I am so glad I finally bought this device after so many months of scrutinising the competitors. I almost settled on the EM500 until a comparison of specs showed it to be virtually the same in look/effect but an inferior unit in grunt (only 16MB of internal RAM).
EASE OF USE: The E115 is **very** easy to use -- a pulldown Start menu at the top left will get you in or out of any program instantly. The down side is there is no little 'x' at the top ... ...with them simply opening on top of each other, eventually slowing you down (or so I'm told), or you can make six (yes six) taps to get to the correct setting option to shut them down. While this sounds immensely annoying, I discovered it wasn't really and I just adapted, only going to close programs when I got to more than three open at once. Advantages: fast enough Disadvantages: earphone jack but you can't download through USB
Casio’s Cassiopeia E-115 will cost you about £420. It has a colour LCD screen which displays at 240x 320 pixels. So it's regulation size.
The machine itself is a dull silver grey colour. At the bottom below the screen and around the buttons it has little perforations or dimples. Unfortunateley these make it look a bit like a dictaphone.
The processor speed is 131 MHz. This is not bad for a thing this size, I think. A friend of mine has a ... ...enough too. The Cassiopeia of course has no hard disk and starts to slow when the 32 Mb RAM starts to get full.
Even though it does have an earphone jack, there is no USB connection, so forget about downloading music.
At the bottom on the 'dictaphone' panel it has three shortcut buttons and a fairly large navigation key. On the side is a jog shuttle dial. The machine looks a lot like the E-105.
