Casting Creme Gloss

Advantages: Lovely hair colour, shimmery, smooth. Conditioning.
Disadvantages: Application is a little annoying, price.

...reviewing the semi-permanent line of L'Oreal casting crème as I only ever dye my hair semi-permanently as I am too scared of something going wrong and me hating my hair forever. As my hair is so long (it would take probably 5 years to grow the colour out! Eeek!) since Ciao doesn't have a separate product for semi and permanent this is why my review is in this category. Please don't mistake it for permanent, in fact, I'm not even sure you can get ...
...it meet these promises? - L'Oreal casting crème promises to its users a whole range of crazy hair-affiliated miracles! Well, not really..the packaging states that the hair colouring will: • Last up to 28 shampoos. • Be Suitable for all types of hair (coloured, highlighted etc) • Cover 70% of grey. • Take 20 minutes to develop. Casting crème gloss also conditions and provides visible shimmering tones. It has no ammonia and ...

On the casting couch...

Advantages: cheap, easy to use
Disadvantages: can be messy!

I have been dying my hair since I was around 14. Until I was about 19, I died it blonde with that awful Sun-in lightening spray. I had a bit of a disaster when I bought a cheaper brand and ended up with a head full of bright yellow hair. The girls at work kept saying it was fine, and no-one could tell. I almost believed them until a male colleague then came out with 'So, really love, how much do you think it's gonna cost you to put that right?' ...
...the blonde grow out and see what my natural colour was (I had forgotten by that point!). My natural colour turned out to be, as I had somewhat expected, a horrible mousy brown/dark blonde, that looked dull, and the mix of mousy and blonde had the habit of making me look like I was going grey! I'm not sure why I decided to go dark, but I did. I'm also not sure why I decided to use Loreal Casting to do so, but I did, and I'm really glad of it. This ...

Advantages: Conditioner leaves hair very soft and shiny. Good for lighter/thinner coloured hair. Smells nice
Disadvantages: doesnt deposit colour as a block-good if you want to have subtle highlights

...the letter. Before I bought l'oreal casting I did hear that if you have medium to long hair then one box wouldn't be enough. I however have very -very- long hair but found that one box was more than enough to sustain me-so much in fact that I didnt use all of the mix even though the instructions said. But then I was absoultely covered in the stuff-not to mention my bath robe, floor and mirror. It can be *alittle*messy if not handled properly. To ...

sometimes unexpected results can be best, but not for everyone!

Advantages: shiny hair, gave a good even coverage
Disadvantages: the unexpected colour, the smell!

*NOTE - I AM REVIEWING THE SEMI-PERMANENT VERSION OF THIS COLORANT* *I USED THE CHOCOLATE BROWN COLOUR* SMELL: I wasn't too keen on the smell of this colorant, and so the 20 minutes that it was on were spent in the garden breathing in some nice fresh air! Ok for then, but not if its raining! Also, the glossy conditioner that was to be used afterwards didn't smell too great, and left a distinctive 'I've just dyed my hair' smell to my hair! PRICE: ...
...to other semi-permanent hair dyes. It costs £5.74 in Boots, and similar, I believe in Superdrug. To me, this is too much! EASE OF APPLICATION: This colorant is applied to wet hair, and while this makes it easier to spread, it makes it hard at times to see where you have applied the lotion and where you haven't,s it can be tricky to ensure an even coverage. THE IMPORTANT PART - THE COLOUR As said at the beginning, I bought the 'chocolate brown' version ...

...not a big fan of L'Oreal (due to those dreadful "I'm Worth It" adverts), I decided to give this one a go mainly because it promised glossy hair with frosted tones. . I bought mine in Boots as I had some Advantage Card points, Also it was on special offer at £4.40, but it normally retails at £5.99. I've also seen this stocked in Superdrug. The Brown Bombshell is back - yeah

Advantages: Chea, Easy, No Hassle, Great Results
Disadvantages: Hair dye can be quite runny

Back in May I had my long dark brown hair dyed by a reputable salon. I needed a change and I entered the salon with no idea what I wanted - except it had to be lighter and an all over colour - I didn't want highlights. I was persuaded to change my colour to Blonde and on the little bit of hair they showed me the colour was lovely. Obviously when my hair was dyed the colour was totally different on my hair than the small sample they had shown me. ...
...to the colour eventually and it did seem to calm down a little but then I needed to get the roots done and couldn't face going the same colour. All of my friends know that the colour was not supposed to turn out the way it had - so a hair dye was needed. I asked my mum's friend for advice as she is a hairdresser and she recommended this product, which was enough for me. £4.19 parted with at Boots and I was away. I chose semi-permanent colour which ...

Advantages: Fanastic colour, nice smell, good softening conditioner which comes with it, non-drip formula
Disadvantages: The dye gets everywhere especially on clothes

I love love love love this stuff!!! I have never coloured or done anything associated with colouring (e.g highlights) to my hair. I'm 14, and my friend Vivian has lovely reddy brown hair which inspired me to take the plunge and go for a reddier look (my natural hair is light-medium brown with very faint coppery tones) My mum said yes eventually (to my suprise). So i surfed the web for good hair dyes. At first i was intrested in garnier 100% colour ...

Next i came across Casting Creme Gloss and read a lot of reviews which were all singing the product's praises. Some reviews had said that this was very expensive for an at home hair colourent but i didn't think the price was too bad. It is very easy to ...

