I've never been any good with cameras but have always loved photos of friends and family. I got this camera a couple of years a go as a present from my mum. the first thing I noticed about this camera was its size, really small and compact which makes it easy to travel and pop into any small bags for special occasions. I personally could never figure out how to load a film and annoyed friends and family members by getting them to do it for me. The drop film loading is as easy as it sounds you simply drop it in and with automatic winding and wrapping it couldn't be easier. With three different ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small and Compact

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit fiddly

This fantastic little camera has all the facilities and requirements that the average consumer will ever need. Attractive to look at and the feel of quality you would expect from one of the worlds leading camera and optical equipment manufacturers, complete with high quality leather carry case. Light and easily secreted into a pocket (even those annoying small pockets on shorts) this camera is quick to set up to ensure you will never miss that photographic opportunity. As this film utilises the Advanced Photo System even the smallest child would be able to load the film cartridge. Other ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small, excellent design

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No zoom

I purchased this camera in Saudi Arabia when it first came out, and at the time was streets ahead conventional cameras which were often big, black, heavy and hard to operate. This however packed in all the leading technologies at the time and it even comes with a remote, so no more wasted photos especially as APS films cost atleast 7 british pounds to develop. They come in either 24 or 40 exposure and you can have 3 different views. Normal, wide shot, and panoramic, which was the best in my view. You could also choose whether to print the time and/or date on the front of the photos or the back ... more

Advantages Advantages size, looks, and easy of use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none found

I bourght this product as a present for a family member. The reason I choose this product was because is represented value for money, as a combined set it comes with casing, batteries, manuel (fairly straight forward) film etc. The price I paid was £99.00 a year ago. Which at the time I thought for a 'new concept' camera, small credit-card size camera was good value. The camera main feature obviously has to be its size, LCD display, choice of three photo styles etc. The easy of loading using the new advanced photo system film make this camera all round to one of the best in its range. ... more

Advantages Advantages Good lens, great features, small, silver

Disadvantages Disadvantages Developing APS is expensive

I fell in love with this camera as soon as I laid eyes on it. It is so small, so slim, so silver. And the picture quality is superb - I have never had a bad shot in the two years I have owned it, and I have taken a LOT of pictures. The autofocus is brilliant, and the neat little remote control I got with my package is great. It has the best lens in it's class, and it fits into any pocket without being so bulky that it is uncomfortbale to carry it around. All this for under a £100. Buy it. ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small, lightweight

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No zoom

I’ve owned a Canon Ixus L-1 for several years, and have been very happy with the quality of photographs taken with it. The camera is small, lightweight, and comes with a carrying case, so can be easily carried around either attached to a belt, or in a bag or pocket. Photos can be taken in the 3 usual APS formats, including the Panoramic view, useful for taking pictures of landscapes at a distance. It is also possible to print the date and time on the reverse of pictures. The flash can be set to work automatically, along with red-eye reduction, which works well. The camera has a 26mm lens, but ... more

    Advantages Advantages Size

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Film processing costs

Having lugged a large and heavy SLR camera around on my travels I decided to go for something a bit smaller and took a fancy to the IXUS. I find it very easy to use and it's size is a big bonus (same size as a packet of cigarettes),you can carry it around in your pocket. The picture quality could be slightly better considering the cost of the camera and the film processing costs are a little high. Another disadvantage with this camera is that you can't use partialy exposed films. As a camera for taking simple holiday snaps, it's perfect. ... more

Advantages Advantages size, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages pictures are expensive to develop, not that many functions

It was my explicit wish to be given this camera for Christmas but I have only been semi content with my present. Fine, it’s a small camera and it is easy to use, but the films are quite expensive to develop. I don’ t understand why that is still so, especially with today’s advanced technology. There is no zoom on the camera, which is a big disadvantage. I was on a safari in Africa with this camera and apart from looking good, it was not much of a bonus to me. All the frames I shot of the animals are from really far away. And can someone please tell me, how the hell zoom pictures are meant to ... more
