunning and pictures don’t do it justice - you have to see it with your eyes to really get an idea of how desirable it is. Of course, it is available in different colours, some of which are limited edition and look even better than the standard silver.

Advantages: Decent price Disadvantages: Not too many
...a decent digital camera, the Canon Digital Ixus 400 is offered for sale at Amazon at less than £250 according to Google, although when you click the link, the Amazon says disappointingly, “This item is not in stock or has been discontinued”, although it goes on to offer new and used versions at just £220. I daresay that all that will soon change, however. Kelkoo suggests prices in excess of 300 notes, unfortunately. Best advice is to shop around.

It also offers the neat touch of being able to shoot short videos with sound, although if you really want such things then you’d be better getting a proper DV camera. Being jack of all trades can often mean you’re master of none, but ...

Advantages: Small, Good looking, affordable, handy Disadvantages: Digital zoom is no good, and Supplied CF is too small
I must start off by empahisising that this is NOT the best digital camera on the market. For the best quality of picture is does not even come close. Where this camera does win is on its size, convenience and durability.
I bought mine a little over a month ago and have already taken over 1000 pictures, I have taken more pictures of my children in the last month than the last 5 years and will need to buy a bigger hard drive.
Faults with the camera? ... ...with is not big enough – only 8MB, it needs to be at least 16MB I would recommend 24MB unless you want to spend all your time downloading.
The digital zoom is not a lot of use – too much shake to be able to really use it in your hand and even though you can tripod mount the camera it is still not possible to fire the shot remotely. You could set the timer up to take the shot, but this will only work if your subject is not moving!
Why is it so good?

One thing I would have liked is a hard carry case. Whilst the camera is small and built within a shiny silver metal case, I get the feeling it could be easily damaged by dropping or banging it. Advantages: Absolutely Tiny, Rechargable Battery Disadvantages: On the pricey side, software could be better
The Canon Digital Ixus camera is awesome because it's absolutely tiny and yet packs in so many functions.
The basic functions are easy to use, but some of the more advanced functions are more difficult, just in remembering how to set them. The manual is reasonable and is written in good English. ...version of the film based Canon Ixus. Top resolution of this camera is 2.1 Mega Pixels. It has a very fast 2x zoom with good battery life. It's the smallest digital camera currently on the market which is why I like it.
