Advantages Advantages Fast, Quiet, Economical, Stunning quality, PictBridge interface

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cannot print CDs, Flimsy output tray

This is the tight-fisted old git's guide to getting a decent printer. The cost of the printer DOES NOT relate to continuing running costs. There are other aspects such as ink and cartridge prices to take into consideration. Having had 3 Epson Stylus printers fail in 2 years I was loath to buy Epson again. The printheads are just too prone to failure from something as simple as an air bubble. I was looking for a decent printer at a reasonable price, with reasonable running costs and generic cartridges readily available. I have an inherent dislike of printers with the head integrated with the ... more

Advantages Advantages Superb quality, low running costs...

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit bulky? None really...

I purchased my Canon i560 printer and spare cartridges for it from the wonderful ebuyer.com for the bargain price of around £100. I'd recommend shopping around though if you intend to buy one. Although this initially seems like quite a bit for mid-range inkjet, you must bear in mind that the cartridges are simply ink tanks and can be found for around £3 each per colour. Also the ink lasts for ages so this works out a very cheap printer to run. I bought it in replacement of my old Epson Stylus 680, a hideous printer which was unreliable, not particularly good quality and cost an absolute ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant Prints, Individual Cartridges, Good Tech.Support

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes hard to find cartridges

I bought this printer in the need and hope for something to do fantastic prints, something easy to use and cheap to run. What I hoped for is what I got. I have used this printer for a year now and haven't had any problems yet. It has a connection for Canon cameras that have the some connection. USB connection Power lead. Individual cartridges. The best thing I've found about it is that I don't have to fork out over £20 for a cartridge at a time, instead the choice that having individual cartridges means that I pay around £9 a time for colour and £11 for black. The print quality is fantastic ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use and Cheap to run

Disadvantages Disadvantages will only take A4 max

I recently bought the Canon i560 printer primarily for use as a general purpose printer. I found the installation very straight-forward. The packaging was excellent and it took me only about 40 minutes to get it up and running on my XP system. As part of the introductory pack, canon included some photo paper and I tried this out. Fisrt of all, I forgot to set the paper size and wasted some sheets. When I finally got the hang of it, I was absolutely staggered by the quality of printing on photo paper. I have used the printer for textm graphics and photos and i have found it absolutely excellent ... more

Advantages Advantages superb photo printing, fast, small footprint

Disadvantages Disadvantages text printing not very black

Installed and printing in 5 minutes, could not be easier. Fantastic borderless photo printing. I am a professional photographer and it would be difficult to disinguish the Canon i560 results from lab prints. From a 4 colour system this is amazing. Who says you need 6 or 7 colours for brilliant results? My only slight disappointment came from the text / document printing. The text does not look true black although it is very clear and crisp, it looks a little washed out. Is this most likely an ink problem? I also wish I could set it to high quality for printing on plain paper, but it does not ... more

Advantages Advantages lower ink costs, good photos, clear draft mode

    Disadvantages Disadvantages nothing obvoius yet

My requirements were for a printer with separate ink tanks, A4 borderless printing, low ink costs and good quality images for my digital photography. The printer has not disappointed on any count. My daughter's university notes get printed out in draft mode and the quality is great, every bit as good as my last printer's normal text, but my digital photos are superb. Colours and clarity are excellent with most photo papers. It’s neat, quiet in operation and gives excellent results. It comes with a decent paper manual and setup is simple. The Epson C84 is cheaper, but the cartridges are more ... more

Advantages Advantages quality prints-cheap cartridges-quiet operation

    Disadvantages Disadvantages french instruction manual

I do a lot of photo printing and have allways used Epson printers (epson300, c60, 830u) and every one has had the same problem, blocked nozzles. I use a canon printer at work and have never had a problem so after a bit of research I decided to plump for the canon i560. This printer produces top quality prints including borderless prints, is very quiet, compact and looks very stylish on your desktop. Compatable cartridges are very cheap and are readily available at most ink supply sites. I bought this printer on-line from pixmania for £97 including a usb lead and delivery but when it arived ... more
