Best Value Printer available - Feb 2005

Advantages: Flexible, Cost Effective, Easy to Use, Great Value
Disadvantages: Short on Bells and Whistles

...running costs, this is because Canon supplies the printer with individual print cartridges for each colour. When you print average documents you will use some colours more frequently than others. E.g. Black ink is used a lot faster than other colours. Most printers have the opportunity to fit a black cartridge separate to the colour cartridge. Canon has taken this idea a stage further. If you print a lot of photographs you might need extra blue for ...
...this is another way that Canon has avoided wasted cost. However if you don’t have one and forget to order you will be frustrated when you unpack the box. When choosing a cable be careful as these things are available for £3 or less but some suppliers will charge £15 for the same thing. Make sure you don’t just bundle it from the same supplier. Inkjet technology: This is an ink jet printer rather than a laser or dot matrix printer. The inkjet technology ...

The Best Printer Yet!

Advantages: Long lasting ink, CD printing, two trays, easy to use software package.
Disadvantages: None.

I purchased this printer during the boxing day sales, and it's exceeded all of my expectations. I know that printers are often sold at a loss as the manufacturers think they'll make it back in ink purchases, but this seemed too good to be true! In all honesty, I didn't know an awful lot about what I was buying, it just looked pretty good and was on special offer. It was only when I got this printer home that I realised what a bargain I'd grabbed ...
...two paper feeders, one being a tray which is very handy for just stacking your plain A4 in. The other "standard" top loading feeder is ideal for feeding in different sized paper, photo paper, or perhaps different coloured paper, that you wouldn't usually use. The beauty of the two trays is that a simple button on the front of the printer allows you to instantly switch, and whatever tray you select will be the one that operates when you print. There's ...

Another WINNER from Canon, the Dog's Wossnames

Advantages: Superb Print Quality, Exceptional borderless Photos, Fast, Cheap Compatible Ink Cartridges, Well Made, Prints on printable CDs/DVDs too
Disadvantages: No parallel connection. Does not make coffee

...bubbles and early failure. Canon have been at the leading edge of product design and innovation for years. And NO I don't work for them. I love their cameras, lenses and now their printers (but not the cheap ones). Sorry to sound prescriptive, but the Canon cheap range printers use tiny cartridges that run out very fast and cost the same as the bigger ones for iP3000. Setting up the iP3000 was a doddle and the software installation is hassle ...
...dead cheap (although the genuine Canon ones are quite dear). The iP3000 takes four cartridges, a large BCI-3eBk black and three seperate BCI-6 c/m/y cartridges, meaning that you don't waste a load of ink having to replace an entire cartridge just because one colour has run out. BEST place for cartridges, www.choicestationery.com superb service too. You get a full set of cartridges supplied with the printer, but at some time you will need replacements. ...

Canon IP3000 - Super fast printing!

Advantages: Ability to print straight onto the surface of a CD
Disadvantages: Front door flap for outgoing paper tends to bang down giving you the impression that it may break

I had no idea printers these days had the ability to print as fast as this one does, until there was an IP3000 bought for Christmas. It seriously feels like as soon as you put the paper in, the printer has done its job and spat it out again! Fantastic! I have noticed there is a higher model of this called the IP4000 which can print slightly faster. But if you ask me, an extra £30 purely to save an extra couple of seconds on print isn't worth it. ...
...^^^^ Features ^^^^ I suppose the most noticable function the IP3000 can perform is printing direct onto a CD surface. There is a CD drawer in which you simply insert a blank CD and away you go. Of course you would need blank faced CDs. The cheapest ones I managed to find were from PC World. They're Verbatim make and they cost £6.99 for 10. The software you will need to print in a circular shape is included on the drivers CD, along with other useful ...

An excellent Printer

Advantages: Fast for Most jobs. Prints onto CD
Disadvantages: Not many

This is a high quality product form Cannon. It is seriously good. It is the fastest inkjet I have seen for text and composite (text & graphics) documents. However it still cant hold a candle to a decent laser printer if your after fast printing, other than the price. This isnt really a printer designed for speed though. And whilst it does do fine printing fast documents, its photo printing where this printer really shows its worth. It can do seriously ...
...to differentiate from a photo lab equivilant. The printing speed does slow down considerably when you put it into really high quality, but that is to be expected, and is (in my eyes) a reasonable exchange. Mechanically this is a well designed machine. It is simple to use, with two paper feeds, a cassette that juts out the bottom, and a top loading tray. The lid does need to be opened when printing, somewhat removing its rather nice design. Feature ...

