came upon this camera by accident. I was buying a spare camera for my wife who wants to take up photography. I was using a EOS1V. Then, I decide to shift to all manual. I am current using F3HP + FM3A. On every weekend, I like to go plane spotting. It is difficult not to use auto-focus camera for this purpose. This camera then become my tool! It has logged more miles than my Nikon now. I am seriously wondering, with the good experience of this 300v, should I purhcase the new EOS30V. I forgot to mention, I hate digital camera. 300V has many good advantages. It is light and ergonomic to hold (I ... more

Advantages Advantages Feels like a pro camera in the hand and easy to master

Disadvantages Disadvantages flash metering has been off a couple of times

My first SLR was a 300v which I bought as a pckage and whilst this was enough to get me hooked on photography I grew beyond it quite quickly. So I part exchenged it for the 30v date after reading a review for it in just before its release. It lived up to my perceptions of it from the moment I got it out the box. There is not a function I have not used in a situation. Unfortunatly there are too many to cover them all but the ones I ... more

Advantages Advantages Good to hold, comfortable and ergonomics very good

Disadvantages Disadvantages eye piece/viewer some people may find this off putting

Bought 5 months ago and is one of the higher priced SLR 35mm cameras but I consider to be of outstanding quality. Digital is still not upto the standard which is why I preferred to buy this than a digital SLR of the same price. Photo quality is excellent, and the range of functions will I am sure meet most peopls needs. The camera is a little on the weighty side but it is comfortable to hold and the function buttons that are most used are well within reach. I am not a photography expert but I have found this as my first SLR camera to be easy to use and would recommend to both beginner and ... more

Advantages Advantages Quality pictures, wide range of features, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Build quality could easily have been much better

This has been one of the best camera bodies that I have ever owned - it is sturdy, reliable and has even performed well in wet conditions, such as next to waterfalls (although I wouldn't recommend trying it if you have a choice!). The features are extensive and intuitive to use, and the photographs that it produces are of a superb quality. THere is one little gripe - the battery compartment is sealed with a flap on a plastic hinge, which (despite my being extremely careful with it) has already started to come loose after only a couple of years, and which I am expecting to break shortly ... more
