Advantages: Cheap but high quality Disadvantages: No screen
I've always gone with HP for my printing needs and since ive got this I've been asking myself why. When I brought this printer a few months ago it cost me about £90 but i think its in the shops now for £60-£70 so its quite a cheap printer, therefore it must be rubbish? NO its the best printer I've ever had, true i never spend much on printers but this definitely surprised me with the quality. So what's it good for you ask? well here we go; General ... ...good and I've never had a jam or malfunction and I do a lot of printing I usually get through about 500 sheets a month. Therese 2 paper sources which is useful I usually have the bottom tray loaded with paper, although it could do with being able to hole a bit more paper, and i leave the top feeding thing (dunno what the technical name is, slide thingy i recon) folded down which looks nicer and also have it ready set to accept 4x6" photo paper, so ...

Advantages: Quiet, fast, square, a paper tray plus a feeder and excellent prints. Disadvantages: Slightly bigger than others of the same price range.
My previous printer was a Canon i850 - not a bad little printer - but it gave up recently so I started shopping around for a replacement. I half-heartedly looked at other makes, but the price and quality of the Canon printers, together with the price of their cartridges, always drew me back to them. They have a large range that I considered - the IP4200 was the cheapest at around £60, then the IP5200 and I also considered the MP500, an "all-in-one" ... ...with 5 sheets of 6x4 Canon Photo Paper Pro, so you can get started and I have to say, I wasn't greatly impressed when I printed out a couple of photos that I'd taken with my Kodak 3.1MP camera. But I did wonder if it was the actual photos that were the problem, rather than the printer, so I downloaded a high quality, high resolution photo off the internet and printed that out. WOW!!!! I have to say, it was just a picture of a cat, but I cannot stop ...

...one. We came across the Canon PIXMA iP4200 because it looked good and the price wasn't that bad either (about less than £70).
At first glance, it has a sleek and neat design, plus, it isn't all too bulky either unlike our other one which is huge- for the canon, when you don't need to use it, you can simply shut the lids down which is good because it makes it more compact and prevents any dust and dirt from getting in and damaging the thing so the ... ...but how well does the Canon PIXMA iP4200 perform? I only have one word : excellent. The resolution of the prints just blew me away along with the speed. The quality of the printing is fantastic therefore this printer definetly deserves 5 stars from me.
Also it doesn't go through all that 'printer warming up' thing that takes ages, it's suprisingly fast. Nevertheless, it is a slightly noisy (slightly, not very) but that hardly bothers me as long ...

After buying my canon ip4200 to replace an old printer I did not expect much from a printer costing so little, but I was pleasantly surprised.
my first print job was a music cd that I had recorded for my wife, this was my first printable cd so i had to rely heavily on the bundled software. again using the easy print tool box this was very easy to do and the results were amazing. Advantages: Prints well Disadvantages: Chipped cartridges a nightmare.
Ok. This is another thing I don't actually own. It's the main computer I work on at school and I sort of know what I'm talking about because I'm in charge of IT. So I err....bought it.
This'll be a brief one.
It's good. It prints well, has an easy set-up and came with functional, if not spectacularly exciting software. It has NASTY chipped cartridges which make cheap running a pain! It's quite chunky - you could almost have put a scanner on it.
... ...600x600 black. The prints are crisp, clean and colour matching was good. Possibly the best of the 6 or so models I am familiar with. Set-up is a straight forward affair but I would expect no different from a printer manufacturer today. If they complicate a simple enough process then they're serious fools. This one's fine. Connecting it to the netwok as a network printer has also been problem free.
The ports are standard USB and a fairly short power ...

This Canon Pixma iP4200 is the best printer I have ever owned, I have had Lexmark, HP and Epson printers in the past and been disappointed with them all for various reasons, when my last printer died, I went for this one, partly because of good reviews and partly for a new brand.
The iP4200's silver plastic case feels solid and looks less boxy than other recent Canon models.

...decided to go for the Canon based purely on the fact that it had individual ink cartridges at around £8.00 each.
The Pixma iP4200 was the cheapest I could find and had quite an impressive spec, but I was a little dubious that such a cheap printer would perform well.

The Canon Pro Glossy paper is prohibitively expensive - only worth it for very special photos you need to display - otherwise there are lots of cheaper alternatives e.g. ASDA even do an own brand photo paper.

Great printer, easy to use and fast printout. Has usb connectivity making it plug and play. Pict bridge connection if you have a suitable digital camera.
It seems to be economical with ink useage and the inks arent as expensive as alot of models on the market.
With it having several ink cartridges you only need to replace the one that is empty whereas others if the colour goes you cant just replace the cartridge that the colour has run out of.

...new direction and chose a Canon IP 4200. It is a very good machine. It is quite fast, although I could only reach the rated speed when selecting the lowest print quality. This printer is very sturdy and it has two paper feeders... on gravity feeder on top and a bottom drawer. Switching between the two is easy with the press of a button on the front of the printer. When replacing all five at once it is almost the same price as the printer itself. So make sure you check the cost of replacement cartridges first. It does have a nice, but interesting, feature. When inserting the cartridge into its place a red light lights up under each cartridge. Red was perhaps not the best choice since red usually means trouble, but the light do start to flicker when the ink is running low, making ...

Advantages: Quality, speed, double sided printing Disadvantages: Noise is a drawback but I can live with it.
The Canon iP4200 is a simply outstanding printer for printing documents, letters and even photos alike. What suprised me most was the superb quality and the quickness. Plus, it's not like my Epson that took ages warming up and preparing for printing. The Canon's features are brilliant; there are two paper feed trays, ability to print double sided and print CDs. Advantages: fast high quility prints Disadvantages: flimsy bottom paper tray
I brought this printer about 6 months ago as i thought it was time to upgrade. The thing that strikes me about the printer is that it has two paper tray's which is great because you can have photo paper in the bottom tray and normal plain paper in the top. It also has doble sided printing which also stuck me for the price. But the best thing about the printer has to be the speed and the quility of the print's. The reason why the quilty is so good ... ...yellow, 1 cyan and 1 magneta. This also means that when 1 colour runs out you dont have to through all colours away like with the printers with just 2 ink cartridges. To sum up this printer is exillant fot the price although the bottom paper tray is a bit flimsy and ugly when you have a4 paper in it but that doesont bother me. ...

Advantages: economical Disadvantages: A bit of messing around to use third party cartidges
I have had this printer for over a year now - I bought it when they had just hit the market. Looking at the price now brings a tear to my eye (£54 is an absolute bargain). I shopped around at the time & paid around £90.
Cartridges were a bit expensive, but third party cartridges are now available & remember that the use of four separate ink tanks prevents a lot of wastage. The installation of third party cartridges does require the removal & refitting ... ...is logged by the printer - so bye bye warranty!
I would say it is quite economical with the ink - I have only replaced the cartridges a couple of times & it does see a reasonable amount of use. If you use the bottom paper cartridge, the lid can stay closed & it looks really neat on the desk.
Major benefit is the direct printing of CD/DVD's. Amazing quality.
I don't tend to use the printer for photo printing a great deal - but when I have the quality ...

I bought this printer in December and have had nothing but problems with it. The first one was when one of the cartridges stoped being recognised by the printer meaning I could not use it at all.