...I got some free canon photo paper with my printer, I thought I might aswell use it. I did and I haven't looked back. The quality is excellent. Granted i havent printed any amazing complex photos but my nephew is still as cute as pie in the printed photos! I also think the ability to print CD's is excellent, it comes with a plastic slot type thing that just place into a clearly marked input bit on the printer and away you go. If that isnt enough, ...

best printer i have owned

Advantages: very fast good quality printing at a buget price, cheap cartriges too
Disadvantages: cant think of any!

I wasn’t happy with my Epson printer, I had it for a couple of years and was looking for a replacement, I actually bought another Epsom (Epsom r200) to start with, but it was complicated and the print quality was not what was expected as the software kept referring me back to the factory settings, so after pulling my hair out and screaming at my pc I took it back and was then deciding what buy next. I had a good look around and this cannon caught ...
...had read up about it, but was slightly worried as it was cheaper than my first option. However I was not disappointed. I came home and easily set the printer up within minutes, I was impressed with the look of the printer as it folds up very neatly under my desk (although the flap at the bottom does sometimes come down slightly annoying but insignificant) The print speed is lightening fast and the quality is awesome, I still watch my prints come ...

...i thought i would try canon and it is the best thing i could have done, the print quality is very good for both photo's and cd's. the software and printer are both easy to use and understand. the seperate paper feeds are very useful as i keep my photo paper in the bottom tray and normal paper in the top. This printer is easy to find a space for on your desk because of its compact design. ...

...colours when one runs out. Canon also supplies with full tanks off the shelf, unlike epson who only gave me half full tanks. Oh yeah that's right, should (like epson) the print heads become totally defunct, you can simply buy a new print head. marvelous! I had to give away some cheap HP photo paper which wasn't friendly with the canon ink, but that's nothing compared to the total bargainness of this excellent Printer! Go get yourself one now! ...

CANON IP3000

Advantages: Lots of Features
Disadvantages: A little big for a small computer desk

What a great printer for the price. Not only do you get to print direct on to cdr/dvdr's but the print quality on everything that I have tried is fantastic. The only bad thing I can find is that when you have it placed on a hard surface (wooden desk) it gets a little noisy when picking up paper from the bottom loader cartridge, but printing is still smooth and quiet. I have had this printer since october last year and it hasnt let me down yet. The ...
...sky high. I have never had to use the head cleaning as the quality has always stayed high, and the way the flaps all close up ensures the printer stays dust free inside. If I was going to replace this with a newer one then I would go for another IP3000 or the IP4000 and above. An all round astounding printer for the price. After getting some helpful feedback and some people wanting more info on cdr/dvdr cd printing, I have decided to extend this ...

Just what I needed

Advantages: Seperate paper holders, cheap ink, prints straight onto cds
Disadvantages: It's a little noisy

I bought this printer after getting bored of paying a fortune for ink. The ink for this comes in 3 colours and one black. Therefore when one colour has run out, you simply replace that colour, instead of the whole cartridge. Great if you use loads of cyan and not alot of magents for examlpe. It's got 2 paper feeders, I use one for envelopes, and one for A4 paper, no more swopping and changing! It can print on both sides of the paper, without you ...

The photo printing software that came with it was really easy to use, even for a novice like me! I have no problems with at all, it looks good, its as compact as it can possibly be, and once again, the ink is really cheap! ...

Good Shots From This Canon

Advantages: Excellent photo prints, simple to use.
Disadvantages: Not found any yet.

...I have just received Canon ip3000 printer and a Kodak cx7430 digital camera as a Christmas present off my wife. I am only used to my old Desk Jet 400 printer (which still works). I hate having to learn about new equipment and seeing four ink cartridges set me into a panic. The Quick Start Guide instructions to the ip3000 are so simple to follow they are idiot proof. Loading the software onto the PC (using Windows 98) was easy - just put the cd in ...

Canon PIXMA IP3000

Advantages: Cheap for its quality!
Disadvantages: It looks like a big grey brick!

Retail Price is £78.99, which is fantastic for such a flexible and quality printer. This printer is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. The printer comes with an easy to use CD to install the software, which wizard should take over to easy instalation. However, it does have some problems with a few USB inports. The printer comes with dual trays to collect print outs in an organised order, and avoids piling preventing the exit of printed ...
...affordable. The prints look as impressive as photographic prints. The printer allows print properties to be changed so that it prints with fancy boarders, or prints right to the edge of the paper (no white boarder around the photo). It also comes with a CD printing facility. The colour cartridges are seperate from each other, so when one runs out, you only have to replace the individual colour, not, and not all the colour cartridges. The only negative ...
