Expensive but classic design
Review of Canon PowerShot S20 by
LindsayBuchan
Advantages: Beautifully designed and made, high quality pictures
Disadvantages: Expensive and lacks some features
...to it because I like Canon cameras, I have an EOS100 slr and a Canon Ixus advanced photo system camera. The latter is beautifully designed and very solid, I would have bought the digital Ixus if it took higher quality pictures.
I needed the camera for business principally, and wanted the highest pixel picture I could afford at the time, buying it in America there wasn't much else could tough it at the time.
It's very tough, although the caseing ...

Pocket Full o'Hi-Res fun
Review of Canon PowerShot S20 by
stephbu
Advantages: Clear LCD
Disadvantages: Poor Zoom, and Stingy memory in the box
...that attracted me to the Canon S20 was it's size and weight. This portability really enhances your opportunities to use the camera, since its no longer a logistics issue to take a good camera anywhere.
The next thing that featured high on the list was the resolution, at 3.3Mpix. The camera produces amazing quality images at highest resolution, though it sucks up memory very quickly (Memory is provided in the form of compact flash cards) With 16Mb ...

A masterpiece of modern technology
Review of Canon PowerShot S20 by
PeterRodhouse
Advantages: Small, stylish and MegaPixels
Disadvantages: Cost
...of the many available the Canon Power shot s20 has to be one of my favorites. With its delicious 3.3 Mega pixel resolution capable of producing decent A3 size pictures without substituting quality. Along with its glorious optical zoom makes this camera a winner in my book.
Not much bigger than a conventional compact camera and the option to have an IBM microdrive memory of up to 340MB!!!!! is just a bonus.
I highly recommend this camera to all of ...

Only need to say 1 thing....
Review of Canon PowerShot S20 by
Niknak
Advantages: Image Quality, price, features
Disadvantages: Mediocre software
....3.3 Megapixels, nuff said really.
Only that as a user of the camera, I've found it easy to operate, offers excellent picture quality, even at smaller resolutions, good quality digital zoom, loads of features.
Only one minor niggle, the zoombrowser software that comes with the camera isn't brilliant, not an exactly intuitive interface and it doesn't like working with images accross networks, especially Netware. You have to download to a local ...

My S-20 Experience
Review of Canon PowerShot S20 by
robharg
Advantages: Durable, reliable, high quality, many advanced features
Disadvantages: Auto colour balance not always good, difficult to lock focus on consecutive shots, uses a lot of battery power
I bought this camera very cheaply secondhand to use for rocket aerial photography. After hitting the ground hard many times it soon became apparent that the camera was more durable than expected, with no malfunctions after a few months use.
I own other digital camera's, and am impressed with the speed at which the S-20 focuses and takes pictures, although the light sensitivity of the CCD seems poor - a 4 second exposure of a moonlight scene produces ...

CANON S20 POWERSHOT GOOD LOOKS BUT FLAWED
Review of Canon PowerShot S20 by
Muzz64
Advantages: Size, weight, bright back screen, simple controls
Disadvantages: clunky, poor software, small cf card supplied, poor customer service support
...MISSING WHEN OPENED, AND TOOK CANON UK 3 MONTHS TO SHIP THE PARTS, AFTER CLAIMING THAT THE PART ( A BATERY COVER DID NOT EXIST).
CONTROLS SIMPLE TO USE, THOUGH BATTERY COVER AND CF COVER NOT WELL BUILT AND WILL FAIL WITH REGUALR USE.
GOOD DESIGN THAT HAS NOT DATED, THOUGH NOT TO THE STANDARD OF THE IXUS OR OLYMPUS MJU, WHICH ARE DATELESS.
OVERALL, A GOOD CAMERA THAT HAS TAKEN SOME GREAT SHOTS BUT HAS NOW BROKEN AFTER LESS THAN 1,000 SHOTS. ...
