Advantages: Excellent value for money Disadvantages: Low battery
...i very nearly bought the Canon 250i)
The main difference between this camcorder and the 250i is the price, where the MV 750i is about £400-500 and the MVX250i ranges about £600-650. Notice the latter has an 'X' in its model number which means it is a 'Megapixel' camcorder; for normal consumers this simply means it has over 1024 million pixels whereas the 750i has 800,00 pixels on the CCD screen (the pivoting screen to look at instaed of looking ... ...with absolutely no difference in the picture quality! (I tested in the shops first.)
Faring far better than most for the same price, the 750i has a 22x Optical zoom and 440x digital zoom. When buying, disregard the digital zoom- all it does is take the original picture/frame and enlarge it digitally therefore pixelising the image and reducing the quality. As this camcorder has 22x optical zoom (the highest optical zoom in production is about 24x) ...

Advantages: Good price, picture quality and software Disadvantages: Feature changing complex, not ideal views in bright light
I have had four previous camcorders but this is my first digital camcorder and - wow - the quality of the still photos I have taken on my new MV570i
are just fantastic and stand out like 3D when displayed on my TV or PC monitor. The installation of the software supplied was a (no effort) dream with everything being found by my windows XP system.
I purchased an extra battery to give me an extra 6 hours of operation but have so far not had to use ... ...mins and can be charged at any point without the need to discharge the battery first.
Although it is very easy to use as a point and shoot camcorder/camera, the only thing I feel is a slight disadvantage is the complex operation to include any of the numerous facilities such as changing from one type of fader effect to another and if speed of scene capture is of the essence such as at a sports day event then it would be almost impossible to use ...

Advantages: A good first camcorder, easy to use, wide range of features Disadvantages: Not good amateur film competitions
The features of this camcorder is available on various websites and so I won't go into the hassle of droning on about it's features - as it's all technically too boring and complicated - if you're interested you can always look it up and you'll know what you're doing anyway. Rather, i will talk about what it's like to use this camcorder. If you're a budding photographer, forget this - as the print out will not be good - the pictures taken will only ... ...If you're a budding movie maker - it's probably not a good one to start off with - especially if you're going to get technical because you will only be able to transfer onto VHS from mini DV or onto a computer screen. If you want to shoot stuff for festivals or competitions then the quality of the product won't be good enough when you need to transfer to the appropriate format for showing and exhibition.
As a family camcorder and a complete beginner ...

Advantages: Great outside video footage. Disadvantages: Terrible lower light (indoors) video quality. Tape mechanism noise clearly audible on recording.
I bought the Canon MV750i camcorder as a replacement for a broken 4 year old Panasonic miniDV and was very disappointed, so much so that I returned it and got a refund. Outside footage is great, especially the colour reproduction, when compared to my old camcorder. But indoors in lower light conditions (e.g. a living room, during daytime with the lights on) this camcorder really struggles. Video is very grainy, colours are washed out, autofocus struggles ...
