Advantages Advantages Updated all the time

    Disadvantages Disadvantages £3.90 a copy

Features~ ------------- Hi. It's been great so far to help people and share information. I am sure you have noticed Car magazine on the shelves. Living in England means there are plenty of choices as what one reads about Cars. One noticed that this months issue has a new revamped buyers guide. So I decided it was a good time to take a look as it is some time since I last read a copy. I noticed on the cover 31 roadsters are to be tested and excellent time to get up to date on the dream car market . I know you must be laughing dream cars we just want to get from a to b. It is no little matter ... more

Advantages Advantages Photography, Well Written, Accurate

Disadvantages Disadvantages Reviews Somtimes a bit Similar

Car magazine is one of the UK's most respectable 'car' magazines. The magazine follows a similar if not identical format to all the other car and bike magazines on sale, but Car magazine excels in its photography. The front cover of the magazine is always eye catching and inside the editors always seem to try to use their own pictures rather than those supplied by manufactures. The magazine is very well written although its fair to say some of the reviews can seem the same and it doesn't have the humour found in Top Gear magazine. Car is a more serious consumer magazine and has won many awards ... more

Advantages Advantages Professional in every way

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Price?

I find CAR magazine to be one of the most professional publications out there. With years of experience behind them and writers with plenty of knowledge in their area. For example Gordon Murray from Formula One car Design fame! All of the articles cover the whole subject; there is generally no bias towards any type of vehicle that is reviewed, which I feel is vey important. The only time you will find bias is when the vehicle is exceptional. Take for example an article in he April 1999 issue covering the then new Nissan Skyline R34. CAR magazine described it as the best all-round supercar in ... more

    Advantages Advantages V. Good Photography

Disadvantages Disadvantages Naff reviews and news

Car was once the most established, and respected, of the motoring mags. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill. While the photography and general design of the mag. is excellent - there doesn't seem to be anything worth reading in it anymore. It has some quite good columnists, and some nice cover storys - but the reviews are all the same, and the news section doesn't compare to AutoExpress or most other mags. You also feel a bit cheated when you pay 3.30 (or is 40 -can't remember)for a reasonable-sized magazine - only when you open it - there is a huge section of car prices and far too many ... more

Advantages Advantages Quality content, mature reviews, excellent photography

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much

Car magazine is without doubt one of the best on sale. The layout is good, the articles usually unbiased, well written and informative, and the photography is nothing short of exceptional. On the whole the articles are really well written in a mature, well rounded fashion, and they always guarantee a good read.If you want to know what I mean by mature, just check out Revs or Max Power, and you'll know just what I mean. There is a good mix of road tests, motorsport, and usually a few sneek-peeks of what to expect in the future. There are also articles written by foreign correspondents giving us an ... more

Advantages Advantages In-depth analyses, photography, amount of content

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost?

As an adoloescent I was a bit of a car nut and regularly bought a selection of the monthly car magazines that were on sale. However, I had not bought Car magazine for about five years until recently. I was genuinely impressed. In a genre which has become increasingly 'trashy', here was a magazine with intelligently written and beautifully photographed articles. I felt that, although it costs over three pounds, this was genuinely worth the money. The news section is about par for the course: a selection of motor-show news and minor vehicle launches. The main body of the magazine, however ... more

Advantages Advantages Consistent, a good read

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not enough about rallying

I have been an avid devotee of car magazines for over 20 years including a span when i collected magazines that were older than me. What has not changed has been the consistency of CAR. The range of features and articles is almost always good, the tests are informative and the fact sheets are almost up to date. I particularly like the columists who give a balanced view of the world, Alexi Sayle is fantastic and i do miss Rowan Atkinson. It has been very interesting to watch how CAR have slowly caught on to the fact the all diesel cars are not slow and unexciting and slightly bizarre to hear ... more

Advantages Advantages Photography, `First` Stories, Other Content

Disadvantages Disadvantages £3.90 Price!, Layout, Some Content

Before I start, to be honest this magazine is the not the best or worst in the world but I think some people may think it is boring. As with other car magazines, it starts with a overview of new cars that have been revealed etc. The auto biography section features on someone important in the world of cars (like Ferrari F1s Fuel Chemist Dr Lisa Lilley...anyone know that?) First Drive Section is all right but the layout is quite cack handed and mesy. Photography is still good though. The tests they run may be the best part of the whole book. They go through every aspect of the test from Ride to ... more

    Advantages Advantages great read

    Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to fault

I think this is the best mag out there for people who really love cars. It tells you what you want to know about new models and never pulls any punches when they arn't up to scratch. The features are allways great to read, and the contributors are first rate, including Alexie Sayle and Gordon Murray (McLaren designer). You can tell the whole mag is written by people who love to take fast cars to the limits. When i buy this mag i usualy read it cover to cover because they make reviews on the most boring cars great to read. Also the photos in the mag are all first rate and sometimes quite ... more