Casting Creme Gloss

Advantages: Easy to use, covers grey and dodgy highlights, lasting effect
Disadvantages: Sensitive scalps take care

At nearly six pounds, this isn't the cheapest hair dye out there but it's incredibly easy to use and virtually mess-free. Also, it works. After a disasterous highlighting adventure, i used Casting Creme Gloss in Mahogany to cover up the damage. I have used this product (same colour) in the past, and it covers greys perfectly. I was impressed with the way it also covered up my unwanted highlights. They still show through a little bit, but more as ...
...had before. Casting Creme Gloss is easy to use. You basically mix two bottles together and shake. The manufacturers have even made a handy slit in the box so that you can wedge your bottle of mixture in it and it will stand upright. Now, that's really thoughtful! The mahogany shade came out on my medium-dark brown hair as somewhat darker than the shade on the box. However, when in sunlight, my hair looks red which is what i wanted. As well as ...

...a semi-permanent colour. I picked L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss in 500 Medium Brown because I trust L'Oreal products and this particular line of products had gotten some very rave reviews for being gentle and effective. I chose Medium Brown because I didn't want the colour to come out too dark (as a lot of semis tend to do) and I also didn't want it to be too red. ----Price and Packaging---- I bought this at Big W on special for $11.99 (it's usually ...

On the front of the box is an image of a lady with beautiful mane of brown hair spread out around her. On the left side is a close-up of her hair, and in the middle is the brand name pressed on the box in big white letters in a hot pink metallic background. L'Oreal have definitely tried to ...

Hmmm.. Caramel - go on, treat yourself!

Advantages: the results - super shiny colour; lovely conditioner
Disadvantages: can be messy - gets easier with practice!

I've been colouring my naturally medium brown hair regularly for about 6 years now. I think the start of this routine coincided with the birth of my third child, and yes, was designed to a) perk me up a bit as I was exhausted, and looked it, and b) hide those greys that just seemed to appear overnight! I've tried various brands over the years - Schwarzkopf Country colours was ok until they discontinued it, Movida was always too dark, the original ...
...When I colour my hair I don't want it to look obviously dyed, so I try to go for something close to my natural colour that works with my skin tone - I have pale olivey skin which tans nicely in Summer but can look pale and "pasty" in Winter. I've found anything too dark or pinky is a no no, golden coppery is best. I used the chocolate shade first of all which gave me lovely rich, shiny colour (and hid all the greys) but I only really liked it after ...

Not for your mott

Advantages: Natural colour, easy to apply, reasonable price
Disadvantages: Leaves hair smelling funny, dulls after a couple of weeks

I’ve never messed around with the colour of my hair. I never needed to, all my life I’ve had the kind of blonde hair that hairdressers would say ‘Oh, what a lovely colour, which dye is it’ and then try to sell me highlights when I tell them it’s natural. However, over the last couple of years its been getting darker, boring mousy miserable dark blonde. I hate it but I don’t want to bleach my hair lighter so I’ve been toying for a long time with the ...
...L’Oreal colour spa is non permanent so if it turns out awful I can just wash my hair twenty four times before I leave the house. There seems to be a good range of colours, it can be hard to find in all shops but boots tend to have a good selection. The colour range from light blonde to reddish black. Unlike many dyes they offer a good selection of brown shades for blonde hair. This is surprisingly rare and is one of my main reasons for buying this ...

I have an admission to make...

Advantages: Good colour, relatively pleasant smell, good gloves included, washes out of clothes.
Disadvantages: Stains furniture, carpets and paintwork (sorry mum)

...When I first started using L'Oreal Castings, it made a big deal about being for grey hair. Now they just say so in little letters on the box and have changed the name to 'Colour Spa' (and put up the price). When they first did this they changed the leaflet so it now suggested that you light some candles will you dye your hair for that 'spa experience!'. I don't know whether they realised that this was just a silly idea, or whether someone pointed ...
...Anyway, I digress. So, L'Oreal Castings - why does it rock? It rocks because it dyes my hair a really nice colour. I used to use the dark brown but then discovered that everyone thought I was dying my hair black, so moved down a shade. There are 18 shades available - I use 24, Walnut Brown, and very nice it is too (don't ask why it's no.24 if there are 18 shades available...) - and some of the natural shades ('natural blonde') others are not ('rich ...

Since I was about 16 I have been dying my hair, from blonde to red to brown. I am also always trying different dyes every few months as so many come onto the market I like to make sure I am using one of the better ones. Advantages: Easy to apply, clear instructions, sleek/shiny/accurate hair colour, cost-effective
Disadvantages: Skin test rubs off really easily, so could be inaccurate results.

I bought L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss after trawling through reviews of the many, many semi-permanent dyes out there. This one had most good revies, was a low price, and had the colour I wanted, so the next day I went to my local Lloyd's Pharmancy where I found it to be on offer for £5 a carton. After spending a good five minutes deciding between 'Iced Chocolate' and 'Dark Brown', I went with my first instinct and bought Iced Chocolate. The packaging ...

In some lights it also looks almost purple, but not really, so it's fine. I reccommend this product to any potential buyer, really - New to hair dying especially. It's really easy to apply (well, I found my method to be, anyway), clear instructions, and most of ...
