    Groan - couldn't resist the pun, sorry. This is a review specifically of CarpetRight in Stevenage, on Roaring Meg retail park - I have heard bad things about another branch so I can only comment on this one. I felt compelled to write about CarpetRight in Stevenage because I received such good customer service and that seems to be a rare thing these days. THE STORE Big, warehouse-style shop, with huge rolls of carpets at the back and smaller carpet samples at the front of the shop. As well as selling carpets, they also sell underlay, laminate flooring, and rugs. THE STAFF I can't praise one ... more

    We have recently moved into a house with a lounge/diner. When we went to view the house the vendor informed us that their dog had recently had puppies, all together now, awwwww. When we went back for our second viewing we picked up on the fact that the carpet was a bit grotty in the lounge. We went away, made an offer and eventually bought the house. Picking up the keys was really exciting, this was my first house, a real big step in life, we approached the house, with 2 cars loaded with stuff, after we had found the correct key and taken down the for sale sign we entered our new home.     Yes, I know bit of a lame title but I cannot think of anything better than that... The store that I will be reviewing will be our local store based on Sealand Road in Chester.     They now have over 450 showrooms from Truro down in cornwall to Inverness in Scotland even some in Ireland all have the same basic layout *The front half of the shop has many groups of metal stands with big sample books attached these are the special to order carpets and are of better quality than those kept in stock. *The back half of the shop holds 4 metre wide rolls of carpet suspended on metal racks each are four high- in total about 70 rolls of carpet and 30 rolls of vinyl are kept in stock *Along one side of the shop about 20 different kinds of laminate can be viewed on vertical displays ... more

    ~ Choice ~ The first thing I noticed when I walked into Carpet Right was the amount of stuff in there. There was endless rolls of carpet, lots of rugs/runners on display and a laminate flooring section so I'd felt straight away that I could find my carpet. (It had to be cream and very soft!) Browzing through the aisles I was impressed by the amount of choice. There was all sorts! Loads of different colours from white to black and different patterns too. Lots of "modern" carpets with fancy designs but also some old fashioned carpets which I won't describe as I don't want to offend anyone lol ... more

    Last week I visited my local Carpet Right Showroom in order to take advantage of a 50% off promotion. We decided on a carpet to the value of £17, minus the 50% discount, meaning that we pay £8.50 per sq metre. We decided on an underlay at a cost of £8 per sq metre, and middle cost fastenings. We duly arranged for a free estimation visit for next week. The salesperson requested a deposit "..to ensure the discount, as the promo ends this Tuesday", which I duly coughed up to secure the offer.     In November we moved home to a place with no carpets. So we got one room decorated as soon as possible and ordered a carpet (for the lounge) from the Bexhill store on 8th December with GUARANTEED fitting before Christmas (subject to stock which was checked at the time of order and was ok). Fitting was arranged for 20th Dec The week before I phoned to confirm all ok and was told carpet had been cut but was not with them yet but it was still all ok. However the day before fitting they phone me to advise due to a "computer error" our carpet had not been ordered at all. Computer error - bah ... more

    I never thought that I would be writing an op like this on Carpet Right but after today I am so angry. I have bought a carpet from them before which was fine, apart from the carpet was slightly different than what we picked in store, but I felt I could live with that. Today I went there as the are having a sale and there is up to 60% off carpets, so off I went and picked a lovely red carpet at £19.99, with 60% off it was about £8 square yard, so we had the final price at £148, brilliant I thought. They asked did I want grippers and fitting, I did not want underlay just fitting and grippers ... more

    We went into their shop on a Friday evening, where we were the only customers. We chose some vinyl flooring which we had to pay for there and then. The salesman said he would place the order the following day and that it would take 3 weeks. We were shocked as we had previously bought vinyl from 2 other different stores and delivery was usually about 3-5 days. He also said that we should ring regularly to chase the order! However, as the room wasn't quite ready for us to fit the vinyl, we just waited. After 3 weeks my husband rang, the person he spoke to said he would check in the warehouse and ... more
