Advantages Advantages Picture quality, portability, 5x zoom, RAW shooting, high-res monitor, manual options

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noise at higher ISO

Why buy a Canon G10? For about the same price you could get an SLR with a much bigger sensor. And whilst at 80 ISO the G10 with its 14.7 megapixels actually gives better resolution than Canon’s 1000D SLR, at 400 ISO and above its resolution falls away and noise increases dramatically. But at the SLR’s base price you would not get a 28-140mm (equivalent) zoom; and the G10’s compactness and light weight make it a far more attractive option as a camera that you can take with you everywhere. It does most things very well, and some things brilliantly. The most direct competition in a compact comes ... more

Advantages Advantages autofocus, big screen, face detection, 14,7 megapixel, image processor, image stabilisation

Disadvantages Disadvantages chunky, not very stylish, not as portable as other cameras

I recently bought one of these at an expensive price. I shall explain some features and my feedback to this item below. The 14.7-megapixel G10 replaces the PowerShot G9 at the top end of the clever compact space. It's a chunky beast of a camera, as you'll see in your pictures, but still smaller than a dSLR with comparable power and flexibity. The G-series are designed to be the back-up cameras you can keep in your pocket if you don't want to bust out the dSLR, and the G10 certainly packs a lot into its relatively compact frame. The G10 includes all the whistles, bells and accordions you'd ... more

Advantages Advantages RAW format, manual- automatic, 14.5MP, external flash option, solid, GOOD filmcamera!

Disadvantages Disadvantages If the zoom would be even more...I could even get those pretty little birds up in the tree!

I studied photography at the Art academie for a year. At that time I was carrying a big analog camera around, also Canon, which I have taken beautiful photo's with. The step to digital has frightened me a bit so it took a while before I was ready to take the plunge. The first digital camera I had was just a disaster and made me go back to my old camera. A few months ago I planned a trip to Thailand and didn't want to carry a big camera with different lenses. After extensive research on the matter I choose this one. The possibility to take photo's in RAW format made the choise easy for me ... more

Advantages Advantages Very stylish and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages None the best I have found in a while

I bought the Canon G10 in October because I wanted something I could just put into the car glovebox and get out if I saw something I needed to take quickly. I was not disappointed one little bit at all. The Canon G10 has superb features and is very very easy to use indeed. It has many many advanced features that even the amatuer photographers could get to grips with no sweat at all. The screen to view is large and more than adequate. If you want a camera that is point and shoot then go for something a bit cheaper without that little something extra which this definitely has. You will not be ... more

Advantages Advantages Everything from the casing to the image quality.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It's too good.

This is by far the best camera I've owned in a while, to be honest I went in looking to purchase a G9 but I was told they wasn't in production anymore so I thought what the heck G10 here I come :) After the shocking service from Currys.Digital I got the bus home with my camera excited as ever after a customer in the shop actually stood there and told me about how good it is when he purchased one. Got home, opened it up in joy, the battery actually had charge in it, snapping away for a good 20 minutes before I decided to give it a good charge. Fully charged, fully excited I took it out for a ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to use, great pictures

Disadvantages Disadvantages must buy an attachment to use different lenses

I first got this camera after my mother upgraded to a larger, and some would say better, Canon camera. I took over the G10, and I've never looked back. It's a point and shoot camera, but it allows for manual settings, so you can change your ISO and shutter speed quite easily. In my opinion, it's very easy to navigate. I think that the pictures that it produces are just as good as those produced by similar products, if not better. It is hard to change the lens, however, because it requires a special part. That being said, as a photography, it is a worthy investment. With the right attachment ... more

Advantages Advantages Great retro looks, easy to use, excellent pictures in low lighting and overall a wonderful camera.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It can be a little cumbersome for small children to use.

From the moment I bought this camera I fell in love with it. Apart from the obvious great retro look, in my opinion it takes amazing pictures. It takes pictures, in my opinion that are more likely to come form a DSLR. I have had lots of people asking about the camera, it really does turn heads. The camera feels really robust and is obviously made using high quality materials. It's very easy to use, my young daughters have no issues taking great pictures and are able to download from the SD card with easy. It has a mount for a flash which is a great addition to this amazing camera. I would ... more
