Advantages Advantages Built like the proverbial outhouse. Indestructable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Built like the proverbial outhouse. Damn heavy.

I bought my Canon T90 fifteen years ago to take on holiday and dropped it of a moving taxi on about the third roll of film. It is still going strong. In that time my wife has worn out three identical Minoltas of a slightly lower spec and she treats them pretty well. I won't go into the spec in too much detail. Its an SLR camera, down to 1/4000 shutter speed, single or multi-spot metering, no autofocus, integral autowind, etc, etc. I saw a slightly worn second hand one today for £225 and a mint one which looked brand new for £425 (Cambridge). It is very heavy with a full load of batteries and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Everything

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price of internal battrey

The T90 was introduced in 1986. It was a brave move on Canon's part to bring out an all singing all dancing top of the range manual focus camera as other manufactures were releasing autofocus cameras. Although the camera was discontinued in 1991 it is still a very sort after camera, with good condition bodies going for more than the body with a 50mm lens went for when new. With shutter speeds from 30 seconds to 1/4000 of a second, flash sync up to 1/250th, enough exposure modes to almost make the manual option redundant and a choice of metering options (centre weighted, partial and multi spot) ... more

Advantages Advantages Absolutely everything in a non AF SLR

Disadvantages Disadvantages still expensive secondahnd but worth it.

The Canon T90 is no longer manufactured as a new camera, but is available secondhand. This and the F1 are undoubtedly the best non AF SLRs ever made, with only Nikon equalling them. The T90 is the powerful electronic SLR with on-board computer. It boasts a fast built-in autowinder, shutter speeds to 1/4000s and multimode metering. The multi-spot metering system ensures allows the photographer to select areas for spot metering and take several readings which are automatically averaged. This is the equivalent of Zone metering. The average, weighted average and spot metering systems allow the ... more

Advantages Advantages only thing it lacks is m/f ,and that adds to the fun of taking the shot.

Disadvantages Disadvantages if it breaks you might as well buy another, but read that they keep going so not too worried

I read quite a few reviews before purchasing a T90 six months back ,was a hard call ,i wanted a camera i could carry as a backup that could also serve as a full frame shooter rather than spend shedloads more money on ultra wide lenses.i narrowed my choice down to a nikon f100 or T90.The nikon i know is also a legend, but i the end the prices of f100,s put me off, also tracking down a lightly used one was difficult.so i picked up a t90 average condition and a nikon fx90 in about same condition. Having used both for a few months now i am growing really fond of the T90 and find it consistently gets ... more
