Cash Converters are a worldwide franchise chain of stores which serve as a shop where you can buy, sell, exchange or loan money on items of value, (although they tend to be electrical items and can be anything from TV's to Walkie Talkies). Their slogan is 'a better place to sell and a greater way to shop'.
Each branch has its own pricing , buying and loaning policies when it comes to amounts paid and charged although the rules remain the same for ... ...that you will raise less cash when borrowing against an item rather than selling them the item outright. In order to do this you will need two forms of ID - the advice as set out above applies again to this section! All this sounds great, doesnt it? Money when you need it quickly and easily, on cash terms with no credit checking?

...option to try would be Cash Converters - no need to wait like eBay, no need to send goods and charge huge P and P - but the cons of having to travel to the shop (twice in our case), lugging your (huge, heavy) goods around with you and not experiencing the fun and joy of the last minutes of an online auction.
Before heading off, we thought it'd be a good idea to phone them and check if they wanted the items first. Reporting back from the call, my ... ...looks a little untidy.
Cash Converters also offer a Pawn broking service, of which I cannot comment on as I have not used this. Looking at other comments, though, this type of service seems a little bit dodgy to me - the chance of getting a quick money fix sounds great, but you'll then have to go and pay back that money, plus a considerable extra amount on top, just to get the goods back. ...around in the UK called Cash Converters and I'm writing to warn you about it. Basically, it is just a glorified pawn shop. The idea is simple. You have something you don't use, but you still want but you also need some cash pronto. You take said item to shop and they give you a paltry sum and then in 30days or sooner you but it back for the price plus 30%. If you don't then they can sell it. This store however either a)rip you off or b)lose your ... ...decided to sell them to Cash Converters just to free up some space really, and to save myself the hassle of private ads. Now I didn't want a lot for them, but to be honest I would have expected around £40 each and maybe £10 or £15 for the monitors. This was in 1998 and they were in pretty good condition and I now wish I'd sold them privately rather than go through the Cash Converters scenario.

...when you sell something to cash converters you are not going to make millions. You have to remember that they have to make a profit or it’s not worth buying it from you in the first place. This means that to able to afford dinner you’ll need to sell your entire video collection. OK, that may be slightly over the top but you get the general idea. You get hardly any money at all, in fact, you probably wouldn’t even cover your petrol ... ...ever looked around in a Cash Converters??? There is a reason people are selling this stuff, it’s because it’s rubbish, useless, dated etc. etc. If you need a stereo that still plays tapes and records, great, but most shops don’t even sell tapes any more! I took it upto the desk, and they said theyd take it out back and get theyre expert to have a look at its condition and give me a price. I cant help but think the expert was the internet, just to see the general RRP. 1. I had a mobile phone i didnt use and wanted to get rid of quickly, rather than going through all the fuss of Ebay or advertising. So i thought i would try cash converters. This was a brand new mobile, still packaged etc. They had the cheek to offer me 10 pounds for it, thats right, 10 pounds for a 150 pound phone, i politly declined and sold the phone privatly.
2. After the phone incident ... ...i needed any sort of cash very quickly after an emergency. I decided to sell a spare TV i had. I was offered the sum of 15 pounds, which i had to take. I then saw a few months later the same TV for sale at the price of 80 pounds. Happy i was not..

Great deals are sometimes around and in my experience you can always talk to the staff or the franchsiee should you have any problems.I havebeen dealing with my localstore since in opened in 2000 and if there was a problem with any item they would always sort me out. Yes I am sure stolen goods are sold to them from time to time but they will not risk their good name and business to do so knowingly.If you dont like the price of an item make a rasonable offer and if they decline dont make a scene and wait for them to mark it down or buy somewhere else.THEY CANT MAKE US ALL HAPPY ALL THE TIME ...

The New Zealand chain of Cash Converters Stores stock a wide selection of good quality second hand goods and a majority of their items are sold at very reasonable prices. They will provide anyone bringing them goods a fair and reasonable assessment of their quality and value so they pay out a fair price for your old items. They unfortunately do not provide cash money as a money lending facility.
The staff are always very pleasant and helpful if ... ...will endeavour to contact another store in their chain to see if they have the particular item. The store is always clean and tidy if a little cramped at time.

Cash Converters is not a bad place to stop for games on consoles new and old, and the Glasgow branch is right next to my bus-stop home! When I’ve had to return faulty games it’s been a simple straight swap for something else, and when selling goods, a provisional driving license will do as proof of identification; the money to be made (or credit gained, which has to be used on the same day) from selling goods is not going to be great, but I have ... ...occasions. Whilst their game deals can match, and sometimes better, those of dedicated videogame shops, generally these games might not be in such good nick. And their price stickers do not help, as these are sure to leave behind sticky residue - although the staff have sticker remover at hand, it can be inconvenient when buying in numbers at a busy hour. ...had never shopped in a cash converters before. I was interested in buying a stereo just to tide me over untill christmas, they had a reasonable sized selection of goods, i was soon approached by a member of staff who asked me if i needed any help. i asked them if they wouldnt mind plugging in a stereo for me just so i could see it working and to see if i could work it. They were so helpful explaining how it worked, how to set it up and about the ... ...stereo but i couldnt quite lift it to my car so they very kindly took it out for me and made sure it was settled safely in the back seat. I havent had a single problem with it.
If id have gone to a big chain store i definatly wouldnt have gotten service like that. I will definatly visit them again. ...

My local Cash Coverters is the Basildon Branch. The thing that struck me the first time I entered the shop was how untidy and dirty its was. There were products lying all over the place, it was dirty and dusty, absolute joke.
The second thing that struck me was how vastly overpriced the items were. On many occasions I have seen products in the window that were either comparible in price or sometimes more expensive than normal stores. The classic ... ...I would be very interested to find out how the stores decide on a selling price. I would expect to pay a lot less for a second hand electrical item considering you don't know the background of the item, has it been repaired? dropped? running 24 hours a day for the last 2 years? you just don't know do you? I would consider buying something from them but the shop really needs a facelift, the staff need a little more training, don't get me wrong I appreciate ...
