Advantages Advantages Small, pretty, high quality photos

Disadvantages Disadvantages No optical zoom, no case supplied

Intro = The IXUS i is the first digital camera I've owned; its looks and high photo quality caught my eye. The camera came in a small box; supplied in addition to the camera was various documentation, a 32MB SD memory card, battery & charger, TV connector cable, USB (PC) connector cable, and a variety of software for your PC, of which I will discuss later. Aesthetics The camera is stunning, and very well designed. There are few cameras that compare in size and weight at the 4.0 mega pixel point. The metal body of the camera adds to the look, whilst the front of the camera has a brushed finish ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small, chic, light

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No optical zoom

I've owned my Ixus for about a month now, and have to say I have been impressed by it. I'm not a photography professional by any stretch of the imagination, so this review is based on my own, personal opinion. Appearance The camera comes immaculately presented in a branded box. The camera itself is stunning. It has a metal body with a brushed finish that won’t get marked easily. The front does not have (too) many logos plastered all over it, as seems to be the case nowadays. The back is similarly nice, with a reasonable sized screen and good quality buttons. This is let down slightly by a ... more

Advantages Advantages small & sexy; impressive battery life; lots of included software

Disadvantages Disadvantages not particularly cheap, no battery life indication until it’s much too late, tendency to red-eye

The days when you needed a darkroom and trays of hazardous chemicals to experience the joys of developing your own photographs are now gone. Don't get me wrong, people will continue to perform the develop-stop-fix-stop cycle and thoroughly enjoy it, just as there will always be those that prefer their music to come from scratching a rotating vinyl disc. But with the advent of high-resolution, affordable digital cameras such as Canon's Digital Ixus, anyone can make their pictures look like a pro's. The most important feature of this, or indeed any, digital camera is its built-in full-colour ... more

    Advantages Advantages Decent price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not too many

Amazingly, for such a decent digital camera, the Canon Digital Ixus 400 is offered for sale at Amazon at less than £250 according to Google, although when you click the link, the Amazon says disappointingly, “This item is not in stock or has been discontinued”, although it goes on to offer new and used versions at just £220. I daresay that all that will soon change, however. Kelkoo suggests prices in excess of 300 notes, unfortunately. Best advice is to shop around. Also known as the Powershot S400, the Ixus is a compact, 4 megapixel digital camera, finished in the obligatory, ultra modern ... more

At work we’ve been using a Kodak DC280 for about 3 years. This camera has put in a good service, but after so much use and knocks, it is starting to look a bit worse for wear. Time then for a new digital camera! After some research on various models, we decided to go for the Canon IXUS I camera as this seemed to offer very good features, combined with a reasonable price tag (around £250). What’s in the box? As well as the digital camera, you are also supplied with the following: A comprehensive instruction manual Guarantee and registration material Software starter guide USB lead Audio/Video ... more

Advantages Advantages Size, speed, quality (picture & build)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Size, price, bundled accessories

After much nagging from my boyfriend I finally caved into getting him this camera for his birthday. I must admit, I am very sceptical when it comes to technology, but so far I am quite amazed with the performance from this tiny piece of kit. After convincing me to let him open it four days before his birthday, he proceeded to go around the house taking photos of everything from the ironing board to the contents of our kitchen bin. We managed to get 40 shots of medium quality on the card provided (8MB). Quite satisfactory, although annoyingly few if you're taking it away with you. I can see an ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, Good looking, affordable, handy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Digital zoom is no good, and Supplied CF is too small

I must start off by empahisising that this is NOT the best digital camera on the market. For the best quality of picture is does not even come close. Where this camera does win is on its size, convenience and durability. I bought mine a little over a month ago and have already taken over 1000 pictures, I have taken more pictures of my children in the last month than the last 5 years and will need to buy a bigger hard drive. Faults with the camera? The compact flash card it comes supplied with is not big enough – only 8MB, it needs to be at least 16MB I would recommend 24MB unless you want to ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, takes great photos, too many options, looks the part

Disadvantages Disadvantages Software not great, carry case would have been nice.

If there's one product which I use that I wouldn't mind selling, it would be our Digital Ixus. Bought for the company I work for, I use it all the time and it really is an incredible piece of kit. What do you get> The camera, software, USP connection & TV connection devices. A string handle is also provided, which, being Mr Clumsy, I use religiously. A battery & battery charger come with the camera. All the technical devices are well documented in the comprehensive instruction booklet. Ease of Use> In a nutshell, the camera isn't that easy to use at first. It takes time to find some of the ... more

Circle of friends with the Ixus ----------------------------------------------------- actual wanted to buy I for me the new Canon for Ixus for digital 300, there this already a 3-fold zoom lens has. As I in the media market however both the Ixus digital 300 and the "old" Ixus Dígital side by side watched, closed my decision rapid for the benefit of the old model. While the old Ixus has the size of a cigarette packet, the Ixus reminds digital 300 more of a miniature camera. The 300er increased in all three sizes. In addition to gets the by far bigger emphasis. And natural the price: As I which ... more

When I was shopping for a digital camera I wanted good picture quality in a small package. This is it!!!
