Advantages Advantages Good Value, Paper saving features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could buy a multfunction printer for the same money

Canon Pixma ip4000 I have recently purchased the new canon Pixma ip4000, following the demise of my Epson cx3200. I decided not to buy another Epson , because all the ones I have had have been either, noisy, unreliable and prone to paper jams. The quality of the Epson print, seems unrivalled in the home printer market, however I was no longer prepared to put up with the constant paper jamming and unreliability. I was immediately struck by the canon Pixma ip4000, when I saw it had a horizontal paper feed cassette, which raised my spirits and I thought , this is the answer to all those paper jam ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent Quality, Quick, Quiet, Easy to use, Stylish

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not found any yet

Well I have to say up until I bought this printer, I was an HP man, always said the only printer I would ever buy was a HP, and more to it, I've avoided Canon since their Bubblejet days. I bought this on a recommendation by a friend and haven't regretted it since. I chose this printer mainly because I needed a Photo printer now, and also wanted a CD/DVD Printer, I had planned on getting the Epson r200 or r300, but just took this on the recommendation. I paid £100 for this printer from Argos, I could've found it cheaper elsewhere but had vouchers for Argos from my wedding. But for £100 I'm very ... more

Advantages Advantages Quiet, economical, cd label printing, duplex.

Disadvantages Disadvantages basic cd label software

I have owned an IP4000 for about a year now and I have to say it's one of the best printers i have ever owned and I have owned a few in my time. This is an exceptional machine which has given me excellant results each and everytime. I have found it very economical to run and consumable prices are not too bad either. Printing quality is very good over a wide range of papers though i do recommend using a good quality 100gsm paper if using duplex a lot. 80gsm will work fine but in my humble opinion a thicker paper is better if you intend to print on both sides. I have used photo papers from ... more

Advantages Advantages It is very, very fast!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite bulky!

Many people nowadays buy an all in one printer, scanner and copier all in one. However I went for the Canon Prixma ip4000 to compliment my Apple iBook. I knew that the printer was very fast for the price but I also knew that £110 for a printer for mainly just personal use, printing documents and the occasional photo was quite steep. However I thought that it would still be a good choice. I opened the printer in my living room and saw it was a lot bigger than most other printers and what I had imagined. I looked through all the booklets and could not find an instruction manual; all I could find ... more

Advantages Advantages super fast, super quiet and super quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages apart from a few niggles at the start nothing

After following the enclosed very easy to follow instructions on how to install the print head and ink cartridges (3 colour and 2 black) i began installing the drivers and software. This wasn't as plain sailing as I'd liked and had to done twice but that may have been down to a mistake I'd made but not noticed. I switched the ip4000 on with its strange corner mounted power button and after 30 seconds or so of It priming the print head I printed a test sheet and what struck immediately was how quiet and fast this printer was compared to old epson photo 750. The printers looks are another plus ... more

Advantages Advantages You get more than you pay for!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive initial outlay?

I have had this printer now about 6 months and it has been utterly reliable. Often with peripheral devices like these it is hard to pick any useful information out of the manufacturers hype and you have to delve deep into the technical specs which is time-consuming and annoying. Hopefully I will save you that hassle by making it clear that in all my experience of printers, Canon has proved to be the best. For a start, it is the most flexible printer I have owned - it has two sheet feeder systems - a cassette underneath the tray and a traditional sheet feed on top. Normally trying to a printer ... more

Advantages Advantages Separate and removable print head

Disadvantages Disadvantages Have'nt found any yet

I bought mine from PC World and within 25 mins of unpacking it was set up and running, Windows ME and using the parallel connection. No problems at all everything went according to the manual and worked first time. Prior to buying this I used an Epson color stylus 760, it finally clogged up completely and was suffering badly from cable slap and I'd had to replace the on/off switch with one from my junk box. Comparing prints from the same image the Canon is a little better but not that much, in a portrait the skin tones are smoother and individual hairs are sharper. In the past I've compared ... more

Advantages Advantages CD/DVD printing, glossy prints, dual action input tray, very quiet

Disadvantages Disadvantages cant think of any

Canon Pixma ip4000 I have recently purchased the new canon Pixma ip4000, and got rid of my old Epson C62. I have never bought another Epson , because all the ones I have had have been noisy, and gave me poor print quality. The quality of the Canon print, is superb! The first thing I noticed when I built up my new printer was the transparent see-through ink cartridges which you can tell at a glance when the ink's about to run out! What a clever idea and it doesn't have the annoying chip protect device the Epson had to prevent you from refilling it, if you so chose to. The other great thing ... more

Advantages Advantages excellent reliable versatile good quality output

Disadvantages Disadvantages slow start up, expensive oringinal cartridges and built in death date

Had my Pixima for several years it has produced excellent good quality output, occassionally high volume when it is a tad slow. So reliable but then it lets you down and snatches the paper. This is its weakest feature, the paper take up from the top tray. I have always used the expensive oriniginal ink cartridges and experienced no problems with ink splutter, other than of my own making! But the Canon printer has a built-in death date when you have to have it serviced to replace the 'ink absorber'. This is not a user option. Unless you live next door to a authorised service centre, this will ... more

Advantages Advantages 5 colour ink system

Disadvantages Disadvantages takes forever to dry,

Currently using this and it produces high colour pictures. it has a 5 colour ink system which is exspensive to replace the catridge ( depending what kind of store you go to ). The ink catridges last a long time as a matter of fact also it comes wired but you could use it wireless if you by the neccesery equipment. It works on all windows and macOS. The only problem i found with the printer is that when you print something it takes for ever to dry. Reccomended for people who like to have there print out's fast this one. There are good and bad points to all printers available, but I am very ... more
