Advantages Advantages Excellent customer service throughout the whole organisation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Organisations like this are few and far between

***Having written customer services opinions in the past, I’d like to point out that this is solely under the customer service category and therefore will not (as it shouldn’t) include detailed product information*** Ever since Charles Dunstone set up the Carphone Warehouse in the late eighties he has placed a major emphasis on customer services. As the mobile phone industry has grown Carphone Warehouse have too. Whilst, in general, businesses in Britain seem to be providing worse customer service than ever, it seems to me that in a market as competitive and overly populated as that of mobile ... more

WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR ON A WINDY BH MONDAY----- You were going to get an op on Haddock Rarebit tonight, but I decided I wanted to shout much louder about the Carphone warehouse. I’ve done the independent local chains, the specialised network dealerships and the major electrical stores; it was now my chance to try out a National independent chain; "On a bank holiday Monday?" Shouts my other half – of course, everyone else is having street parties or at the seaside or local show – what better day? I must confess I have approached the Carphone Warehouse each time I have sought a new phone ... more

~ ~ I’ve owned a mobile phone ever since the technology became generally available here in Ireland in the late 1980’s. I can’t even remember the manufacturer of my first phone, ( think it was Motorola?) but it was “mobile” only in the sense that you didn’t have to physically plug it into a phone jack in order to make a call. It was basically just a handset, the size and shape of these old black phones from the 1950’s and 1960’s, (I still have one of those somewhere) and sat on the top of a battery that was about the same size as your average car ... more

Last week I took the plunge and bought a new mobile. Because I wasn't actually bothered about keeping my number I cancelled the contract I was on and decided to start a new contract so that I could take advantage of the numerous special offers. After a good search on the Web I decided which phone I wanted and that the best deal was at Carphone Warehouse. I didn't want to order online (why wait for delivery when I could walk out of the shop with one?) so I wandered along to my local store to make some enquiries. ~~~ The Store ~~~ The store itself was a large outlet on the outskirts of town ... more

    Advantages Advantages Form your own.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacking the human touch.

I haven’t previously done an op on a retail outlet before but after visiting the same outlet three times in two weeks, and three different branches I thought I could probably give quite a good opinion of what they are all about. Now remember this is not just one branch, but three. I think you will get a much more all round picture. For simplicity I will refer to them as branches, A, B, C. For branch A’s visit I was with someone else, but the visit was for the same product and I was there throughout the transaction. Branch B, and C was for my own needs, and the same product was required. Now ... more

I live in a small/medium town, (where the local council seem to manage to block every shop that wants to open nationwide shops that (recently its been Tesco and Mc Donald’s)): So what people in other areas may take for granted we have difficulty in. For example: mobile phones. Do we have a Carphone warehouse? No! Do we have a phones 4 u? No! So what do we have that sells mobile phones? Well, we have a Woolworth’s – only trouble is it holds a VERY limited stock with most of the phones being un-with-it (not fashionable). Now I am not a with-it sort of person (No comments please ... more

Advantages Advantages Trade-in, no pushy salemen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Secure server not functioning well

Generally I'm not an IWOOT person. I would not give up my Ericsson T10 as long as it’s still in one piece. But I had always kept Carphone Warehouse in mind as customers could trade-in their old mobile phones there. The day came when the antenna of my T10 was broken off. So I directed my little mouse to carphonewarehouse.com. Carphone Warehouse is a dynamic British company; four out of five executive directors are thirty something. As you know, Carphone Warehouse does not sell carphones. It is now the biggest mobile phone chain store in Europe with a turnover of £1,100 millions last year. It ... more

    Advantages Advantages STORES everywhere

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no aftercare service

When I find a company that I get good service from, I tend to stick with them. It isn’t always about price, but the fact I can trust them. This is why I have saved and mortgaged and had my salary paid into the same bank for 25 years, have bought my contact lenses from the same high street store for 22 years, and just renewed my car insurance with the same company for the 20th year in a row, and I not even 44 yet. Unfortunately, the carphone warehouse is not going to make it into that list, not now or ever. When my contract was up for renewal late last year, it clashed with around the time the ... more

Advantages Advantages Good range of phones? That's about it.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Absolutely awful customer service

I really do not know where to start with the Carphone Warehouse. I was originally with O2, but due to some of the better deals I saw with the Carphone Warehouse, I decided to go with them. Little did I know what a big mistake this was. I was with the Carphone Warehouse for around a year at first, and had absolutely no issues, and therefore didn't need to contact them or visit any of their stores. Then, it came to the end of my contract, at which time the mobile I had been waiting for, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, had been released. I contacted them to arrange an upgrade, and was told that the ... more

Having finally given in to my husband that he "needs" a new mobile phone, we decided to check out the offers by the Carphone Warehouse. The reason I chose these was an advert heard on local Birmingham radio about a good part exchange package available. My husband had a BT Cellnet pay as you go phone on a model Phillips Savvy which was basic, boring and not available to download logos and ringtones etc. We recently had problems with this phone on not picking up calls. I was often stood next to him and rang his mobile with a full range bar set up to find that it didn't ring and said "unable to ... more
