Advantages: 0.5 percent cashback on all purchase transactions Disadvantages: far less competitive than it used to be
...Having checked extensively on Capital One's website, I can't see that they do two Circle Mastercards - and the one I've got - Circle Rebate - offers 1% cashback on all purchase transactions. I'm a reasonably high earner and have a good credit record, and nearly always pay off my card bills in full at the end of the month. I decided last year to look for a cashback card which I could use for everyday purchases in place of my debit card, and got an ... ...so when I found that Capital One did a Mastercard with the same basic deal I was interested.
The interest rate isn't competitive - but I don't pay interest due to paying off the balance. The credit limit I received was perfectly adequate - but Capital One don't advertise this as a 'first time' card or for those with below average credit scores - the whole point of this card to me is the cashback scheme. By the time my wife and I have paid £1400 ...

...thought I would write about Capital One as a company and the benefits I have found from being with them.
Firtsly I would like to say well done! I mean being stuck in a queue for hours on end talking to a person who speaks with the same dull tone and repeats herself continuously is not my cup of tea and sadly you get that now-a-days. We are living the automated era, where people cannot be bothered to speak to people. Instead we talk to machines who ... ...of technology I came accross Capital One whom accepted me and took me under their wing enabling my credit score to soar higher than expected and giving me peace of mind.

...seen adverts for this the Capital One Master card every where. Deciding on applying for one was easy as it would only be used in emergency! Advantages: Nice designs, interest free period, easy to sign up Disadvantages: Fairly steep late payment charges
I signed up to this card because I myself was advertising the cards on my site. It was the first credit card i had applied for and didn't realise how difficult it could be at my age to get one. They signed me up with no problems at all and i was sent my personally designed card within a week. I had £1000 credit limit (whether this was a good thing or not i'm not sure). The first 6 months were interest free and worked out really good value. I only ... ...using the card. I first applied for a Capital One card just after my 18th birthday, as I had no credit rating and was looking to build one up.
The only company I approached who would accept me was Capital One, great, thought I, I'll use the card a couple of times and pay the bill over a period of time, thus earning a good credit score.
The card came through, I activated it and used it, but on my first statement noted that payment protection insurance had been ... ...as my parents had notified Capital One of my situation.
You can understand my displeasure then, when my next statement had a £25 late payment fee, which took me over my card limit and caused me to incur an overlimit fee also.
When I finally got out of hospital, I phoned Capital One, who were very sympathetic, but told me it was basically tough. It was only after several letters and further phone calls to various managers, that I received an apology ...

Advantages: Balance transfer rates they offer are very cometitive Disadvantages: Another credit card to run up bills with!!
...have only recently received my Capital One card so I am hoping it will work out the way I have planned. I would normally apply for a card just to get the introductory low rates then not use it for buying but for balance transfers only. They kept sending me flyers saying I had been preselected to apply for their card and how simple it would be to get one. However the small print said the APR they were prepared to offer was in the region of 30% so ... ...more and more annoyed with the ads on T.V. that promoted this cheap interest rate card when it clearly wasn't by the flyers I was sent! Then they sent me a flyer that said I would be offered a lot lower rate and was I interested? Get credit cards for a reason. If you want one with a low APR, get one of them. If you want one with a low balance transfer rate, get one of them. If however you want to spend and spand & get paid for the priviledge, then this is the king of cash back cards.
Very very very few cards offer a rate of 1% cashback with no minimum spend limit- in fact I have only seen the American Express card doing this currently.
So you don't have to spend £3000 or ... ...That's excellent!
You can apply online- in the past they have been a bit fussy (been turned down for no reason at all really!) and a few months on I re-applied and they accepted me. Hurrah!
Nice automated service too- very sophisticated. Never heard of one that lets you confirm receipt of your card via one of these! And you can sign up for an online account so easily. No hassle. Just go to their site.
And it's a pretty little card too.. and robust! ...

Applied for CapitalOne Platinum card over three years ago, and was sent a card (Platinum!) with £200 credit limit !!! What use is that. Despite repeated requests, they have never offered me an increase, despite the fact that I have a 1st class credit record. (I now have Plat Amex, and Plat Barclaycard) They say that part of the reason is that I don't use my card enough - how can I ?? A weekly shop at Sainsburys and a tank of petrol would exceed my limit.
The call centres are mainly offshore (India I think) and just read from scripts.
Only use this if you have no other option. ...

After reading the reviews and seeing that this card was recommended by which I thought I'd give it a try.
I tried calling them one morning, spend over 20 mins listening to some hold music before giving up. I tried the following day in the afternoon and after about 25 mins was put through to someone to speak to about this card.

Capital one is supposed to be the best bank to go to for a credit card if you have bad credit history, CCJ'S etc. They offer credit cards which help rebuild your credit file.

The only problem is they lie and if you have adverse credit and ccj's you can not get one.
