This company should be banned from trading in the UK. I had nothing but grief with them after buying a phone that broke while under warranty. They tried to accuse me of damaging the phone myself, then they made me wait over 2 weeks for a repair. I was told on the phone that I could get a replacement handset but I was not actually even offered a courtesy phone! They did not ring me to let me know when the phone was available to collect from the store ...

I Bought an iPhone as a Christmas present from The Carphone Warehouse in Sunderland for my son what turned out to be faulty after using it for a few hours. I contacted Apple who said it was beyond repair and needed replaced. Poor Service I chose CW for their low prices, but should have heeded their terrible online reviews. After I ordered a Sat Nav for next-day delivery I got an email saying they were out of stock. After dealing with a friendly representative on the phone for about an hour, he assured me that my order would be dispatched and delivered the next day. It wasn't, and each day I called back, I was told again that the order would be delivered the next day. It has now been 4 days and they still tell me it hasn't been dispatched but it will be tomorrow. I canceled my order, and although I paid by direct debit, they're refunding me by check. My wife tried to order a pay as you go phone over the internet for my fathers birthday, supposed to be next day delivery. Went through ok but 4 days later when it still hadnt arrived, I phoned and was told I had been emailed that her visa failed their security checks. The phone arrived promptly, and that is the only good thing I have to say about this completely inept lot. An example of how bad they are (note: an EXAMPLE of the fun I had with them over the last 14 months): When it came to ending the contract, we went through the following stages. 1 - sending a regular unregistered letter, receipt of which they denied. 2 - registered signed for letter, receipt of which they did not acknowledge 3 - calling up ...
...it! 4 - they confirm receipt 5 - process it two weeks later, applying 30 days notice from point of processing, NOT point of proven cancellation. Now it comes to the last bill: FOUR days after it is sent, they send out a reminder, requesting "immediate" payment, speaking of "previous requests (PLURAL) for payment". Do yourself a favour. My husbands screen on his N95 was damaged and I knew they did repairs. The local branch was and 0870 number, so rather than paying for a local call I was actually paying a premium rate number. And yes when it was answered by some "lady" saying please press 1 for this 2 for that and ...
...call. 3 minutes later I was still ringing the repairs dept. no-one was ever going to answer but I thought maybe they are busy, still no answer after 4 minutes I thought maybe they don't know what the ringing thing is. Anyway after 5 minutes it cut me off. I tried again, someone answered after 3 minutes this time to tell me they don't have a repair dept. I have to ring another branch, he did give me the number though. I rang the other branch for yes ...

I ordered a phone from their online shop. They charged me immediately but I never received my mobile and the 10£ voucher which I had to buy as well. I then noticed on the bank account that they paied back the money for the phone and that was it. I never did get my 10 £ back. I never was informed why I did not get my mobile. They never responded to my emails. I did never reach tem by phone. I will pay a bit more next time for better customer service and will never ever come closer to a carphone ware shop or their webpage. ...

I bought a pay as you go phone directly from their website. I was also obliged to buy a £10 top-up at the same time (no choice but no big deal I thought!). I was informed that the £10 would not be allocated to my phone until 8 days after I had purchased it due to it being distance selling. The 8 days came and went but still no £10 top-up added to my phone. I left things a bit longer, then emailed the Carphone Warehouse asking when this credit would ...
...informing me that they would reply with 24 hours. After no further response, two days later I contacted them again. The same thing happened. After a few more days I contacted them for a 3rd time. Still no response. I know its only £10, but it is my £10 which has effectively been stolen by the Carphone Warehouse. I am now pursuing the matter through Trading Standards. I wonder how many people just leave it, else forget about the top-up they have paid ...

When I found the mobile phone I wanted for only £80 on the CPW website, I was immediately grabbed by the free next day delivery. It was perfect, I’d dropped mine down the toilet a few days before, (it certainly didn’t improve it!), I was using an old one I’d managed to resurrect.
