A Great Lay

AdvantagesGood value for money, great customer service, good choice

DisadvantagesNone I encountered

"Groan - couldn't resist the pun, sorry. This is a review specifically of CarpetRight in Stevenage, on Roaring Meg retail park - I have heard bad things about another branch so I can only comment on this one. I felt compelled to write about CarpetRight in Stevenage because I received such good customer service and that seems to be a rare thing these days. THE STORE Big, warehouse-style shop, with huge rolls of carpets at the back and smaller ..." Read review

A nice pile of shag please!

AdvantagesConvenient, Good Offers, Good selection

DisadvantagesWait for fitting

"We have recently moved into a house with a lounge/diner. When we went to view the house the vendor informed us that their dog had recently had puppies, all together now, awwwww. When we went back for our second viewing we picked up on the fact that the carpet was a bit grotty in the lounge. We went away, made an offer and eventually bought the house. Picking up the keys was really exciting, this was my first house, a real big step in life, we ..." Read review

My lovely Shag....pile

Advantages Great selection, year round offers, minimal waiting time

"Yes, I know bit of a lame title but I cannot think of anything better than that... The store that I will be reviewing will be our local store based on Sealand Road in Chester. For those of you not familiar with this area it is a small retail park approximately 15 minutes walk from Chester City Centre and contains many of the poular stores such as Currys, Hobbycraft, TK Maxx, Dunelm Mills, Rosebys, DFS etc After 6 months of redecorating our home ..." Right, I want a carpet.

AdvantagesHad the floor covering that I required at the right price!

DisadvantagesNot many staff.

"I need some floor covering and quick, as I want to put my house on the market and I never got round to doing the floor tiling! Saturday saw me visiting CarpetRight, Bedford. This is one of Britain's largest carpet retailer chains, with over three hundred stores in Britain and Ireland. They offer excellent value for money, with their extensive range of vinyl and carpets (Axminsters and Berbers to pure wool and Wiltons, to name but a few). CarpetRight ..." Read review

Lots of choice at CR

AdvantagesSpeedy fitting, good choice, cheap, plenty of offers

DisadvantagesShop assistants seem a bit clueless!

"~ Choice ~ The first thing I noticed when I walked into Carpet Right was the amount of stuff in there. There was endless rolls of carpet, lots of rugs/runners on display and a laminate flooring section so I'd felt straight away that I could find my carpet. (It had to be cream and very soft!) Browzing through the aisles I was impressed by the amount of choice. There was all sorts! Loads of different colours from white to black and different patterns ..." Read review

Carpet, right- question mark

AdvantagesWide range, Promotions

DisadvantagesAdditional Charges

"Last week I visited my local Carpet Right Showroom in order to take advantage of a 50% off promotion. We decided on a carpet to the value of £17, minus the 50% discount, meaning that we pay £8.50 per sq metre. We decided on an underlay at a cost of £8 per sq metre, and middle cost fastenings. We duly arranged for a free estimation visit for next week. The salesperson requested a deposit "..to ensure the discount, as the promo ends this Tuesday", ..." Read review

Carpetright? More like Carpetwrong !!

AdvantagesErrr.......... Ummm.... Errrr ...... No none whatsoever

DisadvantagesRude, unhelpful, made false promises, no goods

"In November we moved home to a place with no carpets. So we got one room decorated as soon as possible and ordered a carpet (for the lounge) from the Bexhill store on 8th December with GUARANTEED fitting before Christmas (subject to stock which was checked at the time of order and was ok). Fitting was arranged for 20th Dec The week before I phoned to confirm all ok and was told carpet had been cut but was not with them yet but it was still ..." Read review

AdvantagesGood offers if you dont want fitting

Disadvantagesexpensive fitting charge

"I never thought that I would be writing an op like this on Carpet Right but after today I am so angry. I have bought a carpet from them before which was fine, apart from the carpet was slightly different than what we picked in store, but I felt I could live with that. Today I went there as the are having a sale and there is up to 60% off carpets, so off I went and picked a lovely red carpet at £19.99, with 60% off it was about £8 square yard, ..." Read review

Carpet Right equals everything else wrong.

AdvantagesOnly one helpful member of staff at Basingstoke

DisadvantagesPoor service, rude, unhelpful staff

"We went into their shop on a Friday evening, where we were the only customers. We chose some vinyl flooring which we had to pay for there and then. The salesman said he would place the order the following day and that it would take 3 weeks. We were shocked as we had previously bought vinyl from 2 other different stores and delivery was usually about 3-5 days. He also said that we should ring regularly to chase the order! However, as the room wasn't ..." Read review

CarpetRight doing it Wrong

AdvantagesCarpets are nice

DisadvantagesPRICE of extras

"I have just e-mailed CarpetRight asking for a breadown of a quote that I had last week.No reply yet. Very nice carpet at half price 13.99 down to £7 per sq.mt. The salesman in the shop asked where I lived an started working out the price on a scrap of paper!I asked if he knew the size of my stairs and landing etc. and he said "yes".Anyway I insisted someone come round and measure, which was silly of me as it ended up more money. This "measurer" ..." Read review

UNBELIEVABLE lack of respect for customers !!

AdvantagesGood prices, good quality

DisadvantagesRude staff, liars, not helpful and so on....

"This is my worst English experience so far with a store... This is actually an opinion about the CarpetRight store in KINGSTON NEXT TO CURRYS, KINGSTON ROAD,NEW MALDEN,SURREY,KT3 3RN About three months ago I purchased carpet from the store for my flat, for two bedrooms and the stairs+hallway. It was fitted, everything was fine. I decided not to carpet the stairs and the hallway, as I was refurbishing the flat and the carpet would have become ..." Read review

Recommended - but ask the right questions.

AdvantagesCheap, value for money, good service.

DisadvantagesNot always up front about 'hidden' costs.

"I recently used Carpet Right in Leicester to re-carpet my stairway, upstairs landing and second bedroom. On balance, I can recommend that others use them - but be sure to ask the right questions, and get an itemised estimate before buying! At 50% of the list price, plus an extra 20% off in the sale, it was pretty cheap at £8 psm. I also bought underlay at £6 psm. The salesman was pleasant, courteous, helpful and professional. No hard sell at all. Having ..." Read review

Purchased before finding these reviews

AdvantagesGood selection and price

DisadvantagesPoor reviews. No help clearing a room You need to dispose of the old carpet and offcuts

"Reading these reviews has been worrying but everything has hopefully turned out OK. We had salesmen approaching us rather a lot (Wolverhampton) but one explained that they were under great pressure to meet targets and senior management was watching. Our choice of carpet was for a small bedroom and we went for an 80/20 mix. The pattern we liked was far more expensive than comparable quality carpet. When we said that we couldn't understand why, the ..." Read review

Carpet Right?? Carpet Wrong more like

Disadvantagesappalling service, unhelpful, unfriendly staff

"I was extremely disappointed and unhappy with the service I have received I needed a carpet quickly for a rental property. I visited their Workington store on Wednesday 13th June and picked my carpet. I gave my own measurements, paid and arranged delivery and fitting for Friday morning (15th), I was told this would be £35 to be paid on delivery to the fitter. Unfortunately when the fitter arrived with the carpet on Friday it was the wrong size. ..." Read review
