Get close and personal with this camcorder

Advantages: excellent playback quality, excellent recording ability
Disadvantages: battery life!

I have always wanted a camcorder. Recently I have been very keen to purchase a DVD camcorder because the idea of recording direct onto DVD then playing it in a DVD player was amazing. It would be very expensive however to go with this option and I have been put off by the £300 - £500 for a decent camera price. The other reason I wanted a camcorder was because my digital camera although including a movie mode did not play continuous clips, by that ...
...and need to film another shot they are not continuous. I have been hinting at various people for a camcorder but never really expected it due to the price. I was therefore very lucky on Christmas day to open the present(s) from the other half and find I had everything I have hinted at. APPEARANCE ---------------------- The camcorder is rather dainty. It is silver in colour and to me I feel this gives it a very modern look at appearance. It does ...

Good for home movies, but little else.

Advantages: Inexpensive new, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Poor sound, videos lack vibrancy, poor connectivity.

I chose the Canon MD101 mainly because of good reviews here on Ciao and on Kelkoo, but I have to say that the £149 feels too much money for what is, really, a pretty basic machine. I bought the camcorder for YouTube projects, and had to contend with several comments about the poor quality of the finished product. I'll try to explain what I mean below... APPEARANCE The camera may be silver and shiny, but there is an overall feeling of flimsiness ...
...it the appearance of a toy, and although it's highly portable and ergonomically quite reasonable, it doesn't really look like a credible machine for much more than home videos. VIDEO The resolution on the machine is quite good, and playback on a TV is reasonable, but the colours do look flat, and lack vibrancy. There are a few pre-programmed options for recording, but they aren't sufficient to have enough control over the picture and light levels. ...

Grinning from ear to ear

...I have ever made. My Canon MD101, bought from Amazon for £179.99. I have resisted the temptation to write a review of it up to now as I'm not really up to speed on all of the features but I will give you my honest opinion of how amazing I have found the camcorder when using it on holiday, sports day and family weddings and why I believe that if anyone was looking to buy a camcorder regardless of the size of their wallet they should look no further ...
...Canon MD101 after looking around for something that wouldn't leave me skint and after seeing the Canon MD101 on Amazon I went along to my local Currys and Comet stores to try and get my hands on it just to see what it was like before ordering. As soon as I slipped it into my hands I knew immediately that this was the one for me. It was light (395 grams), compact (fits perfectly into my cupped hand - the actual size is 9.2cm high, 11.9cm deep and ...
