'Capital' ain't how I'd describe it!

AdvantagesEase/speed of application

DisadvantagesCustomer service

"I chose the Capital One credit card when I needed to get a credit card quickly to pay for my work expenses. I’d managed to avoid getting a credit card when at university but was forced into getting a credit card when I started my job as my work travel company wouldn’t accept switch. And so I was faced with deciding between the hundreds of credit cards that are available. (Please ignore the two long paragraphs at the end of this review if you’re not ..." Read review

Pretty plastic for everyone....

AdvantagesNearly everyone who applies gets accepted.

DisadvantagesHidden interest rates.

"...card? You probably can with Capital One! 'Aha!' I hear you cry. 'There are other companies that provide credit cards for people with difficult credit histories, so what makes Capital One so special?' 1) An easy application process: You can log on to Capital Ones website and complete the application online in a matter of minutes. At the end you get an immediate decision. The form is easy to fill in, you are guided every step of the way and best ..." Read review

Distinctly Average

AdvantagesThey will accept you if you have a poor credit rating

DisadvantagesHigh interest rates, no features

"...sparkling credit rating then a Capital One Classic Card may be for you. There are actually 2 options you can get - The Classic reviewed here or The Platinum which is for people with good credit records. You can apply online or in one of the many leaflets they drop into magazines these days. Applying online is relatively painless. It only took me 3 minutes to complete the form although at the end of my application the site hung and I wasn't ..." Read review

4% That will do nicely

Advantages£4 in my pocket for every £100 I spend

DisadvantagesNeed to make sure you don't overspend

"...reducing balance. I applied for my Capital One Mastercard through the Mutual points website (a few points into my account there). This was a simple painless quick process. I needed my bank details to do this so its worth having them ready if you want to apply for a card on line. In a few days I recieved paperwork to sign and shortly afterwards my card and pin number arrived in seperate envelopes and I was ready to head off spending. As I have ..." Read review

Captial One Can Help!

AdvantagesGood for bad credit

DisadvantagesHigh interest rate

"...brill - this is where Capital One came to the rescue. The hubby has no problem getting credit - but as for me - well they see me coming and run a mile - except for Capital One that is. They do a card especially for those with a duff credit history and they very kindly gave me a card all in my own name. Just on a side note did you know that how you handle your credit and pay your bills affects more than just your ability to get credit. Apparently ..." Read review

Be Very Careful With Their Credit Card

Advantagesnone

Disadvantagesdebt

"Capital One…….Be Careful To Pay On Time.. I have a credit card with Capital One and when I clear it I will cut the card up and throw the pieces in the air. I will explain! I took the card out about two years ago. The leaflet dropped through my letterbox telling me how wonderful it would be to have a Capital One card in my pocket, how cool and great this card would make me. So me being a fool at the instant offer of a bit of ..." Read review

High APR, but still a Capital card

Advantagesgood if you have bad credit history as you will be accepeted

DisadvantagesAPR very high

"...are not though. This is where Capital One steps in. They recognise the second chance and the opportunity to rebuuild your credit rating. They have a simple application form, which is also short, and a choice of designs, ranging from lightning, to smarties, and have a guaranteed acceptance claim. And they appear to do this, without risking irresponsible lending - as they give you a very minor credit limit, but still an opportunity to repair that ..." Read review

Where do you start.

Advantages Again, anyone can get one if your REALLY desperate

DisadvantagesBad customer service, high charges, slow turnover, lack of interest

"I applied for a Capital One card for probably the same reason as a lot of other people, I was not left with a great deal of options...... I had a bad relationship which broke down and left me with a vast amount of debt which I am still paying off. This led to numerous defaults and behind payments. I applied to Capital One due to the fact that my current account I was left with only had a cash card availability. Having grown tired of endlessly ..." Read review

Woof!

AdvantagesLow APR, cute cards

DisadvantagesOnline banking

"...I saw a banner for capital one on the internet, & decided to apply. There were 2 reasons, the 6.9% APR on balance transfers for the life of the balance, and also the fact that I got a cute card with golden retrievers on it.... One plus point is their freephone help number. Compared to most credit card companies, with their 0870 numbers, this is a major plus point for me. Also, on the few occasions where I have had to contact customer services, ..." Read review

Capital One - High Interest Rates

AdvantagesAllows young people to build up a credit record

DisadvantagesAnnual fee

"I applied for a Capital One credit card about 2 years ago after my bank turned me down because I had never had credit before. This annoyed me a lot as to build up a credit record you have to get credit with someone but most places don't like to take a risk on young people. I was 19 at the time so when I received a leaflet from Capital One I thought to myself why not. I applied and was given a credit card. I though this was great because even though ..." Read review

Stay Away from Capital One

AdvantagesErm, I cant think of any!!!

DisadvantagesRate, Maladministration of your account, etc

"...saw an ad online from Capital One saying that anyone was guaranteed to get a card if they applied online. The way they did this was by saying that either you would have a very low credit limit or for the people with the really bad credit history you would have to send them a cheque which they would then sit on all the time your card was active and if you failed to make a payment then that cheque was theirs. (A kind of security for your debt) They ..." Read review

Advantagesgreat card

Disadvantagescustomer services

"capital one is a great beginners card, as a first credit card i would recomend this strongly. It is realy easy to apply for a card, either on line, over the phone or by post. I did mine over the phone and got an instant decision despit never having had anything on credit before so they had no credit record to compare it to. My card arrived within 7 day and my pin was not far behind. You get to choose from lots of wonderful designed credit cards ..." Read review

Easy to get Credit Card

AdvantagesEasy application and easy to handle

DisadvantagesNot very much except a little higher APR

"What do you need from a Credit Card account? Well, for me the most important thing is easy access to, and management of, my money. Secondly, good service – the ability to swiftly get the answers I need and problems solved without a fuss. the interest rate on a current account is less important. For the last five years, I have found my banking needs to be adequately serviced using for my current account and Egg for savings. It is no coincidence ..." Read review

Card Tricks

AdvantagesGreat for people with bad credit.

DisadvantagesExtremely high interest rate

"...ago I applied for a Capital One Classic Mastercard. The application form was basically easy rnough, simply competing your name, address and income. I was approved in a matter of days and given a credit limit of £200 as i did not previously have any credit history. The APR is 29.9% which is absolutley ridiculous given some of the low rate offers on the market, but when someone actually said that I could have a credit card despite my lack of credit ..."
