Advantages: Great quality prints Disadvantages: A little slow but the best comes to those who wait!
...models I came across the Canon Pixma IP4500. I bought this printer from Ebuyer for £63.00 which was much cheaper than some of the well-known electrical / computer stores.
The printers design is simple - the body is mainly black with silver surroundings. It has the usual on/off button, cancel/feed button, and a button to switch between input trays. It doesn't have any memory card slots but does have a PictBridge USB port.
This model has two paper ... ...tell the difference between my canon photo print compared to a lab print). I do find the photo prints to be a lot lighter than on-screen as it uses auto-correcting which you can disable.
Overall this is the best printer I have had in years and would recommend it to anyone doing a little more than general printing as the ink can be quite expensive.
Best of all my Scrapbooking hobby is alive and kicking as I no longer need to wait for professional ...

Advantages: Quiet, fast, quality prints, reliable paper feed, will take cheaper ink cartridges. Disadvantages: Not all fault codes listed. Problem with surplus ink pads.
While I have been very pleased with this printer, it has failed after just 15 months of light use. The fault light flashed 12 times, and guess which fault signal was not in the manual? Googled it and found a clue. Checked the small sponge pads under the printer head, where it rests, and found that the left hand one was raised, not flat. Was able to get it right with a bit of awkward fiddling, and printing resumed. It happened again, and was able ... ...the sponge had move away. It happened again, and now the sponge has disappeared entirely. It's a very awkward place to get to, and i guess the printer is now unrepairable, cost wise. Very disappointing, as it was so much better than my Epsons. Update. for some reason I decided to give it one more try, and Googled the ink pad. Found a forum article talking about the surplus ink pads that collect the excess ink from the head, and how to enter the service ...

Advantages: sleek looks, not the ususal vanilla unit in the corner, quiet Disadvantages: Slight premium when initially buying the printer, some ink can be expensive
...I was fearful of the Canon ink being at a premium. This has proved not to be the case, with the ink no dearer that other manufacturers. The cartridge set up on this printer lends itself to to ink economy with its separate units, and that is all before you even consider ink re-sellers.
Quiet in operation, superb printing in all modes, including photo reproduction, excellent connectivity and great looks make this a definite recommendation ...

Quick review of Canon PIXMA iP4500
I am very dissatified with this printer. When usinf photo paper the colours are so vivid the are untrue but the wors thing is that when printing a photo you can actually RUB OFF THE BLACK INK with your finger. I used a good quality Kodak photo paper and the black ing just wouldnt stick to it After printing a photo the printer leaves lines in the darker colours Ye printing on a printble DVD it is perferfec an i can't fault it .....This is not as good as my old Canon i550...I will not have another Canon printer again. ...

Advantages: Great Value for money and best for professional looking studio prints Disadvantages: none
This is the best value printer I have ever bought. I have tried other printers but this one alone has the professional quality I was looking for. Better than any Epson of similar price by a mile. Professional looking prints with no edge smudging in the border off option. It is sleek black, looks good and it isnt at all difficult to use. The CD printer is fantastic so you can print your own cd covers just like the professionals. Great for beginners ...
