Advantages: Picture quality, portability, 5x zoom, RAW shooting, high-res monitor, manual options Disadvantages: Noise at higher ISO
Why buy a Canon G10? For about the same price you could get an SLR with a much bigger sensor. And whilst at 80 ISO the G10 with its 14.7 megapixels actually gives better resolution than Canon’s 1000D SLR, at 400 ISO and above its resolution falls away and noise increases dramatically. But at the SLR’s base price you would not get a 28-140mm (equivalent) zoom; and the G10’s compactness and light weight make it a far more attractive option as a camera ... ...things very well, and some things brilliantly. The most direct competition in a compact comes from the Panasonic LX3. While not quite matching the LX3’s low light performance the G10’s superior zoom (5x as opposed to 2.5) makes it far more versatile, and at low ISO it has superior, not to say stunning, resolution. So what about the G10’s supposed Achilles heel- it’s relatively poor low light performance compared to an SLR or even the LX3? Well for ...

Advantages: autofocus, big screen, face detection, 14,7 megapixel, image processor, image stabilisation Disadvantages: chunky, not very stylish, not as portable as other cameras
I recently bought one of these at an expensive price. I shall explain some features and my feedback to this item below.
The 14.7-megapixel G10 replaces the PowerShot G9 at the top end of the clever compact space. It's a chunky beast of a camera, as you'll see in your pictures, but still smaller than a dSLR with comparable power and flexibity. The G-series are designed to be the back-up cameras you can keep in your pocket if you don't want to bust ... ...into its relatively compact frame. The G10 includes all the whistles, bells and accordions you'd expect: optical image stabilisation, face detection and various scene and colour modes. These include panorama stitch assist, portrait, landscape, and aquarium. The larger-than-most 1/1.7-inch sensor is teamed with Canon's new DIGIC 4 image processor, which is claimed to boost speed and cut down on noise. GOOD BITS
servo autofocus, which continually ...

Advantages: RAW format, manual- automatic, 14.5MP, external flash option, solid, GOOD filmcamera! Disadvantages: If the zoom would be even more...I could even get those pretty little birds up in the tree!
I studied photography at the Art academie for a year. At that time I was carrying a big analog camera around, also Canon, which I have taken beautiful photo's with. The step to digital has frightened me a bit so it took a while before I was ready to take the plunge. The first digital camera I had was just a disaster and made me go back to my old camera. A few months ago I planned a trip to Thailand and didn't want to carry a big camera with different ... ...one. The possibility to take photo's in RAW format made the choise easy for me because as far as I know, only this camera of this size can do this job. That's why many professional Photographers have one of these for jobs where a big camera is not a good option. (like basejumping...)
It makes nothing but good quality photo's,(ofcourse depending a little on the photographers skils) just as good as with my bulky camera. The colors are just phenomenal! ...

Advantages: Very stylish and easy to use Disadvantages: None the best I have found in a while
I bought the Canon G10 in October because I wanted something I could just put into the car glovebox and get out if I saw something I needed to take quickly. I was not disappointed one little bit at all. The Canon G10 has superb features and is very very easy to use indeed. It has many many advanced features that even the amatuer photographers could get to grips with no sweat at all. The screen to view is large and more than adequate. If you want ...

Advantages: Everything from the casing to the image quality. Disadvantages: It's too good.
This is by far the best camera I've owned in a while, to be honest I went in looking to purchase a G9 but I was told they wasn't in production anymore so I thought what the heck G10 here I come :)
After the shocking service from Currys.Digital I got the bus home with my camera excited as ever after a customer in the shop actually stood there and told me about how good it is when he purchased one.
Got home, opened it up in joy, the battery actually ... ...minutes before I decided to give it a good charge.
Fully charged, fully excited I took it out for a play as soon as possible, let me tell you this thing is === amazing. === I can't describe how good it is. Everything from fully auto to fully manual, it's just awesome from the ease of use right to the actual image.
I even dropped mine in the brook =$ still worked!!
Seriously reccommend this product! ...
